sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This week we had some really warm weather, it was so warm. Luckily the temperatures are finally going down a bit this weekend, but it’s pretty humid, so it’s still not really pleasant inside our house. I also had a bad headache that stuck with me for days. Headaches already are bad, but when it’s that warm they seem even worse. I was so happy when that headache was finally over and I felt a bit better.

I got some assistant work done this week, I made some progress for some of my authors and finished up this month’s work for some others. For Lola’s Blog Tours I put a new sign-up live for a bookstagram blitz, if you have a blog or social media page please check it out! I am excited to be organizing a bookstagram blitz again after they’ve been not available for a while. I also have a new client for some website help through my hourly assistant work I’ve added to my Lola’s Blog Tours site, so that’s exciting. I already did a little bit of work on that as well. And maybe another tour, so that’s good news.

I already posted a few times about my Kobo troubles and this week it stopped working altogether. When starting up it just kept stuck on the loading screen. I tried resetting it and switching it off and nothing works. Days later it’s still stuck there. So I finally caved and bought a new Kobo.

While i was reluctant to buy a new Kobo and just wanted to keep my old one, in the end I am really happy with the new one. The screen is much better quality with more pixels and it’s easier to read. It also has some extra options like screen light what my previous one didn’t have (although I switched that off as I prefer to read without light) and it’s really easy to use.Luckily I had received some money from my grandma recently that I could use to buy my new ereader. I also ordered a covering for my new ereader which should be here today.

What did I read this week?

My (Im)Perfect Love Wolves at the DoorThe Hideaway Inn

My (Im)Perfect Love was a great read, it was tough to read at times as the female main character lost her hand and is in a bad spot, but it’s also amazing to see how she deals with and finds love along the way. Wolves at the Door was a fun read, I like the mix between the house flipping aspect and the paranormal and romance elements. In this book you get to know all the characters a bit more, which was great. The Hideaway Inn was a sweet contemporary romance read and I liked seeing this couple find love, but I struggled a bit with the main character Vince.

This week I blogged about:

Review: Trial of the Red Rune by Kay MacLeod

  1. I’m delighted that you are so happy with your new ereader – it’s SUCH a big deal! I have the same one I bought back in 2012, which I use A LOT, and I’m dreading when it finally turns its little bookish toes up! So sorry to hear about your miserable headache – yes, it’s been very hot here, too. Have a better week, Lola:))

    • I think my old ereader was almost 12 years old if I remember correctly, so it’s amazing it lasted this long. I am really happy the new ereader is so awesome, this screen is easier to read. I hope your ereader will stick around a while longer.

  2. Bummer about the old Kobo kicking the dust, but I’m glad you are enjoying the new one. I’m reluctant to replace my old Kindle for similar reasons, but I will when it gets to that point.
I can empathize with you over the headaches and the heat because I struggled with both this past week, too. Even my cats have been sprawling on the wood floors to get cool.
Nice that you got your Bookstagram blitzes going again.
Looks like you founds some more good books this week.

    Have a great week, Lola!

    • I am sad my old Kobo didn’t work anymore, but at the same time I am very happy with me new Kobo.

Sorry to hear you and your cats also struggled with the heat this week.

  3. RIP Kobo then! But yes the new ones work much better! And I get what you mean about heat and headaches as I had a migraine for three days due to the heat too!

    • I am sad the old one stopped working, but the new one really is amazing and works so much better. Sorry to hear you also had a migraine due to the heat :(.

    • Sorry to hear it’s cold where you live. I prefer spring and autumn when it isn’t too warm or cold.

I am really happy with my new kobo.

  4. I’m blaming the weather here in Scotland on my sore head, it keeps threatening thunder but nothing ever comes of it.

Glad you are enjoying your new Kobo, I made the switch from a Kindle fire to a Paperwhite and was nervous but I love the Paperwhite, much easier to use.

    Have a good week!

    • The new Kobo is quite similar to my old one, but it’s clear it’s a newer model and the screen is a lot better quality and it’s faster and can hold more books too. I think the kindle paperwhite has an E-ink screen as well right? That’s what my Kobo has too.

    • I hope so too. So far I am loving it, the screen is much better quality and makes it easier to read and it’s a lot faster and can store even more books.

    • That’s a good way to make someone happy with an older ereader. That slippery back sounds unhandy indeed. I’ve always had the same ereader and I think it was 12 years old now, I stuck with it until now before deciding to buy a new one.
