sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?
This was a busy week on and off the blog. It started with me not feeling too well. I can’t say I really caught a cold, but I was sneezing a lot and had some bouts of feeling bad. I feel better now though. It was a busy week on Lola’s Blog Tours with a big book blitz and blog tour starting. It was a blast seeing all those blogger’s their post and I tried to tweet about as many stops as I could.

And we discovered another bump on Pita, I just can’t believe her bad luck. We went to the vet with her on Friday and he thought it might be scar tissue or a tumor. He advised to wait a few weeks to see if it grows, if it grows it’s a tumor or else it’s scar tissue, there was a test he could do, but this was easier and cheaper.

Concerning blogging stuff I tweaked my Tweak Me theme a bit, the font is a bit bigger now and there are borders around the posts. Not sure if I like the border’s or not, but for now they stay, I am starting to get used to them and I think I like it this way. What do you think of the changes?

And I started signing-up for some challenges for next year, I have to be carefull not too sign-up for too many though as there are some great challenges out there.

What did I cook for dinner this week?
– Sunday: Pizza leftover from lunch (made by my boyfriend’s dad)

Blurb:
When you have a connection to the Darkworld, nowhere is truly safe.

Ashlyn has found a new home in Blackstone, but when a spate of grave robberies across the country spark fears that someone is practicing illegal sorcery, she comes under the radar of the Venantium, the protectors of the Barrier between her world and the Darkworld, who are suspicious of any sorcerer unaware of their origins.

The trouble is, what Ash does know might just get her killed.

Sufferers of the dangerous condition known as the vampire’s curse are being brutally killed, and the latest victim is Leo’s guardian, the ex-head of the Venantium. Ash determines to help Leo find out what’s really going on, but it isn’t long before events are spiralling out of control. The dead are rising from their graves, and the barriers around Blackstone are threatened by a demon which looks exactly like Ash herself…

And I got a new game, which was on sale for only 0.99€ on steam 🙂

Developer: Daedelic Entertainment

Description
A New Beginning is a cinematic, interactive adventure-thriller that deals with the defining issue of our time. In a story ripped from today’s headlines, an impending global climate cataclysm threatens the world. At locations all around the globe, players will have to try and stem the tide – with the whole world hanging in the balance.
Scientist Bent Svensson has had to give up on his life’s work of trying to bring an eco-friendly alternative energy source to reality. But his existence as a reluctant retiree is interrupted by a very strange visitor: The young Fay claims to have been sent from the future to prevent an impending environmental catastrophe. The only remaining hope is Bent’s research which is about to fall into the hands of an unscrupulous energy magnate. Bent decides to trust the young woman – but could she really be telling the truth?

In A New Beginning, players take control of the two protagonists and explore the detailed, hand-painted backgrounds in classic point-and-click style. The more than 50 characters are rendered in a striking graphic-novel style and are painstakingly animated by hand in feature-film quality.

  1. Oh wow, you really have had a very busy week, Lola! I like the tweaks you’ve made… I think it’s nice to have a little border around each post, as it makes things a little less uniform (ha! that’s why I have borders on my own blog;) )
I’m so sorry Pita has another lump, you must be sick with worry! I hope it’s only scar-tissue, and she’ll be OK.
Good that you’re feeling better – it is not only the season for holidays, it’s also the season for getting all kinds of little bugs, unfortunately.
I hope you’ll enjoy your new books, and that you’ll have a fantastic week!

    • I got the borders around the posts from you, I didn’t realize that was possible, but when I knew what to look for I could easily find it. I think the posts get a little bit more emphasize this way. I really had to get used to it at first though.

I really hope it’s scar tissue, it feels different from her previous tumors, so that gives me a little bit hope. But she’s been a grumpy girl recently so I am a bit woried about her, we really have to force her out of the cage some days else she just stays there.

Thanks for stopping by Lexxie 🙂

    • Yeah she certainly has been through a lot, let’s just hope it was false alarm this time and it really is just scar tissue.

I am glad you like the borders, I had to get used to them, but I really like them now. It makes the posts stand out from the background more.

