sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This was a pretty good week. I was busy with work and some non-work things, I made one more small tweak to my design and my reading mood was a bit better this week.

I sent out the media kits for the cover reveal and release day book blitz next week, put a new sign-up post live and did some hours of assistant work.

On my blog I changed the color behind my header this week, now it’s blue as well. I kept thinking of a way to incorporate a bit more of the blue into the design and suddenly came up with this. I am happy with how it looks. It’s strange how quick I am already used to the new alpaca logo, I think that’s a good sign. Although I still get happy every time I see it.

Spring arrived with a burst here this week. Like suddenly it’s warm and all the plants and trees are green and flowers are popping up everywhere. It’s like a massive difference in only one week, usually it goes more slowly the change. I kinda like seeing all the plants and flowers, but it was a bit too warm for my taste this week. I always get a bit sleepy/ tired when we get the first days of warmth.

We visited my sister this week and went out for dinner. It was fun chatting and catching up with her and her boyfriend. And the pizza’s we had for dinner were delicious.

My reading mood seemed to have improved a bit this week as I felt enthusiastic and looking forward to books again and even signed-up for some new ARC’s. I already got accepted for the ARC I requested on Netgalley and am still waiting to hear if I get the other ARC I signed-up for this week. And there are some ARC’s that I am on the ARC list for that should be coming me way soon that I am really excited about :).

What did I read this week?

Broken WideTempted by Demons

Broken Wide was a solid ending to the series, but due to my weird reading mood I didn’t enjoy it as much as I had hoped. Tempted by Demons was a fun paranormal romance read. I enjoyed reading this one, although some parts felt a bit rushed, but overall it was a very fun story and it fit what I was in the mood for.

What did I cook for dinner this week?

  • Bread with baked red bell pepper and onions and veggie burger
  • Lentils stew
  • Potato Mash with tomato sauce

This week I blogged about:

Review: Under Fire by Teyla Branton
Lola’s Kitchen: Coconut Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe

– Review: Beneath the Mists by Bonnie L Price
– Review: Shoot the Messenger by Pippa DaCosta

Book Haul:

Jumper's HopeZero FluxLast Ship off Polaris GTracing ShadowsEuropaRuthless Magic

I am really enjoying one of my current reads, Overload Flux, so I decide to buy the rest of the books in this series that I didn’t own yet. So I bought Jumper’s Hope Zero Flux (which follows the same main characters as book 1!) and Last Ship Off Polaris G. Tracing Shadows and Europa, were both 99 cents books I bought when they were discounted and both have been on my wishlist for some time now. Ruthless Magic I got for review through Netgalley and I am really curious about this, the premise is basically Harry Potter meets The Hunger Games.

How’s the weather were you live?

    • I watched one of Carol Van Natta’s video’s last week on Facebook and she mentioned you and the foxes, so I was wondering if you knew each other. How fun to hear you do indeed know each other :).
I read one of her novella’s last year in the Pets in Space anthology and finally got around to reading one of her full length books. Its so good! Her writing style really works for me and I am enjoying it so much I had to go and buy the rest of her books, lol. And I signed-up for the ARC of her next paranormal romance book as well. Have you read any of her books?

The blossom trees close to our house started blooming this week with the warm weather. I hope you get some warmer weather soon.

  1. I like the blue in the background on your header looks great and I noticed something different right away! A nice touch 🙂

I’m glad your reading mood has improved, I hate when I get into a slump that feels like it just won’t end! Hopefully it keeps improving.

We’ve got some beautiful spring weather… and I’m really hoping it will stick this time!! Hope you have a great week Lola!

    • I am glad to hear you noticed the change right away and like the blue in the background header.

My reading mood seems to go up and down and I just have the hardest time figuring out what I want to read. Except for on my Kobo, my Kobo reads seem to avoid my weird reading mood altogether.

I don’t mind if it stays a bit cooler, but it is nice that spring is finally here.

  2. Each new tweak to your blog is fresh and fun. Like the comment box and banner box blue to accent the green.
Fun that you got to go visit with your sister and boyfriend for pizza dinner. And, glad the reading mood is improving.
Oh, very nice haul. Might as well grab the series if you love, right?

Spring is trying to come here. We get a few nice days, but then it snows or ices. 🙁 Soon, maybe for our green and flowers.

Enjoy your new books and have a great week!

    • Glad to hear you like the blue to accent the green. I am really happy with the changed :).

It was fun to catch up with my sister and go out for dinner. And I hope my reading mood keeps improving.

Exactly. I figured if I was going to buy the books eventually, might as well buy them now when I can :).

That’s strange your weather goes back and forth like that. I hope you have some spring weather soon.

    • It sure was fun to change things up. And I am glad I found a way to add a bit more blue as I kept thinking of a way to incorporate it, but wans’t happy with what I came up with, until I thought of this.

I was being very careful with not accepting/ requesting too many new ARC’s, but I didn’t do as well this week. But I thought Ruthless Magic sounded very interesting and the other book I read by the author was really good and unique, so I couldn’t resist requesting this one.

  3. I love the alpaca – it looks adorable and the change works really well, no wonder you’re so happy with it! Overload Flux looks great – I’ve got to shift a few more books from my teetering TBR pile, but once I’ve done that, I’ll take a closer look at it:). Thank you for sharing! I hope you have a great week:).

    • Thanks! I also think it’s adorable and am really happy with the change.

Overload Flux is really good! Great blend of sci-fi elements and some good side plot romance as well.

  4. It sounds like you had a nice week, which is great. The weather where I live is really random – I’m hoping the snow is finally gone, but now it’s a mix of nicer days and colder/rainy ones. It’s currently raining.

    • It seems the weather has been weird in a lot of places. This week we had a sudden drop in temperatures and had a lot of rain and wind again.

  5. RO

It’s funny that as much as we love books and reading, there does come a time when we get a little burned out and need to step away for a moment or two. Glad you were able to spend some quality time with your sister, and there’s nothing wrong with pizza! (lol) Hugs…RO

    • The strange thing is that I do want to read, but I just cna’t seem to figure out what I want to read. I hope it goes over soon. Reading is much part of my daily routine that I wouldn’t know what else to do on those moments. The pizza was delicious and it was fun to visit my sister :).
