sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?
This week was a bit slower then the past few weeks. And while normally I don’t mind staying busy, this break was a nice change. I did a lot of baking and cooking again this week. For dinner I made Mixed Vegetable Curry, Simple Southwest Tofu Scramble and Brocoli Teriyaki casserolle, only I didn’t put it in the oven so it wasn’t really a casserole and without all the meat. Concerning baking I made those yummy Chocolate Snickerdoodles I mentioned last week again, but this time I left the chocolate and cacao out of the dough and added pieces of chocolate instead, as the chocolate flavour was less pronounced you could taste more from the cinnamon. And I made One Bowl Banana Bread Cinnamon Rolls, they tunred out really well! I really liked the addition of banana, they were especially good when they were still warm!

Concerning blog stuff I finally figured out a way to make sure wordpress doesn’t save all revisions anymore. I hardly ever use revisions, so I wanted to make sure wordpress didn’t keep all revisions. There’s a way to set a maximum on the amount of post revisions wordpress saves. Normally wordpress saves all revisions and I have a lot of those for most posts. What revisions basically means is that wordpress has multiple copies of the exact same post with minor differences and it saves those all, which is a lot. Especially for someone like me who often has at least 5 revisions for almost every post. And for Lola’s Blog Tours those amount of revisions get even higher, every time a new blogger signs-up for a tour I’ll add them to the tour schedule on the sign-up post and then during the tour every day I update the schedule. So yeah I had a few posts with eaisly into the twenties or thirties of revisions. I even came across the My Reviews page here on Lola’s Reviews which had over 84 revisions. And adding a simpel line to one of the core files set that maximum to 3. I am not sure if this makes my sites faster, but at leats it’s less data that needs to keep saved, so I am sure that’s a good thing.

Yesterday evening I watched a horror comedy movie with my boyfriend, it was called called Tremors. I normally don’t watch a lot of movies and stay away from horror ones, but my boyfriend really wanted to see it. It wasn’t really scary, but it wasn’t such a good movie either. I did like hearing the southern accent some of the characters had, never heard that before. The first half was a bit scary and there was a sad scene were some sheep got killed :(.

Beside that it was a relatively uneventfull week, just normal things like Lola’s Blog Tours work, scheduling blog posts for Lola’s Reviews and blog commenting. I also got quite some reading done this week. I read Wraith by Susan Kaye Quinn as soon as I got it and almost finished read Silver Shadows by Richelle Mead, both reviews will be posted next week! And next up is the next Debt Collector book by Susan Kaye Quinn.

THIS IS SEASON TWO OF DEBT COLLECTOR*
Recommended: start with Season One.

*pre-order of the full season available

What’s your life worth on the open market?
A debt collector can tell you precisely.

Wraith is a shadow in the night, haunting the bedrooms of the rich “high potentials” who have stolen life energy from the desperate and dying. The justice and the sweet mercy hit that follow keep her from falling into her own personal abyss. Her secret nighttime work also keeps her on level for her real mission: carrying on her father’s legacy of attempting to bring an end to debt collection as a whole. But when a mysterious debt collector interrupts her in the act and discovers her secret, everything Wraith loves may be destroyed by the one thing she can never fix– the original sin of being a debt collector herself.

Contains mature content and themes.

Wraith is approximately 17,000 words or 68 pages, and is the first of nine episodes in the second season of The Debt Collector serial. This dark and gritty future-noir is about a world where your life-worth is tabulated on the open market and going into debt risks a lot more than your credit rating.

It is recommended that you start with the first season, but each season is a complete story for that debt collector and can serve as an entry point to the series. There are five planned seasons in the Debt Collector series, the first four each from the perspective of a different debt collector with the fifth season bringing all four together.

Playing it safe and fitting in may have rocketed Kayla West into the “In” crowd at Camp Juniper Point, but it’s left her lonely. The only person she’s ever been herself with was her former best friend, Nick, an outsider that pushed her to join the most popular girls cabin two years ago. Too bad being a Diva meant pressure to break up with Nick. Of course, Kayla had her reasons, but Nick can never know the real one.

She always thought she’d forget him one day and move on. Until he returns to camp a super-hot Olympian snowboarder. Now, every girl wants him and Nick seems determined to show her what a mistake she made. Or at least, she thought that’s what he wanted. But when Nick starts sending her private notes–just like he used to–she wonders what kind of game he’s playing. Nick’s attention is making it tougher to stay in the background and play in safe, forcing Kayla to make a decision–stay on the sidelines and get overlooked? Or take a chance on trusting Nick and, maybe… herself.

  1. Now I’m starving 🙂 Those rolls look delicious and I need to check out and pin some of those recipes!

Tremors isn’t really a great movie and not really that scary with the giant worm. I haven’t seen that one in a while and I believe it’s going to on this week Might have to watch it again 🙂

I have to check my revisions I didn’t know that. Might be why my dashboard feels like it’s running really slow.

