sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
Itโ€™s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This was a pretty good week. My first discussion post in a long time went live on the blog and got some great comments on it, so I think people liked it. I also finished up another discussion post for later this month. A new sign-up post for a thriller book went live on Lola’s Blog Tours. Some other new tours got booked, I hope to have the sign-up posts for those live next week. And a blog tour I organized continued it’s run this week. I also spend some hours doing assistant work.

I did have another headache sadly and the weather is still a bit too warm for my liking, but besides that it was a pretty good week. I also finished two great books and heard back from a book I requested on netgalley a while ago and got approved yay! I did a bit of gaming as well and finished two great reads.

What did I read this week?

Pico's CrushTo See the Sun

Pico’s Crush was really good. I liked how it tied some plot lines form previous books together and there are lots of familiar and new characters in this book. And more Luka and Mairwen, yay! To See The Sun was a book I’ve been looking forward for a long time and I really hoped it would live up to my expectations and luckily it did. It was such a beautiful and romantic story about two normal people finding love. It was realistic and down to earth, the world building and setting was awesome and I really enjoyed it. probably one of the best books I read so far this year, although I couldn’t quite give it a 5 star rating, but it came close.

What did I cook for dinner this week?

Review: Captured by Dragons by Lidiya Foxglove
Lola’s Ramblings: How to determine if a book has triggers or other content you want to avoid

Book Haul:

Torn SoulSecret SupersThe AccidentalsHappily Ever EstherShattered at Sea

I bought Torn Soul on release day as it was only 99 cents and it sounded good. Secret Supers sounded fun and there are animal sidekicks, the whole box set was only 99 cents too. The Accidental sounded like a great read so i bought that one too. Happily Ever Esther is the sequel to the Esther book i read last year and I am looking forward to this one. Shattered at Sea I got for review through netgalley and that’s the book I was waiting to hear if I got accepted. It’s a series I am following and I am curious about this latest installment.

How’s the weather where you live?

  1. RO

I’m in total agreement with the heat Lola, and need someone from Siberia to send some wind and snow this way. (lol) I sure hate that you’ve been suffering with these headaches and hope they get better soon. Japanese Curry sounds yummy! Hugs…RO

  2. Sorry the headache was back. The weather probably isn’t helping.

Glad you enjoyed both the books you finished. Oh, some good ones in your haul. Cute Esther the pig sequel.

    Have a good week, Lola!

    • The weather sure isn’t helping, the heat only seems to make the headaches worse.

I am looking forward to the second Esther book :).

    • I think the humidity has been pretty high here lately, at least it feels that way and it usually is pretty humid here. I am glad to hear you’re having some beautiful weather and I know how much you enjoy hot weather. I hope the new books I got this week are good ones.

  3. Aww sorry for your headache! My daughter has frequent migraines and it’s hell! On a more positive note I also bought The Accidentals!

    • I am sorry to hear your daughter suffers from migraines :(. That’s great you also bought the Accidentals, I hope it’s a good one!

  4. Glad it was a good week (other than the headache). And time for gaming is always good (that’s one thing I never seem to have time for anymore, sadly).

Shattered at Sea looks like a fun cozy, for some reason I’m always drawn to those covers that have a sea or cruise scene. Maybe I’m trying to tell myself something lol. Hope it’s good!

    • I’ve been making a bit more time for gaming lately and it’s been nice.

The whole series has great covers and the sea/ cruse them eon this one makes me curious as so far the books took place on the mainland, so I hope the change in setting works.

  5. It sounds like you handled a lot this week even with the headache. I keep seeing The Accidentals and it looks good. I hope you have a better week without headache and with reading ahead. Anne – Books of My Heart

    • Luckily it was still a pretty productive week even with the headache. I also kept seeing The Accidental around and after reading a few good reviews I just decided to buy it on release day.

  6. Glad you had a good week and that your discussion went well! And yay about the NG request! I have one I requested months ago and still haven’t heard back about. I think I’ve been forgotten. But also yay for finding one of the best books you’ve read so far this year! Even if it’s not 5 stars, that’s still exciting ๐Ÿ™‚ Have a great week!

    • I think I waited a few weeks on this one, but I am glad I still got accepted now with still plenty of time tor ea dit before release day. I am always afraid they forgot me if I don’t hear back from a Netgalley request for a while.
I am so glad To See The Sun was such a good read, I really enjoyed it.

  7. The Carol van Natta series is on my radar, but I’m devoting the rest of July/August to trying to trim back my TBR pile so won’t be getting hold of it anytime soon. Sorry to hear of your headache and hope it didn’t wipe you out too much – it is also very hot here, too. Have a good week, Lola.

    • I hope you give that Carol Van Natta series a try eventually, I think you’ll enjoy them. Good luck with trimming back your TBR list. It is nice to make a dent in the pile now and then and not add too many new ones. I am not a fan of the heat and it seems we get even warmer weather this way next week.

  8. It’s a bit rainy today, but it’s mostly been quite hot. I spent a lot of time in the pool this weekend, which helps! LOL

I’m glad you had a fairly good week and got lots of work things accomplished!

    • I am glad to hear you enjoyed The Accidental :). I heard a lot of good things about it so far and hope to read it soon.

    • It’s too hot for me too at the moment. I would appreciate some rain to cool things down, but it seems we’re getting a heat wave next.
