What happened this week?
I mentioned last Sunday that we thought we might have a mouse in the house, so we confirmed that later that day as we found droppings. Since then we’ve been figuring out where it got in, what to do about it and then buy the things we need. We bought some mouse friendly traps that capture mice alive, set those out. Then researched which materials works best to close any gaps, ordered that online. And went to a trip to our local grocery stores to get disinfection spray, cleaning wipes and floor cleaner. We also threw away all the food that was stored in that room, this is a small storage room next to our living room and I had put some snacks and bars I couldn’t eat anymore with my gut issues in there as I thought I might be able to get back to those later. Well the mouse had found those and had an all-you-can-eat buffet basically. So we threw all of that out.
Ofcourse things didn’t go smoothly after that. The mouse would not go in the traps, despite internet assuring us we did everything right from bait to placement. And then we had troubles with the package we ordered with the anti-mouse kit I ordered to close the hole. Then we thought the mouse might’ve gone away, so we could start with closing the hole once the package arrived, but then a few days later saw and heard signs up mouse activity again. We even got a scare one day when we returned home from a trip to buy more traps and the mouse ran through the room, that was creepy. We ended up buying some kill traps too as well as another mouse friendly trap, just hoping to find something it goes into.
So this was a very stressful week. It just felt gross and creepy to know we had a mouse in the house and it was tiring to figure out how to deal with it. And it was hard to know where the mouse had been and where not, making it hard to know what was gross and what wasn’t, except for the obvious spots. The mouse also got into one of our cabinets, so we’ll have to fully clean that and everything in there as well. I know more about mice and how to deal with them tan I ever wanted to know and still it isn’t working. I just hope we can get everything cleaned and the mouse removed from the premises soon. I also had some more gut issues due to the stress and hardly slept one night due to intense cramps that kept me sleeping restless most of the night.
And then later in the week we got more bad news. My mom started feeling bad suddenly and went to the hospital. And they found metastases from the cancer. We thought she was clean from the cancer, so it was a big shock to suddenly get this news. And then I heard that an online friend has breast cancer. So that was some tough news to do deal with.

Oof, I sympathise a lot with the rodent issues; it’s actually why me and my wife moved last July, because we were in a rented place and our landlords did exactly nothing to help us. Wishing you luck with everything!
Our landlords aren’t helping either and we should resolve it ourselves. We now hired a pest control company, so hopefully they can help. Sorry to hear you had such struggled with rodents as well and even moved because of it.
I get tons of pop up ads for things to take care of mice on Facebook now. Some sound perfect, but I doubt they really work. Not to mention I have to worry about my dogs getting into things, or some of the things made noises and I figured that would bother my dogs as well. I hope you get it figured out! Sorry to hear about your mom’s news. I hope maybe they will be able to treat that. Here’s hoping it will be a better week for you.

I have the same doubts about some of the things we found to take care of the mice and I know you have to be more careful when you have pets too. I think I read the noises and smell things don’t work. They will attempt treatment for my mom, so we’ll see how that goes.
We had mice for about a week after windows were installed a couple years ago. It totally creeped me out but I knew what to do from trapping them in the garage at a rental property. There was so much cleaning to do. I hope you get them out and plug the hole. I would plug the hole now so you don’t get more and just plan to trap or kill the ones you have. I’m sorry about your Mom and hope they have an effective treatment for her.

Oh man, its still around, ugh. Good thing you got the wall kit and can put that in so that the traps can work. I always had near panic attacks whenever I saw one race across the floor, too. Here’s hoping a trap finally get it.
What disappointing news for your mom and family. I hope the med team can make a plan to help her heal again from this latest bout of cancer.

Yeah I really got quite the shock when I saw it running across the floor, they are so fast! I keep hoping the trap will get it, but no luck so far.
It’s been really sad news about my mom and we’re awaiting more news this week to hear what’s next.
Oh no, I am so sorry to hear about your mom. I really hope she’s able to recover quickly. As with the mouse, it really is frustrating when you put out traps and nothing works. Here’s hoping next week is better for you. <3
I really hope we get some good news this week about how it goes forward, but I have to say it’s hard to stay positive about that with the cancer being back now.
And I don’t get why the mouse won’t get in the traps. I just want to get this resolved soon and start with cleaning everything.

I hope the mouse goes into the no kill traps soon. I used to feed some wild mice in the maintenance shed. They had babies and moved on. An all you can eat buffet…lol That made me laugh. He just wants to be friends. 🐀🐀🐀🐀🐭🐭🐭🐁🐁🐁
I would be happy to be friends with the mouse, but not in my house. I think the mouse has found it’s way outside again and hopefully won’t be back.