Have a great week Lola!!! Enjoy your new reads 🙂

    • Only the scene with the sheeps got to me, but beside that it wasn’t that scary. It was a bit over the top in some places, but I gues sit was kinda fun. My boyfriend and I kept mentioning how it wasn’t possible that worms that big lived under the ground.

I wish they had an option to change the revisions from the dahsboard itself, but unfortunately you have to do that through the actual code. And basically if you only correct one type, it already makes a new revisions, sow ith some pages like the my rveiews page it can really add up.
Your dashboard running slow can also be the result of a plugin. Although it’s not easy to see which plugin is casuing the slowness. Some of these things really should be easier to figure out.

  2. Tremors… I think I saw part of that once. Kevin Bacon is in it…? I thought I heard they were making a Tremors 5 (or 4, maybe- not sure). LOL yeah we need more of those. 🙂 I guess they’re fun in a silly way though…

Those cinnamon rolls are looking pretty good… 🙂

    • Yes indeed Kevin Bacon plays one of the main characters, my boyfriend and I had to laugh a bit about him havign such an original surname. My boyfriend downloaded all 4 movies, so we’ll probably will see the other ones as well. I have no clue how they can make 4 movies out of it, but we’ll see. The first movie left a lot of unanswered questions, so I hope some of those get answered in the next movie.

The cinnamon rolls were really good and the banana in them was a nice touch!

    • Thanks Grace, the food tastes as good as it looks ;). I already read Wraith and I am pretty sure I will enjoy the other two books as well as they are sequels.

    • Yes indeed Kevin Bacon was one of the actors in that movie. The only reason I remember that was because it’s such an unusual surname. It was a bit silly indeed, but it was fun to watch it together with my boyfriend.

  3. Gads you are making me hungry. I turned off revisions and then used a plugin to delete all of the old ones. In you wp.config.php folder right above That is all, Happy Blogging add this line: // Disable post revisions define(‘WP_POST_REVISIONS’, false ); Then install WP=Optimize, delete all revisions and you are done.

  4. I got to the picture of the banana bread cinnamon rolls and just couldn’t read anymore. Those look seriously amazing! Hope you’ve gotten your technical issues dealt with. I hate having to spend time working on things like that. I’m not sure if I’ve seen Tremors but it does sound familiar. I’m always a little wary of Southern accents on movies or TV. I’m from the South and when they don’t get it right or our way off base (like a Texas accent for Alabama) it makes me cringe! Have a great week!

    • You should give them a try, the banana bread cinnamon rolls are easy to make and very yummy. i especially liked to eat them warm.

I actually fixed one of the issues, but I am not sure whether I fixed the bigger picture yet.

I have no knowledge of accents whatsoever and have no idea which accent they did in this movie, but it sounded different then normal.

  5. Oh wow, Tremors! Now that’s an old movie! I don’t remember it well, but I believe I agree with you, it’s not a very good one either LOL.

Boy I wish you lived close to me, I’d help you eat all that yummy goodness you’ve been making! I’m not much of a cook or baker, but I’m tempted to try out those cinnamon rolls! They look so yummy!

You should do a tutorial on how to get rid of revisions, because I KNOW I have tons but I haven’t a clue how to get rid of them. Was it hard?

Have a great week Lola 🙂

    • We just watched Tremors 2 yesterday evenign and thought it was a lot better. I laughed out loud during one of the supposedly scary scenes, so I feel like it’s leaning more towards comedy as horror. We’re going to watch Tremors 3 tonight.

If you follow this link: http://codex.wordpress.org/Editing_wp-config.php#Post_Revisions it gives you one line of code you have to insert in one of your code files and then it’s solved. i had to refresh my posts before it worked though. It’s almost too easy to really do a tutorial for it and I am a bit surprised why there isn’t a simple option in the dashboard.

The cinnamon rolls were really good! And they are pretty easy to make as well. And the banana was such a yummy addition.

I wish you all lived close to me, then I would bake lots of yummy stuff and invite you over to talk about books.

    • I have enough nightmares already whether I watch horror movies or not. And Tremors wasn’t really scary, we watched the second movie yeserday and it was fun.

  6. The Banana Bread Cinnamon Rolls are killing me. THEY ABSOLUTELY ARE. *wipes drool off computer screen* You’re just torturing us with pictures, aren’t you? Also snickerdoodles sound divine. Gah. Now I’m hungry. I made banana bread this week, but it’s all on almonds instead of flour. It was delicious BUT MY DAD ATE IT ALL. -_- Families. Umph.

    • I am happy only my boyfriend and I were home when I made this, I ate 4 or 5 rolls I think. So good! I have never made banana bread, maybe I should give it a try.

    • I did a lot of cooking to compensate for the quieter week with work. I like staying busy. The Teriyaki dish was nice, but it wasn’t really my thing. It was a bit too much of one taste for me. It was really easy to make though, just cook some brocolli and rice and trown the sauce in the same pan as the rest.

I already finished both Debt Collector novella’s I got this week and really enjoyed them!
