sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

First off I wanted to say thank you to everyone who commented on my Sunday Post last week. It really helped to read all your encouraging and kind words. When I was feeling down this week I went to read all the comments and it helped me feel a bit better. It was nice to do a bit of blog visiting as well.

I had hoped I would have some more positive news for this Sunday Post, but sadly I haven’t. This week was not an easy week. I felt stressed, tired and drained. I always need some time to get used to changes, so hopefully things will go smoother from now onward. I did a lot of things this week, but it somehow didn’t really feel productive. I think that’s also partly because of my mood as I just feel stressed with everything that’s going on and none of the things that are stressing me can easily be resolved and it’s just tiring.

First let’s talk about my arm pain. I’ve tried to figure out what’s causing it and I think I hold my mouse wrong. I try to lift it or move it weirdly, it’s hard to explain. I know I am doing something wrong, but not quite sure what or how to fix it. I already have it set my mouse very sensitive, so I should move it less, but it doesn’t help. I think my posture isn’t quite right and I actually need a new desk probably, but not sure if I can afford that right now. So for now I’ve ordered an ergonomic mouse to give that a try, maybe the different shape mouse will work better for me and it will help me prevent that urge I have to lift the mouse. So you’ll hear next week how that went if it arrives on time.

On the topic of my computer trouble, I’ve actually spent quite some time on that this week trying to figure out what is causing it. I eventually stumbled upon some diagnostic thing that showed a certain program kept crashing. So I uninstalled that, which seems to help a lot and prevents some of the crashes, but not completely. It still has those moments where it suddenly slows down a lot and nothing except a restart helps. I have a few more things I want to try next week, so hopefully that helps. I hate computer troubles as it’s never an easy solution. It always takes so much time and most of the things you try don’t work. I also seem to have the worst luck with computers as all my computers so far have had some weird problems. I just want my computer to work.

I also found out that my website theme on my Lola’s Blog Tours site likely won’t be updated to compensate for the new jQuery thing from the latest wordpress update. Luckily the new theme I bought for my blog (which I still haven’t installed btw) can be used on multiple sites, so that’s good. I plan to switch out the themes for both my blog and website later this week as this is really something that needs to be done.

Work wise this was a pretty decent week. I got some new tour work for future months which is great. I worked on an upcoming tour and sent out the media kits for that. I also did a good amount of assistant work. I am also working on finding more work. I’ve scheduled social media posts for the rest of the month. I also got some testimonials from authors I currently work for to add to my site. I love testimonials, it’s always feels a bit awkward asking for them, but it really can give me a confidence boast to read them. And it looks a lot better now that I have some more assistant work testimonials on there as well. I am planning my next sales as well. I sadly had to cancel a tour that wasn’t getting any sign-ups, which is a shame as I put a lot of time into that already. I am also working on some future tours that will go live later this month hopefully.

What did I read this week?

Heirs of PowerLet's ConnectHow to Market a BookMy Unexpected Boyfriend

Heirs of Power was an awesome read. I really enjoyed this one. It was an unique twist on common fantasy tropes and I loved following the adventures of the characters. Let’s Connect was a fun, sweet romantic read, but it was a bit on the short side. I had trouble feeling the romance as I felt like we didn’t get to know the love interest as well. There’s an unique twist. How to Market a Book was a nice read about marketing. It gives a very broad overview of marketing possibilities. I didn’t really care for the more traditional media marketing recommendations. My Unexpected Boyfriend was a great opposites attract romance and I really like this series.

This week I blogged about:

Review: Heirs of Power by Kay MacLeod
Review: A Cop and a Coop by Hillary Avis

  1. I get a lot of encouragement from reading blog comments, too. Glad it helped a little even if you are still going through your tough feelings and adjustments. You are so smart figuring out your mouse and computer issues. My brother got me a nice ergonomic mouse and I don’t have any hand pain. Glad you got some productive work done.

Wishing you a good week, Lola!

    • It really was nice to get so many encouraging blog comments. I don’t think I’ve fully figured out the computer and mouse issue, but I am making progress at least. My new mouse still hasn’t arrived though.

  2. I hope the ergonomic mouse does the trick – I swear by mine, which has helped the pain I was getting in my forearm. Though I have also found that using my TENS machine helps with the pain, too. I hope you manage to get to the bottom of the slowdown in your computer, too. Glad that work is going better and I hope that you feel less stressed – it’s such a hard time for so many folks right now. Here’s hoping the coming week is a good one.

    • I hope the ergonomic mouse works, at the moment I am still waiting on it’s delivery. What type of ergonomic mouse do you have? I think I have figured out the problem with my computer, now for actually trying to fix it.

  3. I hope the new mouse works well for you. I would suggest that you keep a running log in a notebook of things you do to fix or improve your computer. That always helps me and if I have a problem again I can figure out how I fixed it the next time. I had my own bad week with computer updates eating up a bunch of time. I hope things improve over the next weeks.

    • I hope the new mouse works, for now I am still waiting on it’s delivery sadly. Thanks for the tip, although I do hope this won’t happen again. it’s a good idea to keep track of some common techniques. Sorry to hear you struggled with computer updates eating up time.

  4. Stress can be so draining. I hope that you feel better this week. And good luck with the computer issues too! Again, those can be awful and frustrating, for sure. I find blog comments to be nice, too, when I’m down or whatever. One of the nice things about blogging, I guess, is all the wonderful contacts we have. 🙂

Hope you have a great week ahead, Lola and be well!

    • The stress is definitely draining. This past week was a bit better luckily. I hope I can fix the computer issue soon.

Receiving comments definitely is one of the nice things about blogging. I have made so many contacts and friends because of it.

  5. Hugs. I’m with you on the draining times we live in now. Today my kids started their virtual school, and I barely slept last night. After months of quarantine and weirdness, I’m having trouble concentrating and not losing my temper. So hard and frustrating! I’m right there with you. <3

  6. I’m sorry to hear this weeks not been much better, hopefully your new mouse will sort you out. It’s crazy how much difference these things can make, hopefully the pain will soon be a thing of the past.

I agree with you, comments on posts always cheer me up when I have a bad day.

    Sending hugs your way!

    • I really hope the new mouse will work, it still hasn’t arrived so no news on that.

It really was nice to have some great comments to cheer me up.
