sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This week was just very rough and tiring. I struggled mentally and had lot of anxiety this week and just feeling well. I am not even quite sure why, a combination of some things, some changes in routine and being still tired from last week. And we had some gloomy days that were getting to me as I still struggle with my lower mood and energy levels this winter. We also got a note about an appointment regarding our financial aid, whcih has me stressed.

I got a test done this week for some bloating and acid reflux symptoms I’ve been struggling with for a while now. I get the results next week, so hopefully that tells me something. The doctor had recommended to not use ibuprofen and similar medicines for now, so I had to get through a period migraine without that and with only paracetamol. That was a bit difficult and I had a bit more pain than previous months, but it was doable once I changed my painkiller schedule and the acid reflux has been less.

I also accidentally ate something with a form of rapeseed oil that I am intolerant to and had some stomach discomfort for a few days, but luckily I didn’t have to to vomit, so that’s good at least. Then the day after that I ate something and only realized the container was broken after I finished it, but I didn’t notice any bad effects from eating that so far and my stomach was still acting up form the day before, so if that food caused any discomfort I couldn’t tell.

I’ve also been struggling a bit finding the exact type books I want to read, but also because I wasn’t feeling too well had some trouble getting into the books I was reading. I have finished a few good ones as well and have some good reads going on.

What did I read this week?

  1. I’m sorry you had such a bad week! I know my nutritionist friend wants me to stop taking so much ibuprofen because that is part of why I have inflammation issues, but there are times I still need to. But I’ve cut way back. I’m lucky that I don’t have migraines like you though, I can’t imagine dealing with that without the help. I’m trying to cut all kinds of seed oils out because of the issues they cause with inflammation too. But not allergic like you are, so again I’m lucky in that regard. Sorry you ended up with all those issues and I hate when not feeling well keeps me from being able to read. It’s like reading is our comfort and we need it especially in those times. I’m hoping you have a better week!

I thought ibuprofen was supposed to help against inflammation, good to know it can also cause those issues. My acid reflux got way less since I stopped taking ibuprofen, so I’ll see if I can manage without it, but it’s tough as sometimes just paracetamol doesn’t help enough, but the doctor didn’t have anything else I could take. I’ll have to look into that with seed oils causing inflammation and see if I can cut more out of my diet too. It was rough havign all those issues going on and trouble finding the right books to read. I agree especially in these times having a good book is so helpful.

  2. Sorry you’ve had such a difficult week. I suffer from acid reflux as well and it seems to get worse when I’m anxious. Omeprazole really helps my symptoms. Hopefully the test will give you some more information.

The Ghost Story Witch & The Boisterous Ferret sounds bizarre but brilliant!

I got some medicine for the acid reflux, but haven’t tried it yet as I wnated to see if not taking ibuprofen made a difference first. I don’t think the one I have is Omeprazole, but something similar. The test came back negative, so that bacteria wasn’t the cause. The Ghost Story Witch & The Boisterous Ferret was such a fun one, I can definitely recommend it.

  3. You have my sympathies for all the health discomfort and energy troubles. I got a whopper of a headache this week as well so I can truly emphasize for your period headache.

Hopefully this week will go much better for you, Lola!

This winter has been such a struggle with things going and the health discomfort on top of my usual energy troubles. I think all the health issues make me even more tired. Yeah going through the period headache without ibuprofen was a struggle, but it was good to see how it made a difference for the acid reflux.

  4. I’m sorry it was a rough time. My daughter can’t take ibuprofen at all because of her gut issues and other medications. I’m feeling the lower energy and blah of darker days this winter more than usual. I ordered a lamp and we will see if that helps any. Hope you have a better week ahead.

Sorry to hear your daughter can’t rake ibuprofen either. It’s a shame as sometimes ibuprofen is much more effective than paracetamol. I hope your lamp helps you, I find mine helpful for my energy levels even if it doens’t help as much as I want it’s still a big difference to without a lamp.

I hope so too, it’s been tiring having to deal with the symptoms all the time. So I hope they can figure out what’s causing it.