    • I would really recommend the Debt Collector series, it’s a great series and great covers as well ;).

I really hope Pita will be okay, but only time will tell.

  2. I hope Pita is okay. My cats are older (14) so I worry about them all the time. One of them has kidney failure but she’s doing great for now. The other one has some respiratory issues and is always coughing and sneezing.

I think I like the borders around posts.

I’ve been looking into challenges too. I prefer shorter challenges (a month is good), but so far all I’m seeing is the year-long ones. I tend to lose interest and drift away from those, but I am going to try a couple. I did some personal ones last year and pretty much never got them off the ground. Maybe signing up for them on someone else’s blog will keep me accountable.

    • I think it’s natural to worry about our pets and even more when they already have issues. Pita certainly is our problem rat so far, she has had many different things already. I just hope this will turn out well.

I think I like the borders as well, so I am planning on keeping them.

I am afraid I might loose interest in the longer ones as well, a month or two seems like a better lenght. I did sign-up for the winter Coyer, at least that one’s a nice lenght :).

    • I agree tweaking is fun and it’s nice to see how soem small changes still effect the whoel feel of a site.

The Shepherd’s pie was really good, I am planning on making it again soon! Maybe even do a recipe post about it.

    • Thanks :), I am glad you like the borders. I like them as well, crisp and neat is a good way to describe them.

They are just too cute eating porridge! Pita ate some too, but I didn’t got a good picture of the three of them eating porridge.

I read the first Darkworld book, whcih I enjoyed and was very happy when I got the novella and second book for review. I hope to read them soon!

  3. I am sorry you weren’t feeling good. I hope you are feeling better

I like the borders, changing up a bit is fun, I am doing my next year so excited to have a whole new look.

I hope Pita is ok, I love the picture of them eating porridge to cute!!!

I love the cover of the Darkunderworld series. Think I might have to check that series out 🙂

I hope you are feel better! Have a great week Lola!

    • It wasn’t a full blown cold, luckily, just some less good days. I enjoyed doing some tweaking on the blog. It’s always a bit scary as well as I afraid I wil mess something up, which hasn’t happened so far luckily. I like doing only small changes, as I am not a big fan of change I prefer to have things stay like they are. Although I love seeing new designs on other blogs and big changes.

I really hope the lump is only scar tissue, but in a few weeks we know for sure. I freaked out when I felt it as I immediately thoguht the worst. It hasn’t grown so far, so I keep hoping it’s just scar tissue.

The first Darkworld book was really good, so I am hoping the sequel will be too.

    • I feel really bad for Pita, we’ve giving her soem extra attention and keepign an eye on her to see if anythign changes.

I signed-up for a few challenges, but now I am reconsidering whether I actually want to do these and then there are other whcih might sounds interesting. Normally I just didn’t sign-up for any challenges, but I enjoyed the challenges I participated in this year and want to participate in more, but I don’t want to get overhwelmed.

    • I really hope it’s just scar tissue, it does feel different for her earlier tumors, so I am still holding out hope it;s just scar tissue from her last surgery.

I actually was happy I didn’t get really sick as I had a busy week and really couldn’t afford to take things slowly. It was kinda frustrating to not feel 100%, I feel a lot better now. Although I just feel tired almost every day.

    • Thanks Iza!
Starting January I am going to start sharing recipes on this blog 🙂 and I thought it was fun to list what I made for dinner each week.

  4. Oh Pita :(! So scary – my stepson’s pug just had her second tumor show up yesterday and they took her to the vet. Idk the results yet, but she’s older so we’re all worried. I hope you get good news for Pita.

I’ll have to come back and check out your blog changes when I’m not on my RSS reader, I can’t see much right now. I’m sure it looks great though 🙂

    Have a great week!

    • With rats the tumors are usually ones that can be removed and don’t come back, so it’s unusual a rat get’s them so often after each other like Pita had. So far it doesn’t seem to grow, so I keep hoping it’s just scar tissue.

The changes are pretty subtly, but I do notice them. The font is easier to read now it’s a bit larger and the border’s really made a difference as well. I usually don’t do any drastic changes, but i do like the do small tweaks like these now and then.
