sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This was a busy week. There was a lot to do and we had a lot of things going on most related to the new house. Eventually at the end of the week we finally managed to resolve some of the issues, which was nice. Hopefully in a few more weeks we got everything how we want to in the new house. I also had a big formatting job for one of my authors I worked on, which was fun.

I mentioned last week that we had a leaking sink and we heard we had to resolve that ourselves, so this week I figured out where the sink was from and contacted the company to see if they still had the parts for it. They were very helpful, but unfortunately it’s an older model and they don’t have those parts available anymore and their new parts wouldn’t fit on our sink. So then we decided to find out were exactly the leak occurs so we could see if we could get the same sized parts elsewhere. Eventually we found out the leak was in a very different spot and we didn’t need new parts and it was a hole in the faucet causing it. And then later that week someone came to replace the shower faucet and we asked them if they could fix the faucet as well and they did. So far the solution seems to have resolved the leaking, we’re keeping an eye on it for a few more days, but hopefully this finally got resolved.

Besides that we got an issue with our internet resolved this week, which took some time and an appointment. My boyfriend had washed some of our carpets last week and we put those on their place. One of them was too large for our new house so we want to buy a smaller carpet for that room. And an issue with our transfer to our new general practitioner finally has been resolved so we can order our medicines again here.

I also spend some time trying to figure out what is going on with my blog. I thought maybe my commenting plugin was causing the issue and it’s no longer supported so I removed that. I don’t think this fixed the issue sadly. I hate trying to resolve blog issues as the whole thing is so complicated. Which comment plugin are you using on your blog? I am deciding whether to keep the native commenting system or install another comment plugin, so I would love your feedback and whether you have any issues when commenting.

And an update on my mom. She could go home this week after they transitioned her off the tube feeding in the hospital, so that was some good news. She can now stay at home to await her next cancer treatment.

What did I read this week?

  1. It sounds like the week when everything has finally begun to come together since before your move. Good news that your mother is finally back at home again. And any water leak is a misery – I’m a bit shocked that you had to sort this one out on your own, given just how destructive water can be. But delighted you managed to get it fixed. I’m not sure what issues you’re having with your blog – but I will report that I’ve never had any problems accessing it, or commenting. In fact your blog is one of the most user-friendly of those I regularly visit. Don’t know if that helps! Here’s hope the coming week is a good one, Lola.

    • It really felt good to get some of these things finally resolved. And it was such good news to hear my mom is back home. Luckily it was a small leak and a bucket below the leak worked well, but still frustrating it took this long.

I am experiencing a lot of down time as bots are visiting my blog a lot and the amount of traffic is too much for my site to handle. It’s a pain. I am glad to hear you think my blog is so user friendly, that’s great to hear :).

  2. Glad your mom was able to go home. And glad you’re finally getting things in your house to start falling into place. I’m still having issues but am not giving up on reading and trying to comment! We will see if this comment goes through. Fingers crossed!

  3. You really handled a lot this week. I don’t think I use a Comment plugin so much as I use the Ultimate Book Blogger and it handles those features and if something goes wrong I get pointed in the right direction by Ashley so I’m no help there. So glad your Mom was able to be home and hope her next treatment goes well.

    • That’s nice you have that plugin to handle everything and that Ashley can help you out if something goes wrong. Blog issues are so frustrating to figure out. I am glad my mom was able to go home and her next treatment this week went well.
