sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This was a pretty decent week overall. It had it’s ups and downs as usual. I got plenty of work done this week as well as spend some time in the kitchen.

Work wise it was a good week. I sent out the media kits for two tours starting next week, put a new sign up post live for a YA fantasy blog tour and I had 3 tours I organized running this week. Besides that I did a bit of assistant work as well.

I am struggling a bit with my reading lately and can’t quite find what I want to read, everything sounds good, but nothing quite what I want to read. I had a few 3 star reads in a row, but I am hopeful some of my current reads might turn out to be 4 stars.

Food Corner

I got to spend some time in the kitchen this week and ended up trying two new recipes that both turned out great. Yay! Spending some time in the kitchen does wonders for my mood and I am glad both of these turned out great!

Cheese Bread
This is the cheese bread I bakes this week. Mostly for my boyfriend as I am not a fan of cheese, unless it’s cream cheese or quark. This one turned out great. The dough was very nice, very hearty and with a bit of spice due to the black pepper that went in there. And no yeast or rising time as this recipe uses beer instead.

Cinnamon Swirl Cake with Pecans
Cookies usually take a bit more time and I knew I didn’t have that time, so instead I went for a cake. This cinnamon swirl cake with pecans was on my list to bake for a while now and I am glad I got to try it out. the cake is soft and fluffy and the cinnamon pecan sugar mixture adds that touch of sweetness. It has a strong nutty flavor and it’s delicious!

What did I read this week?

ElementalDialogueThe Fighter

I finished 3 books that were all 3 star reads this week. Elemental started off great and I really enjoyed it, but around mid way I kinda lost interest in it. There was a direction the plot took I didn’t really found interesting and I didn’t like how the main character was pulled into certain directions by the side characters. So sadly this one wasn’t quite for me, it has a great concept and interesting world building. Dialogue was a non-fiction book with some great tips and advice, but something about it wasn’t quite resonating with me and I would’ve liked more examples. The Fighter was a solid read and I liked the couple and their romance, but didn’t really care for the suspense in my current reading mood.

This week I blogged about:

Review: Mystic Pieces by Ada Bell
Review: Reaper of Souls by Jordan L. Hawk

  1. Glad that work is going so well, Lola. And I know what you mean about struggling to find books you want to read – I’ve also been rather fussy, finding that a lot of books simply don’t appeal right now. A lot of Fantasy and sci fi is a bit too grim for my current mood… I hope the coming week is a good one for you.

    • I am having a similar problem, a lot of books are too grim for my mood. I finally ended up starting a cozy mystery as well as a book by a favorite author, both are good so far.

  2. Sounds like a good, productive week. Both your bread and cake look yummy. I’ll bet your house smelled so good on baking days. 🙂 Too bad your reading was only so-so this week. Hopefully, you’ll pick up a book that will capture your interest better. I had at least four books started last week because I couldn’t get into any of them. Fortunately, that mood passed quickly.

    Have a good week, Lola!

    • The house sure smelled good on the baking days :). I had a 4 star read this week so hopefully I have some more good reads going forward. Good to hear your mood with not getting into books passed quickly.

  3. Hi Lola! So glad that the book and blog tours are going so well! It really is a pleasure working with you! I will definitely keep an eye out for your tours and take part where it tickles my interest!

Have a wonderful week and your food looks delicious!

    • I am glad work was good and I got some baking done as well.

I ended up finding a cozy mystery that worked for me. I think I was in the mood for something lighter.

  4. Glad you had a good week! I love the look of the cozies…

that cheese bread looks delicious! I’m a bread fanatic (and cheese too) so yummy haha!

Hope you have a great week ahead!

    • It seems I was in the mood for cozies, I got 3 more cozies this week. The cheese bread turned out well, I planning to try it without cheese in the future.

    • I will post the recipe on my blog eventually, but let me know if you want me to send you the recipe and I can send it over to you :).

    • It really can lift my mood when I do some cooking or baking :). Both the cheese bread and cake turned out well and I finally found a read that hit the spot.

    • Thanks for the recommendation, I’ll check it out. Although it depends a bit on how scary it is, as I am usually not a fan of scary books.
