sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This was a pretty decent week, but also a bit tiring. I did my usual assistant work this week and did a bit of extra hours in. I heard back about two tours, so I hope to have the sign-up posts for those live next week. And I got some awesome new banners for Lola’s Blog Tours that my designer made for me.

We celebrated Christmas with my family early this year and went out for dinner last weekend and exchanged gifts. We got some Lush products from my sister and my mother and her husband gave me a coloring poster that I have to color first. I

The less good part of my week was that last Sunday I burned my hand on some hot oil. The oil landed on my hand and I got a second degree burn, it hurt pretty badly the first day and then I got blisters the second day. I called the doctor and she said to make sure the skin didn’t get dry and not break the blisters. So I have been careful with my hand the whole week, which was pretty tiring. Now it’s starting to itch, so I hope that’s a good sign. It is looking better.

I am almost done with my first audiobook :). I hope to start book 2 next week. I already have some more audiobooks on my wishlist that I hope to get to after I finish this series in audio.

What did I read this week?

Chasing Forever

Chasing Forever was a great read! I really liked getting Brian’s story and seeing him fall for Mal. For fans of MM contemporary romances I can’t recommend this series enough!

What did I cook for dinner this week?

This week I blogged about:

Review: Pillars of Six by Kelly St Clare
Review: Witch Swindled in Westerham by Dionne Lister

What to expect next week on the blog:

– Review: Chasing Forever by Kelly Jensen
– Review: Darak by Carla Bristol

  1. Yikes, sorry about the burn on your hand. Burns are so painful. When I got a second degree burn once, I used burn cream on it while it was healing, and once it was healed enough, I switched to I think lotion to keep it moisturized, and I kept it out of the sun, and it didn’t scar. Just telling you what worked for me in case you want to try it, although I imagine it’s more difficult when it’s on your hand. I hope it heals quickly!

That’s great you got some new tours and new banners and had a nice early Xmas celebration! And yay for the audiobooks!

    • I never realize dhow painful and annoying burns could be. Thanks for the advice. I bought a burn cream and started applying that now that the blisters have disappeared. I already used a bit of lotion on it as well to make sure the blisters didn’t break. I am hoping it heals quickly and doesn’t scar. The itch is the most annoying thing right now.

I am still surprised I am enjoying my audiobook as much as I do.

  2. Yay for the steady work you’re getting the fun time with family. Oh, the challenge of a coloring poster. πŸ™‚ But, so sorry about the burn. I know its hard to do things and its very distracting because of the regular pain.
Glad you enjoyed your first audio and are already looking to listen to more. I do want to get to the Kelly Jensen series at some point.

Hopefully, your hand will continue to heal and you’ll have another good week.

    • It was a good week with steady work and seeing my family. I am kinda afraid to start the coloring poster as I am afraid I mess something up, which would be a shame as it’s so pretty!

The burn really was annoying, from the pain to being careful and now the itching. It looks to be healing well, so I hope that continues.

I still have 1:30 left in my audiobook, so almost done. I hope to start Minder Rising next :).

I hope you get the chance to start that Kelly Jensen series, it’s a great series.

  3. i tend to burn myself a lot. It hurts, I have popped the blister on accident a few times and that is NO fun. It actually hurts more than the burn. Itching is good, it means it’s healing!

Glad your designer made you new banners, can’t wait to see them πŸ˜‰ How fun that you got to exchange some stuff already. Lush products are so fun, we have a store close to us and it love walking around it looking at all the stuff. They smell so good! πŸ™‚

I hope you have the best week ever Lola! Happy Reading! ox

    • I don’t think I ever burned myself this badly before. I am glad I kept the blisters whole as that sounds painful. The itching was so annoying, but it seems to be healing well now.

I am really happy with the new banners and added one to my sidebar already. I love Lush products, everything smells so good!

  4. I made a vegan shepherd’s pie last week! It was delicious! I’m not always a fan of making the crust by hand, but it all worked out. I found another recipe that I’m going to try this week. Everything goes into the dish and then you make breaded rolls for the top layer that act as a crust. It seems like it would be easier than making dough! It’s a bummer you burned your hand, though. I feel like burns always take forever to heal. We keep an aloe plant around for my kitchen mishaps!

    • I make my shepher’s pie without crust usually. I can imagine it takes even longer with crust, especially if you make it by hand.

That dish with breaded rolls on top sounds yummy. I hope it turned out well.

I have a aloe plant, but didn’t want to damage it and had no clue how to apply it. So I bought a burn cream that had a lot of aloe vera in it. It seems to be working well

  5. Ouch. Blisters from burns must be different than friction blisters. I always pop those no matter what they say; I can’t stand the pressure. I hope it feels better soon.

I am happy to read what I want this month since there aren’t as many new releases. I hope you continue to enjoy your audiobooks. I’m happy about how many they have at my library. Anne – Books of My Heart

    • The burn blisters felt very uncomfortable, but the doctor said to keep it whole as else you have a much higher chance on infections.

Same here, there aren’t as many new releases this month, so I am focusing on reading books I want. I am really enjoying audiobooks so far!

  6. I’m so sorry to hear about the burn on your hand – it’s such a nuisance as hands do so much and it isn’t as if you can rest them all that much… And they are also so very painful. There is a wonderful burn ointment called Nelson’s here which I swear by – it really does prevent the burn damaging the layers of skin, but you have to apply it immediately.

I hope during the coming week your burn is well on the way to recovering.

    • Yes it was quite difficult to be careful with it as there’s so much you do with your hands. I bought a burn ointment that seemed to help quite a bit. I did only apply it once the blisters started lessening as this one was mostly for the recovery stage and preventing scars.

  7. Oh no!!! I’m sorry to hear you got burnt! Burns are the worst. πŸ™ I hate getting them because I’m never really sure what to do with them. All the advice I hear online and from different doctors is different. I hope you heal up quickly.

I’m excited to hear if you enjoyed your first audiobook experience! πŸ™‚

    • I was surprised how much different advice there was online, form cover it to not covering and putting cream on it or not. I ended up not covering it and buying a burn cream for the recovery phase. It seems to do well. But it sure was a pain.

I am already halfway through my second audiobook. I am so glad I gave audiobooks a try!
