sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This week was so tiring. My boyfriend started his new job last Monday and we had to change our entire schedule and move our sleep schedule as well. This was tough, I hate changes and always struggle to deal with it, so that was quite the struggle. And I always feel so tired when I don’t sleep enough, so those were a hard few days. I moved my sleep schedule as fast as I could, so now it’s just a matter of getting used to the new schedule. I hope next week things go smoother now that I am a little bit more used to the new schedule. I also had a bunch of non work related things going on as well and didn’t get as much work done as I had hoped.

My boyfriend likes his new job well enough so far, but it’s a bit too early to really tell as this week was mostly gettign the hang of things and learning what to do.

I visited my mom this week, my sister was there as well and we had a nice lunch. As we all got our vaccines, we decided to get together for a lunch again. It was a fun and I brought some yummy pie.

I also had a visit to the optician this week. I have noticed for a while now that my eye sight is getting worse and I sometimes struggle with things like reading. They did an eye test and I picked out my glasses, but I need another test first before they’ll make my glasses. So it will take another few weeks before I actually have my glasses. It was so strange seeing myself with glasses, but hopefully I get used to it once I have them. The optician was quite helpful in helping me find a pair of glasses that fit my face well. Do you have glasses?

This week was not as productive as most weeks in regards for work. With the changes in my routine and schedule, as well as the visit and appointment this week, it just was hard to get work done. I did manage to still get things done and did the most important tasks. I managed to put a new tour live this week, I also had a tour running this week and did the usual email work and checking sign ups as well as some assistant work. I am behind on some things and emails, but hopefully I can get caught up next week. It just was a struggle and I felt bad I didn’t get as much done.

What did I read this week?

Unwanted AppealHigh Flyght audioPublishable by Death

I was in the mood for comfort reads this week. I picked up mostly books by authors I am alreayd familair with and I had a great reading week. First I finished Unwanted Appeal, the third book in a gay werewolf series. I really enjoy this series and this was a great read. Then I finished my re-read of High Flyght, this time I listened to the audio version and I really enjoyed the audio version of it. The AI Narration is pleasant to listen to and I like being able to re-read the books this way. I also finished reading Publishable by Death. I really enjoy the authors Stitches in Crime series and I’ve been wanting to start her other series as well and I am glad I finally did. This was such a cozie and comforting read with a great group of characters and small town setting.

My current reads
My current reads mostly follow this week’s trend of books by authors I already know. I am still reading Silver Dawn Afire, I am really enjoying this one and I love seeing where the plot goes. There have been so great developments. I haven’t had as much time to read this one due to the new sleep schedule, so it’s been slow going.
I started reading The Red Zone, this is the second book in a series I already started by an author I already know. I am enjoying this one so far :). It’s a sweet romance with some pranks.
After I finished listening to High Flyght, I immediately started the next one that the author just published this week. I am now listening to Lost Flyght and I am enjoying my re-read.

  1. Fall seems to be a time for new schedules. I hope it works out well for you in the end. I wear readers for reading but they still don’t think I need glasses full time. My Mom was probably in her 80s before she needed glasses full-time. I have good eyes and good teeth, now if I could lose these pounds I put on in Covid stay-at-home.

    • Thanks! It always takes some time to get used to a new schedule, but once I am adapted to it, it should go well.

That’s awesome you have good eyes and teeth.

  2. Glad his job seems to be going well. I’ve had to get used to my husband’s split hours work schedule that has changed a few times so I know what you mean about needed a few days for the sleep pattern to adjust. Yay for a visit with your mom and sister.
I’ve had glasses since I was a kid so I felt weird the few years back in my twenties that I didn’t need to wear them except for reading. 🙂 There will be headache and some dizziness at first probably as your vision adjusts to the lenses and then you probably won’t notice they’re on for long periods of time.

Glad your reading week went well and you’re current reads are all good ones, too.

    Have a good week, Lola!

    • It sure takes a while before I am used to the new schedule. It was fun to visit my mom and sister again.

I am not looking forward to that first adjustments period for the glasses, but it is encouraging how I hear form everyone that once you get used to it, it’s no longer a problem.

    • I am glad the new job seems to work well for my boyfriend so far.

I am not looking forward to getting used to my glasses, but hopefully it doesn’t take too long.

      • That’s great you got 10+ years with no glasses from your eye surgery. I am not looking forward to wearing glasses, but I don’t think lenses would work for me either (and depending on what the next test says lenses aren’t even an option) . The whole idea of eye surgery freaks me out, even though I know it can work well. So I guess glasses it is.

    • It really is hard to adjust sleep schedules. I hope your sleep schedule adjustment goes well. High Flyght was really good and I am already making good progress on Lost Flyght :).

  3. Congrats to your boyfriend on his new job – I’m sorry it had to come with a challenging new sleep schedule. Hopefully you’re settling in better this week.

I have worn glasses since I was 6 and I really love Zenni for a variety of cheap glasses (between $6 & $30). I don’t know if they’re available out side the US but very worth looking into. I also wear contacts.

I’m glad you were able to have a nice lunch with family – being vaccinated really opens up opportunities.

    Have a great week!

    • This week it’s a lot better now that we’re getting used to the new schedule.

Seems you’re totally used to glasses then if you have worn them so long. I am not sure if they have Zenni here, I’ll have to look it up as that does sound very cheap. I don’t think I would like contacts and depending on the second test those might not even be an option for me.

It was nice being able to go visit for lunch again now that we’re all vaccinated.
