sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This was a decent week with some meh moments. I struggled with a muscle in my shoulder that wouldn’t stop hurting for days, which was quite annoying and when it finally stopped hurting my other shoulder started hurting and I got a headache too, ugh. Luckily the headache didn’t last too long. It was a good week work wise, even with the trouble focusing at times. I did a good amount of work this week. It was busy and a bit tiring, but very productive too. I sent out three media kits for tours starting next week, had a tour that was running this week and did some other Lola’s Blog Tours tasks. Besides that I did a good amount of assistant work this week as well.

I also had some great reads this week. The third book in the Flyght series that I love arrived this week and I started reading that after I finished two other great reads by authors whose books I really like. I am almost done with my current audio read too. I had a bit of time for some gaming as well. And next week Pets in Space 4 releases, I am really excited for that one.

I tried two new recipes this week. An apple crumble cake, which tasted great, although it rose it a bit uneven due to all the apples, there’s a lower patch in the middle. I think I added too many apples, but as it tastes great I don’t mind the slightly weird look. And I made some rice pudding, which turned out great, but was too sweet, so I need to adjust that for next time.

I also tried to shorten down my Sunday post a bit, I removed the cooking stuff for now and shortened down the open tours section to only show the open tours and no longer the review opportunities as well. Let me know what you think.

What did I read this week?

Scavenger PrincessThe Alchemist and an Amaretto

Both these reads were great. Scavenger Princess can be read as a standalone, but is part of the telepathic space pirates series. I like this world and this was a great story. The Alchemist and an Amaretto was another solid read in this series, I liked seeing even more of the characters in this book and seeing how they deal with their latest adventure.

This week I blogged about:

Review: Be Calm by Jill Weber
Review: Broken Flyght by S.J. Pajonas

What to expect next week on the blog:

– review: Tithed to the Dread Lord by Athena Grayson
– Review: The Alchemist and a Amaretto by Annette Marie

Book Haul:

High FlyghtLet it Be MeProtecting His PriestessCobblered to Death

High Flyght I got for review from the author and I started it as soon as I finished my current read, it’s a great one so far. Let It Be Me I bought shortly after it released as I enjoyed the first book in this series, Counting on You. I hope this one is as good as the first one. I bought Protecting His Priestess as I am currently reading the first book in this series and it’s so good. Cobblered to Death I got for review from Netgalley. It sounded like a fun cozie, so I requested it and got approved in the same week, yay!
On that topic, there’s this Netgalley ARc I requested almost a month ago that I still haven’t gotten approved or rejected for. I hope I still get approved for it.

  1. Oh man, that pain just moved around in your body, didn’t it? Fun that you got to make up some recipes. The Apple Crumbler sounds delicious and I do like warm rice pudding. Yay for a batch of really good books this week. I don’t mind the list of meals or your review offerings under the tours, but if you feel you need to shorten it than it looks good.

    Have a great week, Lola!

    • Ut really was a pain to have the pain move around like that. It was nice to try out some new recipe. I have the rice pudding recipe all scheduled for next month I think and drafted most of the apple crumble recipe too :). So they’re both coming to the blog.

The review offerings don’t change as much and I thought it was a bit too long. They’re still in my sidebar tough. I also feel like most people just skim over it, but I am glad to hear you didn’t mind the list.

  2. Sounds like a really productive week Lola! Bummer about the shoulder and headache – I wouldn’t be surprised if the two were related. The apple crumble cake sounds so good – personally I never care how something looks, it’s how it tastes that maters! I’m curious about the rice pudding too – I’m not sure I’ve ever had it, but it sure sounds like something I would like. Rice, love. Pudding, love.

Hope you have another good week 🙂

    • It was quite the productive week even with the shoulder and headache. I think they are related, I often get a headache after shoulder pain due to tensing up when I am in pain.

It was difficult to take a nice looking picture of the cake for my blog due to how it looked, but I personally don’t really mind either, as long as it tastes good. I already have the rice pudding recipe scheduled for next month on my blog.

    • I am glad I still got some work done even with the shoulder pain and headache. Sorry to hear you’ve been battling a two day headache, I hope you feel better soon.

  3. Sorry you have been afflicted this week – I hope the headaches and sore shoulders will soon pass. I’ve got the first book in the Flyght series and am looking forward to tucking into it soon – and I’ve also read the first two books in the Telepathic Space Pirates series, which I really enjoyed. I’m looking forward to getting hold of this third one.

Have a good week, Lola – hopefully a pain-free one.

    • I hope this week will be free of pain. I hope you’ll enjoy the first book in the Flyght series and I am looking forward to hear your thoughts.

Sorry for the confusing Scavenger Princess is not the third book in the Telepathic Space Pirates series, it’s a standalone read set in the same universe. I think book 3 will release later this year 🙂

    • Sorry to hear you struggle with chronic shoulder and back pain. I have to be so careful with my shoulder, if I tense them too much or use them too much they always start hurting. It’s a pain. I loved High Flyght, it was so good!

  4. Sometimes random pain helps me work better. I guess its about focus? I don’t know but it was good you were able to work through it. I feel for you. ❤ I liked the food part you took out as I don’t get to those posts a lot. It sounds like you had fun in the kitchen. I tried crab ragoons yesterday. A total and complete mess! Like 2 didn’t explode. hahaha

    • I never had that happen where pain helped me focus, it usually just distracts me form what I am doing. I am glad to hear you liked the food part, I’ve come up with something new for the food part, to switch it up a bit.

That sounds messy those crab ragoons with how they exploded. I hope the two that stayed whole were good at least?

    • Sorry to hear you’ve been feeling a bit under the weather in the last few weeks. I hope you feel better soon and you have a great birthday!

The rice pudding was great. I already have the recipe post for that one scheduled 🙂
