The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.
What happened this week?
Happy new Year!
Looking back at 2025, it was quite the stressful and tiring year. It started with a lot of financial stress and looking for a new house, then we finally found a new house, but the preparing to move and moving were super stressful and tiring. Then we got the news my mom has cancer and didn’t have long to life, somehow she made it through treatment and a major surgery and is still doing decently. I sure hope 2026 is a calmer and more peaceful year. I am glad we found a new place to live and our new house and town quickly felt like home.
Now let’s look back at this week. I am not a fan of New Year’s Eve, the loud fireworks are always very dysregulating to me and I always struggle with that day and am happy it’s over again. It seems the Dutch government will forbid all fireworks for consumers starting next year, so that’s good news and hopefully that means it will be less noisy going forward. I bought some traditional dutch treats for the end of the year named Oliebollen (literally translated oil balls, they taste better than they sound). Besides that we had some cold and windy weather this week and some snow even.
This week wrapped up my blog posts about my favorite 2025 lists with my Top 9 Books with Neurodivergent Characters of 2025 and I also did a post about 12 Books I am Excited for that are Releasing in 2026
What did I read this week?
I had a good reading week and finished a lot of books. Heart And Soul Of The Wolf didn’t quite work for me, but the rest were all solid 4 stars reads.

Moving is a nightmare. I was so happy when it was over and never want to move again. I am glad your mom is doing good and I will keep sending positive vibes your way.
OlieBollen look just like what we have here but we call them Zappoles. You would find them at Italian Street Fairs. They are delicious.
Hope this year is amazing for you and also this week! Happy Reading, my friend! oxoxo
Same here, I never want to move again, that move last year was so stressful. Thanks for the positive vibes.
I googled Zappoles and those do look exactly like Oliebollen except here they often sell them with raisins in them as well. They are delicious.
Here’s to an amazing 2026 for you too!
Every time I think about how when my dogs are gone I want to move to an apartment and have someone else be in charge of the things that go wrong, then I imagine packing all my books and dread it. I’m glad that your mom is continuing to do well after that scary diagnosis earlier this year. And I’m glad you are in your new place and that is going well. Looks like a very good reading week too! Hope this is a good week as well!

I do like that about an apartment and how we can just call the company we rent it from if something is wrong. And I totally get your dread of packing and moving, moving is horrible and sorting through all my books and packing them was annoying. I am very happy we moved, but I also would be happy to never move again. So far we’re loving this new place and the town we live in. We’ll have to wait and see how it goes with my mom’s health, but so far she already survived longer than the doctor initially though, so that’s good at least.
I hope this year is better for you. I’m glad your mom is doing better. It was loud here on New Year’s as well. I always stay home with Falcor when I know there will be fireworks going off because he doesn’t like them but as long as someone is here with him, he’s ok.
That’s nice you stayed home with Falcor so he would be okay. I always stay home when I know there will be fireworks, they are always so loud.
Sending good vibes for 2026 your way!
Thank you!
Moving eats up a lot of energy but now you are in a place that feels right. I hope that provides a foundation for a great 2026!
Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
I am happy we found such a nice place. Moving is so stressful and I hope we won’t have to do that again or not anytime soon anyway. I hope it provides a good foundation for a good 2026. Happy new year to you too!
Moving is a nightmare. So glad your mom is doing well!
Thanks! Moving really is a nightmare, I am still so glad that’s over now.
Moving is never easy, but I am glad you ended up being happy with the new house and neighborhood. So happy to hear your Mom is doing well. Hugs.
The move was so stressful, but I am glad we’re in a new place and are happy with the place and town so far. I hope my mom continues to do well.
