sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This was a pretty decent week, not super good, but also no bad things that happened. It just didn’t always go as smoothly, still a bit of stress and I was a bit tired again, but it’s going a bit better now. We got out Christmas tree set-up this week and I launched my Christmas Giveaway over at Lola’s Blog Tours.

Work wise it was a pretty decent week. I had a book blitz that ran till Thursday, so I worked on that. I also finally had time to schedule some additional social media posts and did the usual email and form checking for Lola’s Blog Tours. I got a good amount of assistant work hours done as well this week and it was nice to get some tasks crossed of my list for that.

Yesterday we went out to visit another city and check out a Christmas market there, we had a great lunch at a bagel store. But the weather turned nasty afterwards with rain and hard winds, so it wasn’t as fun then anymore. The Christmas market was a bit disappointing, not as many interesting stalls and it was super crowded. We did find a few nice stall were we bought some new Christmas ornaments and some Stroopwafels (a type of cookie that’s common here in the Netherlands). After that we just decided to head back home.

Reading wise this was a better week. I read Lost Flyght, which was awesome followed by another 5 star non-fiction read in Dear Writer, Are You In Burnout? And then Outcast Girl vs Pretty Boy, the next book in a series I am really enjoying, which was awesome too. I like weeks like this where I can read the enxt books in series I already enjoy, it’s especially great to stave of an impending slump.

What did I read this week?

Lost FlyghtBeta testDear Writer, Are you in BurnoutOutcast Girl vs Pretty Boy

Lost Flyght was an awesome fourth book, lost of answers, twists and reveals in this one. I also love seeing the romance develop. Beta Test was a DNF, not a bad book, but I kinda lost interest. The narrator does a good job with it. I had expected more about gaming and when the getting to know you stage went over in mostly sex I just lost interest. Figured I would start a new audiobook for now and might come back to it later. Dear Writer, Are you in Burnout was another 5 star read, it was such a great read. These books really resonate with me and I like how she explains the whole burnout process in a way that makes sense. Outcast Girl vs Pretty Boy is probably my favorite book in this series so far. It was an awesome read and I love reading about this family. Bianca and Cam are so sweet and I like the blossoming romance between Stacey and Hayden.

Food Corner

For today’s food corner I decided to pick one recipe to focus on. The Couscous Salad. I made this dish last Saturday and thought it was a good one to showcase this week. It’s a dish I often like to make on evenings where I have a bit less time as it’s a bit quicker to prepare than most of my wishes. It really shines thanks to the variety of ingredients that combine together into a great flavor. I hope you give this one a try!

Book Haul:

His Quiet AgentLove and War box setA Dance Of water and AirOutcast Girl vs Pretty BoyPirate ThroneShifter's StormThe Last Mystic

I had some money to spare so I bought some new books. And the next books in two awesome series released this week, so I have quite the haul this week. His Quiet Agent sounded like a good MM romance, so I bought a copy. I enjoyed other series by RA Stefan and I am curious about her sci-fi romance series, so I figured I would grab the whole box set of that one. I liked the description for A Dance Of water and Air, so that was another book I bought. Outcast Girl vs Pretty Boy I got for review form the author and already finished reading. Pirate Throne is the next telepathic space pirates series and I am really excited for this one. And Shifter’s Storm is the new release in carol Van Natta’s ice age shifter series, I can’t wait to read it! The Last Mystic I got for review and I am excited to read this last book in the series.

  1. Quiet weeks are nice to get after troubling ones. Glad you got to make the outing to the other city’s Christmas Market even if it was only so-so.
Love that you got to grab the next books in a few favorite series and enjoy them right away.
I’m always looking for ways to use cous cous so I’ll have to try putting it in salad like that.
Oh yes, nice book haul there! That will keep you busy for a while. 🙂

    Have a good week, Lola!

    • It was definitely nice to have a quieter week after the more stressful few weeks. It was nice to go on an outing, but it was a bit disappointing with how the weather turned bad and the less than stellar market.

I am always happy when I can dive into next books in favorite series right away.

I really like couscous, but always am looking for new ways to use it as I don’t have as many great recipes with it. This is one of my favorite ways to eat it.

  2. I’m glad you had a mostly good week. Sounds like the visit to the other town was successful, with the new ornaments, even if it was a little disappointing. And yay for good reading week!

I hope this week is just as good, if not better 😁

  3. I need to get hold of the next Flyght book – I thoroughly enjoyed the first one and I know SJ has been busy writing more… And many thanks for sharing that couscous salad – it looks an ideal meal to make when my vegan son comes to stay over during Christmas:)).

    • I hope you’ll enjoy the next Flyght book. It really is an awesome series. That’s right if you skip the cheese it is a vegan dish indeed. I hope you’ll enjoy it if you decide to give it a try.
