Sunday Post #99

sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?
This week was less busy then last week. It always seems that one week is very busy on Lola’s Blog Tours with new tours, but they all seem centered in the same week. And then this week no new tours at all. It gave me the time to do some more blog commenting and focus on my marketing assistant work.

Pita recovered nicely and by friday we put her back into the cage again with the other girls. They all seemed happy to be together again. Pita’s wound looks nice, although there is some scar tissue visible as this tumor was bigger then her last one, but once her fur grows back again you probably won’t see much of that anymore.

I got into trying new recipes for cooking again this week. I made green curry from scratch, I plan on making that again next week to tweak the recipe until it’s perfect. I also made Risotto with apples and corn and it was so yummy! I plan on sharing the recipe on my blog once. I came up with the idea after making Risotto with apples and pumpkin, but pumpkin is so annoying to slice and dice, so I wanted another veggie to trow in it and then I came up with corn. Corn is yellow and looks happy and is sweet, which goes well with the apples. I also made this 30 minute Sriracha Chicken and Broccoli Lo Mein, I left out the Sriracha sauce as I had no clue what it was and added some sweet soy. I also added 5 eggs in total. It was realy good and I’ll be making this more often for sure. I love eggs in my food. And the last new recipe I tried was Chicken Korma. Which turned out really well!
And I baked lemon crinkle cookies again with orange, but now we added more orange then last time. They tasted even better then last time!

Sci-fi month is off to a great start already and I enjoyed seeing sci-fi posts on other people their blogs and have fun focusing on this genre for a whole month.

blog ahead
I managed to get 8 posts scheduled so far! I worked on next month’s My To-Be Read List posts, I always like deciding which books to list. Scheduled some tour stops and even two Lola’s Ramblings posts for december and later. I also got quite some posts for this month written, I didn’t realize how many I still had to write.

THIS IS SEASON TWO OF DEBT COLLECTOR*
Recommended: start with Season One.

*pre-order of the full season available

What’s your life worth on the open market?
A debt collector can tell you precisely.

After dirtying her hands with the inner workings of Moloch’s Cult of Death, Wraith gets a glimpse of what Gehenna has to offer… and it may be the one thing she cannot resist.

Contains mature content and themes.

Temptation is approximately 15,000 words or 60 pages, and is the fourth of nine episodes in the second season of The Debt Collector serial. This dark and gritty future-noir is about a world where your life-worth is tabulated on the open market and going into debt risks a lot more than your credit rating.

It is recommended that you start with the first season, but each season is a complete story for that debt collector and can serve as an entry point to the series. There are five planned seasons in the Debt Collector series, the first four each from the perspective of a different debt collector with the fifth season bringing all four together.

Piracy is a game. How much are you worth?

Since she was a little girl, everyone – from her father to the Great Creator himself – told Lyssa Peate the same thing: she’s worthless. But when she becomes the pirate bounty hunter Razia, she can see the price tag on her own head. Employed by one of the four pirate syndicates, she uses bank transactions and her considerable wits to capture rival members. At least, she would be if Razia’s boss ever gave her a chance. It’s a man’s world, and all she’s allowed to hunt are purse snatchers while she languishes on probation.

To pay the bills, she’s stuck in her old life as Lyssa, discovering and analyzing distant planets and selling them for cash. She’s doing just enough to stay out of trouble, pretending to be continuing her father’s mysterious research while away for long periods of time. Her slimy boss is always asking questions and even assigns one of her younger brothers, Vel, to intern with her. Already struggling to keep the balance between her double lives, she tries everything to rid herself of the kid…

…until the universal police mistake Lyssa’s intern for Razia’s hostage.

  1. I’m so happy to hear that Pita is doing better, and that she’s back in the cage with the other girls, Lola! She’s really strong, isn’t she?

I should really try to schedule some more blog-posts, too, I know that I’ll be really busy until Christmas, with term papers, gatherings, my BA diploma party and lots of other things. But I’m just feeling so, so lazy these days.

Your new books look amazing, especially Double Life – that cover is beautiful, and the premise is really intriguing.

