sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This week was much of the same as previous weeks. I still have been feeling a bit down. Some days go smoother than others and some are a real struggle. I am also feeling low on energy and tired. Our clocks went forward today, so that will take some time to adjust too as well.

It’s been a surprisingly good week for work. I did everything I had hoped to accomplish this week and even wrote two new blog posts for my new blog posts for authors feature for Lola’s Blog Tours. I wrapped up a project I was working on for one of my authors I do assistant work for, which was nice. I did the usual tour work, email replies and assistant work as well.

Besides that I also got my taxes for last year finally done. I am always happy to have got that done. This year I mostly handled it all myself as my mom couldn’t visit to help. So I wrote down all the numbers and then my mom double checked everything and I sent it off afterwards. It’s nice to have that done.

I also launched a new type of assistant service on Lola’s Blog Tours. I am now offering Dutch Assistant Work as well. I recently helped an author by vetting two dutch translations and have been seeing a few request for different language assistants around, so I thought that would be nice to offer as well.

We had some nice sunny days this week, but now we’re stuck with windy weather again. I am glad to see more trees slowly turning green. I made a yogurt based vegan pie this week, based on a new mix a popular brand here released and it turned out great. It was easy as adding some vegan butter for the biscuit layer and vegan yogurt for the yogurt layer. I also have been reading the newest SJ Pajonas’ book and it’s awesome! I set aside a few upcoming ARCs so I could read this first as I knew I needed a great read to get through this week.

What did I read this week?

Tailor Made ChristmasSprinkles and Sea SerpentsSpell Caster

This was a pretty decent reading week. Tailor Made Christmas was another fun installment in this series, I just wished it was a bit longer and more elaborate in some parts. I had a bit of a hard time getting into Sprinkles and Sea Serpents, but the narrator was awesome and I liked the reveal at the end. Spell Caster was a solid start to that series. It’s fast paced and I enjoyed reading it.

This week I blogged about:

Review: The Playmaker by Jordan Ford
Review: Kiss at Midnight by Rachel Branton
Review: Bikinis and Murder by H.Y. Hanna

  1. Hi there Lola! Sorry to hear that you still feel down every now and then. At least you are keeping busy and have this lovely blog that simply must bring a smile to your face!

I am almost done with The Journey by Kelsey Ketch and think I’ll probably then request and review the second one too. I do enjoy it!

Hope your week will be good and be kind to yourself.

    • Thanks! I hope I feel better soon.

I am glad to hear you’re enjoying The Journey and feel free to request book two once you’re done and I’ll send it along :).

  2. Sorry you are feeling down, might need to take a break for a bit and try and refresh.

More assistant work is great. The weather around here was been warm but it is suppose to get cold again. I think once the weather gets to a normal temp, things will be less depressing.

I hope you have a great week, Lola! Happy reading! xx

    • I am trying to take things slow and take more time off when I need it and I think it’s starting to help.

The weather keeps going up and down here, it’s weird. We have some nice spring like days and then it’s cold again and we have rain and wind.

  3. Maybe this week your mood will swing up. The time change can be a little rough, but I tell myself that now I have more daylight in my day so it isn’t all bad. πŸ™‚ Glad your work week went great and you found a new author service you could launch. My Italian cousin does book translation and consultation work on the side and enjoys it.
I had a feeling you’d enjoy the latest Pajonas. Glad it was a good start to your reading week. I didn’t get into Sea Serpents and Sprinkles as much as I hoped, either, but I’m curious enough to keep going at some point.

    Have a good week, Lola!

    • The time change always is rough, I just wish we would stick with one time. I hope the new author service will be helpful for some authors. How fun to hear your cousin does some translation and consultation work on the side. For authors?

I had adjusted my expectation for Sea Serpents and Sprinkles after reading your review, sadly I didn’t get into it as much as I’d hoped, but the narrator was great. The latest Pajonas book was so good!

  4. I hope you feel better this week! I don’t do well with the time changes. There’s always an adjustment. Your Dutch Assistant sounds like a great project- glad to hear things are being well there.

Bikinis and Murder and Spell Tamer have such fun covers!

    • Same here, the time changes always takes some time to adjust to. I hope the dutch author assistant work will be helpful for some authors.

Those sure are great covers πŸ™‚

  5. So glad you got your taxes all done! That’s always such a burden for everyone every year, but has to happen! I’m excited for you to be doing Dutch assistant work. It’s a real skill you have, being bilingual. You might as well take advantage of it. I’m so glad you enjoyed The Rise of Shiroi Nami. Thank you for reading!

    • Can you believe I never thought of offering this as a service until I came into contact with an author who needed help vetting her translations and only then did I realize this was something I could do. It’s so normal for me, I sometimes forget it’s definitely a skill to be bilingual.

I am so glad I finally got my taxes done. And The Rise of Shiroi Nami was awesome, it really helped having such a great read during this week :).

    • I am sorry to hear you just went through a low spell :(. I hope you’re feeling better now!

It’s definitely a relief getting the taxes filed.
