sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

Another week that was pretty busy and productive. I put a new cover reveal and blog tour sign-up post live this week and worked on two more tours that will go live next week. I also got a bunch of hours of assistant work done.

Not sure if the mouse is still here or not. We’re trying to put a bit less food in the bird feeder so they won’t throw as much on the floor. We haven’t seen the mouse all week, but they are pretty sneaky, so that doens’t say much.

I finished the puzzle I was working on and started an cartoon puzzle of an underwater scene now. It has a lot of blue, so this one probably will be a more difficult one again.

What did I read this week?

Priestess BoundThe MonolithThe Mermaid's Escape

Priestess Bound was really good! I liked seeing Phoebe change in this book and her relationship with all the men. There were some interesting developments, some great reveals and some nice twists. I can’t wait for the last book in this series! The Monolith was okay, it’s var short, a bit rushed and a little bit confusing. It’s hard to say much about these very short novella’s. The Mermaid’s Escape was really good. I liked how it had some typical elements of mermaid books, but also was quite unique.

Book Haul:

Facing WestThe Mermaid's EscapeWings of IceDragon SlayersApple Strudel Alibi

Facing West was on my wishlist and I bought a copy when I saw the price drop to 99 cents. I read my first book by Kellie McAllen last week, so when I saw the ARC offer for The Mermaid’s Escape in her latest newsletter I jumped on the chance to review it. I am excited I got accepted in her team and already finished reading this one. Wings of Ice was only 99 cents and it sounded pretty good, so i bought a copy. Dragon Slayers and Apple Strudel Alibi I got for review.

What’s something you finished this week?

    • I do hope this means the mouse has moved away again, but I am not counting on it yet. I really don’t want to hurt the mouse, but i do want to make sure it stays away here.

I plan to start that HY Hanna book after I finish two other ARC’s first.

  1. We have fed mice, rats, chipmunks and even found someone’s ferret hopping down the walkway years ago. The mice family we were feeding packed up and moved on after a few weeks as did the big brown rat. It was nice while they were around though so hopefully the mouse is either sneaky or found a new place to live.

    • That’s nice you got so many different animals. I don’t really mind if the mice takes some fo the food, but they have bitten through some of the wood on the balcony and I rather not have them in the house. The mice are really cute tough. I think it has moved on now, as we haven’t seen it for two weeks now. Or it’s really sneaky.

  2. God, I hate mice. Like really just don’t like them at all. Our last house (moved two years ago) had them every winter. What a pain…you would hear them at night scurrying around. GROSS!!! We are very luck and have not had that problem where we live now. Glad your week was good and I think I signed up for some of those tours! =)

    • I don’t really mind the mice as long as they stay outside, but I rather not have them in our house. But I think it has moved on now luckily. Glad to hear you no longer have mice where you live now.

    • Facing West sounds really good, I hope it’s as good as it sounds. I am not sure how I can find out if the mice is still there or not. They sure are sneaky.

  3. I need to do a puzzle one Friday when I’m off to just relax. I tried an online puzzle but it’s not the same. You have a great selection of books and I’m loving all the covers. Hope you have a great week!

    • Yes I can’t wait to start the new HY Hanna book! It’s such a great series.

I hope the mice found another place to stay, but it’s hard to know for sure, because even when it was here we rarely saw it.

  4. Glad it was a good week! Ooh a mouse- they can be very sneaky. I have three cats so I don’t think a mouse would survive, but then again the cats are pretty lazy so maybe it would? They’d probably watch it go by and yawn…

    The Mermaid’s Escape looks good.

Veggies in chili sauce… hmm. I haven’t gone full vegetarian but I’ve given up red meat and eat a lot of fish now and a lot more veggies, so I’m always looking for new ways to make them palatable. 🙂 Have a good week!

    • We don’t have a cat to scare off the mice. Although I wouldn’t be surprised if some cats would just watch the mice walk by, lol.

The Mermaid’s Escape was really good and I cna’t wait for the sequel!

I really like the veggies in chili sauce dish, it’s pretty simple to prepare too. Thta’s great you gave up some red meat and eat more veggies. If you ever need ideas for dishes with lots of veggies, feel free to have a look on my recipes page. I am a vegetarian so most of my dishes have lots of veggies.

    • I hope you can write some of those reviews soon. I think the mouse is gone as we haven’t seen it for 2 weeks now, but not 100% as they are pretty sneaky.

    • I hope so too. The mermaid book was fun. I’ve been reading a lot of fantasy/ paranormal books lately. Although all of the ones I read this week were very different and a different subgenre.

    • I really like doing puzzles, I didn’t do any for a long time and then picked it up again. I now have some months were I do them a lot and the take a break again.

  5. Glad the work is still going well, Lola – and I’m hoping your little visitor has apparently disappeared. I LOATHE mice, particularly their smell. I love the look of Mermaid’s Escape. I hope this is a good week for you, Lola – and hopefully no more snow!

    • I think the mouse is gone, still no sign of it this week. The Mermaid’s Escape was really good and I am looking forward to book 2!
