sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This was both a great week and a not so good week in different aspects. My boyfriend was back to his ever changing all over the place work schedule with some unhandy work times again this week. I had a few not so good nights of sleep again and I got hit by a nasty headache and shoulder pain that stuck around for 3 whole days. I still managed to get things done, but it was tiring. Late this week my boyfriend developed a nasty cough and was tired, so he might be sick. We still had some cough medicine that seems to be working, so we’ll see how that goes.

Grocery shopping was difficult again, still no flour, and people are getting less good at following the social distancing it seems which can be frustrating. I also encountered some people who do this great and nicely wait for other people and keep their distance. At the same time it was a pretty productive week. I got multiple things for Lola’s Blog Tours done as well as my usual assistant work.

I launched my new assistant work services on Lola’s Blog Tours. I am so excited for these. I’ve been working as author assistant for years now and I hope this way I can help more authors by offering some of the things I can do on my website as well. Remember I mentioned I did a new task for an author last week? Those were twitter pitches and that’s one of the services I added as well. I worked on more twitter pitches for the same author this week.

I also set up a four email automation sequence for my Lola’s Blog Tours author newsletter. That’s something that has been on my planning for a while now, but I never made the time for it. Now in two days time I did all the four emails and now it’s live and running. I also will use the content in those newsletters to send it to my current audience as well over the next few months as it think it’s all content that’s handy for my current subscribers as well.

Besides that I also added a new page to my Lola’s Blog Tours site, with resources and books for authors. I’ve read some non-fiction books and I added all the books I would recommend to that page as well as some resources that I recommend. I hope this is helpful for authors to have ti all in one place as I think many don’t follow my blog.

I followed my own advice from last week and made something that didn’t require (much) flour this week. I made some delicious mini cheesecakes that only needed a few tablespoons of flour.

Giveaway!

I am giving away two e-copies of First Flyght in my review post for Silent Flyght the fifth book in this series. I love this series! Check out the giveaway here.

What did I read this week?

Plot GardeningMurder at the MarinaSpartan HeartLaunch to Market

Plot Gardening was an interesting non-fiction book about plotting, I liked reading this one and thought it had some good advice. Murder at the Marina was another fun cozy mystery read in this series and the Russian theme of this one was interesting. Spartan Heart is the first book in the Mythos Academy spin-off series and it was great to be back in this world with a fresh adventure and a new main character. Launch to Market was a bit too short and could use some more expanding. It didn’t have much new information for me, but for new authors it might have some good tidbits.

This week I blogged about:

Review: Jumping the Bull by Jenn Burke
Review: Silent Flyght by S.J. Pajonas

Book Haul:

Falling for my RoommateBonds of Brass

Falling for my Roommate I won in a giveaway. And Bonds of Brass I bought with the last Audible I had left from a giveaway I won last year. It was almost expiring and that I found this book after one of my blogger friends recommended it and it wasn’t on the audiobook site I have a subscription to, so I decided to get it and already started listening.

Tell me something you did this week?

  1. Ah man, that is too bad his work schedule went haywire again and that he’s caught a bug. I run into the same interesting adventures when out shopping last week with people sometimes good about the distance and some staple goods not in stock. I do have flour at least and supplimented with some Flax Seed when I saw an article on its health benefits.

That is cool about getting your newsletter settings worked on, the page of resources, and adding the Twitter help to your author services. You offer so much and that is great for your business.

Way to go finishing so many books this week. Oh fun! Glad you were able to pick up Bonds of Brass. Hope you enjoy it.

    Have a good week, Lola!

    • Grocery shopping sure is an adventure these days. I often like to use flax seed as flax eggs in cookies, they work great as egg substitute and indeed I heard about the health benefits as well.

I am happy with the Lola’s Blog Tours work I got done this week. I hope the new services will be good for my business.

It was a good reading week. I picked up Bonds of Brass after seeing your review. The audio version is awesome so far and I can’t wait to listen more.

  2. Sorry about your boyfriend’s job & not feeling well. And, of course, right now when you don’t feel well it’s just a little more stressful than normal. I hope he recovers quickly, glad the cough meds seem to be working.

Congrats on your assistant business getting up and running, I’m sure it’ll go well, considering your blog tours is already so established!

I know, cooking is a little trickier these days – you have to find ways to cook with what you have on hand and can scrounge up at the store.

Stay safe and have a great week!

    • It sure is bad timing for him to be sick and we were worried it might be corona, but he doesn’t seem to be getting worse for now and the cough medicine is working, so that’s good.

I already do assistant work, but never advertised it on my site and just found the authors I currently work for. I thought it would be nice to add some of the work to my site now as well. I hope it goes well.

Luckily the cheesecake didn’t need much flour and cream cheese was still available dos that was a good option :).

