What happened this week?
This was a tough week, we got a massive heat wave here and it’s been really warm. We don’t have AC’s here in the Netherlands in homes usually and it got super hot inside our house as well. It definitely makes me hope we can find some solution for that for next year as it just wasn’t doable. I tried to do as little as possible and still felt miserable most of the day. The bedroom luckily is at least a bit colder than the living room, but still not very pleasant sleeping when it’s that warm. Luckily it should get a bit cooler next week, so that’s good.
On Monday I had a nice visit with my mom and sibling. We went to walk in a nature rich estate in a city close by and we had a great time chatting and walking there. It was a nice place to walk and I definitely hope we can do this again sometime. And it was a good alternative for a lunch as this way I didn’t have to figure out what I could eat.

The heat was really bad in the UK, too. Thankfully we have a couple of portable A/C units from the old flat, and the new house isn’t as bad about retaining temperature, so I was able to stay fairly comfy… The heat broke overnight here so it’s a pretty okay day, thankfully — hope you’re doing better now too!
Sorry to hear you struggled with the heat in the UK as well. That’s nice you have a few portable A/C units to help out. It got colder here as well, but it took a while to get the heat out of the house.
I hope the cooler weather comes quickly. A cheap fan and frozen wet face washers can help!

We got cooler weather this week luckily. we have a small fan, but when it’s that warm it doesn’t feel like enough. Hadn’t heard about frozen wet face washers before.
We’ve also had intense heat over the last week and it’s been grim here, too. I can cope, having spent a chunk of my childhood in Africa where I became acclimatised to hot temperatures, but Himself has been ill with heat exhaustion. So glad it’s cooled off – let’s hope the coming week is kinder to both of us, Lola.
I haven’t been doing well with the heat. That’s helpful you are a bit more used to the weather due to having spent a chunk of your childhood in Africa. Luckily this week is a lot cooler.
It’s no fun when the house gets hot and you don’t have AC. I hope it cools down for you soon! It’s great that you had a nice visit with your family, though. Summerween looks like a fun read—I’m looking forward to your thoughts on it!

Luckily this week it cooled down, it just took some time for the house to get cooler tough. I am glad we got the visit before it got so warm. The set-up for Summerween was so fun and I enjoyed it, but also had some issues with it. Sounds like you had a busy week.
Yeah, miserable trying to sleep when it gets too warm. We’re getting higher temperatures this week so it will be my turn next. Nice that you got to get out with the family on a lovely walk and show them your new neighborhood.

It really was a miserable week with the heat and not getting enough rest. Sorry to hear you’re getting the high temperatures next.
I hope cooler weather is in your near future. Not having AC is frustrating I’m sure.
Not having AC when it’s this warm is very difficult. Luckily this week is colder.
We’re getting extreme heat the next few days but we have aircon. I hope it’s not too bad as we want to go to the zoo on Tuesday. Hopefully this will be a much cooler week.

I don’t know how all of you in countries where AC is not common are doing it. Hopefully it will cool down for you soon!
I don’t know how we handle the heat without AC’s either. I think in the next few years this might change and AC’s will get more common here as well. Luckily this week was a lot less warm.
We’ve been hearing all about the heat wave over in Europe, and I feel for you guys! I would not make it without AC. I mean I turn mine on as soon as it gets in the 70s here because I can’t sleep with it warmer than that. I remember when I visited Scotland a few years ago. The hotel at the beginning of my trip and at the end both had AC, but the cute little cabin we stayed in for the tour did not, and sleep wasn’t easy. I did bring a fan and have the window open at night, but it was nowhere near the temps you guys are having right now. I hope you’re able to get something figured out! Summerween looks cute!
