★★★ Why Social Media Is the Bomb! ★★★
by Millenia Black

As we all know, times are ever changing and ever improving. When I was little growing up in the 80s, I had no clue the Internet would soon be on its way in with a vengeance! So in the early 90s when I discovered and fell in love with Sidney Sheldon books, I never imagined that one day I’d be able to simply boot up a laptop and shoot him a hero-worshipping e-mail that he’d actually respond to personally!

So today, connecting, bonding and sharing our passions with each other has never been easier—or more fun! Remember when you actually had to sit down, write letters, lick the envelopes, then stamp and mail them off to New York publishing houses c/o of your favorite authors to let them know just how much you loved their books? Or to invite them to a conference call with your book club?

And as an author, it’s amazing how easy it is to get a kick in the proverbial butt from your readership! Particularly when you’ve spent a little too much time in the procrastination currents, and not nearly enough time in the flow of inspiration and creativity. As such, RAINDROPS ON ROSES is my first novel in eight years!

Yep, you read that right.

The Great Betrayal came out in late 2006, and since then, there’ve been several dedicated fans who’ve found me on Goodreads, Facebook, or via my website, asking whether or not I was still writing and when the next book would be out. I can’t tell you how much those inquiries inspired me to pick up my pen once again, get back in the game and reacquaint myself with my trusty old muse.

Currently, I’m enjoying the heck out of Pinterest! It’s too bad the site wasn’t around when I published my earlier novels because it’s been so much fun creating a Favorite Things board! Visual aids never go out of style, do they? So readers get to check out the characters’ sense of style, the cars they drive, the music they listen to, and, of course, more of their favorite things! So cool!

While there are those who say social media’s dumbed us down or made us lazy, but to them I say: Let’s just accentuate the positives and eliminate the negatives! The pluses far outweigh the minuses when it comes to the convenience and ease of connecting and sharing with others; whether they’re your long time friends, family members, or a new reader who’s discovering your books for the very first time…

So let’s hear it for socializing! Connect, bond and be merry!

    • Oh Pinterest just might be my favourite as well, I really have to stay away form it or I can find myself easily spending an hour on there without realizing it. I do pin my blog posts there, but mostly use to find new recipes and I have boards for animals, cities and nature pictures.

  1. OKAY, FIRST OF ALL, WHOA. The heroine in this one sounds like she means business and I kinda like that. I have a feeling it’s one of those books where the whole plot and characters are going to have a rocky ride down the rabbit hole. Reminds me a lot of Wicked Games! And I love social media for the fact that I get to reach other people with similar interests and talk about them about these same interests! And Twitter is the site for me!

    • I agree this heroine sounds like she’s going to fight for what she wants. And like its going to be a rocky ride.
I wish I would spend more time on twitter, but I usually schedule my tweets and stay away, then again that’s what I am doign with most sites when I am busy. Pinterest and twitter are probably my favourites, although I also like facebook it’s group function and how on tsu I follow only other book lovers.

    • Hi Faye! I hope you’ll check it out and let me know what you think about the rabbit hole. 😉

  2. I love Pinterest, but I love Facebook even more. I do have a huge Pinterest page and love looking for ideas and have actually done some things that I have pinned and I have learned a lot from finding pins that help.
I also just loved this book, Raindrops on Roses, and for some reason when I think of this title I thinks of Rod Stewart singing My Favorite things. I am sure you would think I would think of the Sound of Music, which I loved but I love Rod singing this song, it is on You Tube and can be hard to find.

    • I mainly use Pinterest for finding new recipes, there are so many recipes out there and sometiems I just type in an ingredient and see what comes up. Although there are a lot of recipes I’ve pinned that I haven’t tried, there’s also a nice amount that I did try.

The series name did remind me of Sound of Music indeed and I think that song was actually the inspiration for the series name.