Have a spectacular Sunday, Lola, and a good week ahead.

    • Yea Pita’s strong and we have a good vet! She did lose some weight though, so we’re making sure she get’s lots of yummy food so she can regain that weight.

I really like the feeling of being aheadh with scheduled posts and the Blog Ahead challenge helped give me that extra push. Usually I wait till a week or two before scheduling posts, but when I have al the materials now, what stops me from scheduling them now. That was a nice revelation.

The author of Double Life left a comment on one of my blog posts for sci-fi month and then I got a review request later that afternoon. It sounds really intriguing and I am looking for more sci-fi books to read!

You have a great week as well!

        • I also love apples in my food. I just love apples in general, but when you wamr them up in the oven and then trow them through dinner it almost tastes like dessert. The risotto turned out really sweet and almost didn’t taste like dinner. I trew in some cinnamon and that really completed the dish. I really liked the mix of sweet (the apples and corn) and salt (the broth).
I have another recipe planed for this week with apples and pumpkin.

    • It’s really difficult to give each rat enough attention when one is sick, as naturally the sick one get’s more attention. And she has to sleep in a very small cage, while the other two still have their big cage, so she kinda deserves to get out more. But it’s so sad to see the other two in their cage wanting out. So I am happy I can now give them all enough attention again.

  2. Glad Pita is doing well, that’s great. And your food sounds good too, I got hungry reading that. 🙂

I agree aboit SciFi Month, it is a lot of fun so far and so many posts. Awesome. Looking forward to your Top Ten Scifi books.

    • Thanks Grey :). We’re really happy with Pita her great recovery.

I’ll hope you’ll enjoy my top ten scifi books post. It actually was prety easy listing my top ten as I am still pretty new to this genre, but I really enjoyed writing the post!

  3. You really need to do a cooking feature since you have been cooking like a mad woman these last few weeks! I love reading what you cooked but I want recipes 🙂
I haven’t tried apples with corn however I love Sweet Potatoes and Apples with a little cinnamon that is my favorite!

So glad the Pita is feeling better and I love the picture, snickers is a cutie!

    Have a great week Lola!

    • I always made the names of the dishes a link to were I got the recipe from. I really would like to do a cooking feature, but my camera is too bad to take decent pictures with when the light isn’t optimal and making pictures every step of the way takes a lot of time. And often I am alreayd started cooking before I even think I should be making pictures, lol.

Sweet potatoes with apples sounds really good as well!

Snickers is adorable, she was being so cute my boyfriend just had to take a picture of her sitting there.

    • The only reason I got ahead was that I wrote all the posts I had planned to write. No idea which posts I am going to write this week as I am all out of ideas. Good luck with your blog ahead!

    • Aww what a coincidence. It’s a great pet name! Our other rats are named Smarties and Pita. We had one in the past called Skittles. I would love to see a picture of your dog once!

    • Aww thanks, you’re the second person to suggest that. Unfortunately my camera is so bad, it’s hard to make good picture without optimal circumstances. But I’ll think about it :). Some quiet weeks are good as well, as long as they are followed by a more busy week again.
Blog Ahead is certainly challenging, only got one post scheduled this week so far.

  4. Awww, Snickers is SO CUTE in that picture!! I’m glad they’re all healthy again too! :)) Um…YUM to green curry. I adore curries…but, I’m a sucker, I adore mild curries. Not insipid, just really mild. Hehe. I’m interested seeing all the sci-fi posts around too! I didn’t sign up or anything, but it’s a great idea!

    • She’s adorable, isn’t she?

Yeah I prefer mild curries as well, I don’t do spicy food well. I basically can’t eat it and can get even tears in my eyes due to spicyness, but I do like curries with a lot of flavour as long as they aren’t spciy, lol.

    • I got all my planned posts to write doen last week, so this week I am struggling as well. I only got one post scheduled, I am just drawing a blank on what to write.

You’re welcome to visit once ;). I think cooking is something you have to do often to get a bit of intuition for it, but I think I finally got to a point where I have a bit fo that. And I enjoy cooking and trying new things, so that definitely helps.
