sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This week was another tough one, but luckily there were a few good things. I’ve been sleeping better, although I am still tired. I had a bad headache late this week and didn’t feel too good. My boyfriend has been quite tired and stressed due to his job, but he’s working on sending out some applications for a new job, so hopefully he can find a new job soon.

We heard back about our shower replacement, our current shower stall has rust on the bottom and we’re getting a new one. We heard from the company that’s doing that and we agreed upon dates for later this month. Unfortunately for some reason they’re not doing the tiles behind the shower which aren’t in good state either, so we’re trying to see if it’s possible to add that.

Work wise it was a good week. I got a new sign up post live for a blog tour and I am almost done with another one. I got a new request in for review opportunity that I am working on next. I sent out the media kit for the tour starting next week and had two tours starting this week too. I did the usual assistant work and replying to emails as well.

I had some troubles figuring out what I wanted to read this week. Nothing quite seemed right. I had a 3 star read and started 2 books that I then put aside and started a different one. At least I finally figured out what to read and I am enjoying all my current reads, all next books in series I already know.

I have a question for you. I am hoping to find someone or someones I can message back and forth with about books and such. I would like to have conversations with people about books, it doesn’t have to be in depth about spoilers and such, just things we like or didn’t like about the books we’re reading. I feel with the blog it rarely actually turns into a conversation and with groups on Goodreads and Facebook I just end up lurking as there are too many people. So I was hoping someone might be interested in messaging with me about books and other things throughout the week. Let me know if you’re interested!

What did I read this week?

Goddess of Summer LoveTide of TricksJust a Little White Lie

Goddess of Summer Love was a fun novella set in this series. I liked getting a different point of view than Kennedy in book 1 and at the same time I missed having Kennedy’s point of view. I liked reading this in between book 1 and 2.
I finished my listen of Tide of Tricks, which was a great sequel. I really enjoyed this one, great pacing and a twisty plot with some interesting twists and turn. I enjoyed getting to know Dom more and learning more about his past.
Unfortunately Just a Little White Lie didn’t quite hit the spot. I liked the teaching plot and how the main character worked with the misfits for the dance class, but I didn’t really care for the set-up and the way the personality traits that caused the set up didn’t seem to be part of the main character. I didn’t really feel the romance either, but I did like the way it got wrapped up and how they seemed devoted to the other.
I also finished Dear Writer, Are You Intuitive? which was an awesome read. Lots of great insights into intuition and how it works for writing. I definitely learned a lot from it.

This week I blogged about:

– Review: The Twice-Scorned Lady of Shadow by Annette Marie
– Review: Her Band of Rakes by R.A. Steffan
– Review: Copper Mage by Dorothy Dreyer

  1. It sounds as though you’re one busy lady! I hope the shower gets installed with the tiles and that you love it! I had a quiet week. The weather here is about 2 months behind – the coldest May so far in 100 years. Have a great week!

    • It sure was a busy week. I hope we can get the tiles done too. I look forward to having a new shower.

That sounds nice you had a quiet week. We had a pretty dry and warm May here.

    • I hope it all goes smoothly and that we can get the tiles replaced too. I actually don’t read a lot of historical fiction, but it is a genre I would like to read more of. I read a historical romance and historical cozy mystery last month, that’s the closest I usually get to historical. If you’re still willing to chat, let me know what works best for you for messaging 🙂

  2. We’re doing shower renovation work, too. Hope it goes well for you and your boyfriend gets a line on a new job he can like. Sounds like it was a busy week for you. I’m open to messaging now and then about what we’re reading a life tidbits. We read some similar books/authors. You can drop me a note through Facebook or my email if you want.

    Have a great week, Lola!

    • I am not looking forward to the actual renovation work, but I do look forward to having a new shower.

I’ll send you a message through Facebook soon, thanks for being willing to message now and then about what we’re reading and life :). I know we read some similar books/ authors, so that will be fun to chat about.

    • Thanks for the idea! I am sometimes a bit difficult with buddy reads with al the review copies I have and my mood reading, but I might give that a try. Maybe someone else has the same review copy.

    • Thanks for letting me know! I just sent you a message. The headache was a bad one, luckily it’s gone now. I hope this week goes smoother.

    • Thanks! The headache is a pain. I hope we can get the tiles fixed, but no response yet, so not sure if that will happen.