      Stay safe!

    • I am considering wearing a mask as well, but I heard it’s most effective if people who are sick wear the mask, so not sure how much it would help. I hope I can find some flour soon. I am happy I decided to make these cheesecakes as they were delicious and didn’t require much flour.

  3. Thank you again for doing a giveaway of First Flyght! That’s super appreciated!

I know how you feel about the people who still can’t social distance, Like, just stay away from me! Lol. Give me some space! Those little mini cheesecakes look so good! I’m planning on making Lemon Cheesecake mini bites this week. The keto blogs call them “fat bombs” but really they’re just little things you can pop into your mouth and feel full. Yum.

What did I do this week? Lots of walks and the publication of Silent Flyght! Plus lots of cooking and cleaning.

    • I hope I get some entries on the giveaway. I’ll have to see if I can find some more places to promote it. Hopefully some of my Sunday Post visitors will enter.

Exactly. I was social distancing very nicely and communicating with a lady in the grocery store and then suddenly someone brushed past both of us. Everyone should try and social distance as else it’s way too hard for the people who do try and do it and they endanger others.

The mini cheesecakes are so good. I really like them and they are nice sizes too, so you don’t have to eat a whole slice of cake.

Glad to hear you got some walks in and ofcourse you had the release day for Silent Flyght :).

  4. I’m glad your business is going well at the moment. 🙂 Fingers crossed it continues to grow.

I hope your boyfriend’s cough clears up quickly and isn’t a sign of the dreaded lurgy! Especially with his work pulling him in all directions. 🙁

    • Thanks! I also hope that my business continues to do well.

He’s still coughing, but it doesn’t seem to be getting worse, so that’s a good sign for now. Maybe he just picked up a mild version of something.

  5. It can be frustrating at the stores for sure. Some people are distancing and others… not so much. Some people just aren’t taking it as seriously which is a little alarming. Anyway hope your boyfriend feels better soon and doesn’t get too sick! It is of course nerve wracking to get anything now with all the uncertainty and whatnot. Sending good vibes!!

Hope you’re feeling better too and have a safe and happy week. 🙂

    • Indeed, some people take it seriously and others not as much. So far he’s not getting sicker, just the cough, but it sure is stressful for him to get sick at this time.

  6. I hope your boyfriend soon recovers – it’s a rotten time to feel ill, as there is that extra layer of worry about the whole business, so I’m glad he is responding to the cough medicine. I love the look of those cheesecakes. Unfortunately we’ve run out of flour and it’s one of the few things we can no longer get! Glad you loved Silent Flyght so much – I want to get back into that series again as I’ve really enjoyed it:). I love how you are expanding your business – best of luck with it! Have a great week, Lola.

    • His sickness or whatever it is isn’t getting worse so far, just some coughing and the cough medicine helps well.

I really like these little cheesecakes, they are fun to make and easy to eat. I am sorry to hear you also ran out of flour and can’t get it anymore.

I hope you get to continue the series soon, I really like the series and Silent Flyght was awesome.

I am happy to be expanding my business and I hope these new services will be a help to authors.

    • It sure worried us when he started coughing. So far he doesn’t seem to get worse and the cough medicine is working well. Sorry to hear you still can’t get flour either.

  7. I hope you and your boyfriend feel better soon. I’m happy that I’m able to get my groceries delivered. My store is out of lots of things, but at least I don’t have to put up with people’s grocery store nonsense. I hope you’re having a good week!

    • I considered delivery, but that was a pain too, so for now I just keep going to the store. Sorry to hear your store is out of lots of things.

    • It really was worrying when he got sick at this time with the virus going on. Luckily he seems to be doing better, just a very persistent cough. It’s really frustrating how bad some people are at the social distancing. I enjoy doing the twitter pitches and am glad I got some things organized this week.

  8. Yes, it’s very frustrating that people don’t follow the social distancing rules. It’s like they’re not taking this seriously or they’re ignorant or I don’t know what. People are like this were I live too and their idiocy is driving me insane. Just the other day on our newspaper’s feed I saw they posted a picture of a group of people at one of our parks sitting and chatting and the caption said something like, “friends met up at the park but kept their distance from each other cause of social distancing.” Ummm, these people aren’t even 6 feet apart from one another! This is the literal opposite definition of social distancing, anyway! Quit encouraging them, newspaper! Oh, also, people were protesting at the state capital this weekend because they want the state to reopen 🙃 Someone help us 😩

I’m wishing your boyfriend a speedy recovery! Happy reading!

    • I think some people just aren’t as worried or don’t take it as seriously. It’s frustrating. It seems to be like this everywhere. I do see people outside distancing, but not nearly everyone. I’ve seen some people meet up or cycle together and not keep their distance.

My boyfriend seems to be doing better luckily :).
