The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.
What happened this week?
Ugh what a week. We had received a letter for an appointment regarding out financial aid, the date didn’t work for us, so I called them on Monday to change that. This was one of the most difficult phone conversations I’ve ever had as I had to keep persisting and insisting on a new date. The lady on the phone was very unhelpful, lots of judging about us wanting to change the date and super rude too. In the end I got the appointment date changed, but that phone call took so much out of me I didn’t get much else done that done and I ended up with a lot of muscle tension and a headache that lasted for days. And the worst part is that the appointment next week is with that lady, so I am stressed and worried about that. I also didn’t sleep well for a few nights, so I ended up being tired and stressed.
On a more positive note I finally signed up for a new dentist in our new hometown, I procrastinated that few months and I am glad to have that finally done. I have an intake appointment next month. I’ve been having some issues with sensitive teeth or gums, so hopefully I can get that checked out then too.
I also got the results from the test about my bloating and acid reflux and that was negative, so we have to look into other causes. The acid reflux has gotten better now I don’t take ibuprofen anymore, which is hassle as that works better sometimes than other painkillers. The bloating is still pretty bad. My boyfriend also had a doctor’s appointment this week, some bad news and some things that require another appointment somewhere else to figure out. Lots of ongoing things.
We also cleaned out my boyfriend’s computer this week and switched out two of his fans. It makes a lot less noise now, but it hasn’t been fully fixed. We still have to buy some other fans as we didn’t have the right ones to switch those out for both of our computers. My computer still makes an annoying noise.
What did I read this week?
I also finished The Green Sahara, which was great. And DNF’d Not What We Pictured as the writing style didn’t work for me.
This week I blogged about:
– Review: Twelve Angry Librarians by Miranda James
– Review: Ghosts of the Monarchy by Janna Ruth
– Review: The Onion Came First by Elinor Wilder
– Review: Rite of Threats and Revenge by Laura Greenwood
What to expect next week on the blog:
– Review: Berried Secrets by Peg Cochran
– Review: Claws for Concern by Miranda James
– Review: Scythe Grove Academy by Laura Greenwood
– Review: Heart and Soul of the Wolf by Ariana Jade

Oof, hope the appointment goes well when it happens, and the lady drops the attitude. Not a good way to start!
I really need to give Celia Lake’s books a try — did you enjoy that one?
I just keep hoping the lady was just having a bad day for some reason and that’s why she was so rude instead of that being her normal way of being.
Yes I really enjoyed the two Celia Lake books I read so far, I can definitely recommend them. I am totally hooked on her world and already started another book.
So sorry that the telephone call was such a disaster. I appreciate your dreading the meeting with her – but it might have been that she was have a really bad day and when stressed, tends to come across as grumpy. Himself – who is such a kind person – often sounds as if he’s losing his temper on the phone when it’s more that he feels wound up at not being able to see the person he’s talking to. If she’s a bossy mare – you’ll be able to suss that in a heartbeat when you walk into the meeting. Otherwise – try to start off by giving her the benefit of the doubt… That’s happened to me so often over the years. Wishing you a better week:)).
Yeah I keep trying to stay hopeful that she just had a really bad day or is not good with phone calls, but it sure isn’t a good way to start a meeting we’re already stressed about. I definitely agree with you that people can come across differently than they mean to be for various reasons, so let’s hope that’s what happened here. And indeed we’ll be able to spot quickly if she is the same in person as in the phone call when we walk into the meeting.
I hope the financial aid appointment goes well. It is always stressful to deal with someone like that woman, and now that’s who you have to talk to? Ugh. Hopefully she was just in a bad mood at that moment and it won’t be that bad. I finally got an appointment scheduled with my dentist after cancelling the one I had last spring. I also have been trying to stop taking ibuprofen because my nutritionist friend and my doctor have said it is bad for you. But then this weekend I had a horrible shoulder and arm pain and so that’s all I had to take. I need to get more Tylenol in the house. Although like you, I don’t feel like it works as well as the ibuprofen. Wishing you a better week!

I am definitely hoping she just had a really bad day and the appointment goes well, but even so that just is very unprofessional of her to handle the phone call like that and it made our anxiety about the meeting worse. Moving an appointment shouldn’t be that hard. I hope your dentist appointment goes well. And I agree paracetamol isn’t enough sometimes and doesn’t work as well as ibuprofen, but I’ll try and avoid it as often as I can.
Oh my, hope the week until the new appointment allows the emotional dust to clear before you and that gal meet – never can tell if that was just a bad day and things will be much better now. Too bad there wasn’t a definitive medical answer for the bloating. Maybe the food diaries and tracking what you eat will pinpoint the problem. Hopefully, you guys get the fans in for the computer to reduce the annoying sounds.
Hope this is a better week for you, Lola!
Let’s hope it was just her havign a bad day, but still not a good tone to start the appointment with to have that phone call go so badly. Moving an appointment shouldn’t be that hard :(. I hope they can figure out with additional test what’s causing the bloating, but frustrating to not have an answer yet.
I’m hoping things go better this week. You are working on all the issues and that is what you can do. Medical things are tough. We have worked on my daughter’s issues for years.

I hope so too. I didn’t realize it took you so long to figure out what was going on with your daughter, It sure is a shame it can take so long to figure out.
I’m sorry the phone call was so frustrating; that sounds like a miserable experience. I hope the in-person appointment goes more smoothly. And I really hope you find an answer for the bloating, too. It can take time—and being persistent in asking for tests—to get the right diagnosis.
I sure hope the appointment goes smoother than the phone call as it really was a miserable phone call for something that should’ve been so easy. It’s hard to stay persistent and in trying to find out the cause, but I am determined to figure out what’s causing it as I want to feel better.
Booo to that financial aid lady. Sending good vibes to you for all your appointments.
Thanks! I hope she was just having a bad day, but that phone call definitely got me way more stressed about that appointment.
I’m sorry you’ve had such a difficult week, I hope the appointment goes smoothly.
I’ve found those little probiotic shot drinks have helped me with bloating if it’s something you’d consider trying. They are pretty cheap and taste better than you might think.
Wishing you a lovely reading week
I hope the appointment goes well too. I already started drinking probiotics last year, I have this one flavor with blue berry that I really like and like you said they aren’t too pricey and taste good. Not sure if it helps at all with the bloating, but maybe it would be even worse without it.
Goodness, it really shouldn’t have been a big deal to change a date for an appointment. I hope the appointment goes well with this lady, she sounds like an idiot.
Strangely enough the appointment went really well, so I don’t get why changing the date for the appointment was so difficult.
