sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

I struggled a lot with feeling anxious this week. It’s just far enough from the move that I am starting to feel a bit less stressed, but then there are still a lot of things not quite right yet and we still had the cleaning and painting of the old house going on. And it all resulted in me feeling very anxious. I didn’t see my boyfriend much as he was doing a lot of work in the old house. I mostly did some household chores here as well as some more cleaning and other things. I also explored the neighborhood a bit, which has been nice. When my boyfriend was home the whole day on Friday after the inspection at the old house we had a nice walk to a nearby nature area which was very pretty.

So the inspection of the old house happened, most things were good, but they still have some things we need to fix or else we have to pay 5000 euro. That seemed ridiculously much for a few things like some minor damage on a door, a mirror that was still stuck on a door (it was like that when we got it, but as we have no proof of that it doesn’t count and we have to remove it) and some walls they wanted painted white as they are now beige. Anyway we got another week to fix that and if not we have to pay that money, so ofcourse we’re going to try and fix it as that’s way cheaper. I am just annoyed now we have to deal with this another week instead of being done with it and they already did so much work on the old house to get it in line with these very specific regulations that don’t make sense.

I also got more information about my mom’s cancer, she has ovary cancer in a late stage, but ovary cancer is better treatable than the other types they thought she might have, so that’s still a bit of a positive news. I am just worried because it’s in such a late stage already and there is quite a lot of intense treatment she has to undergo, let’s hope it all goes well.

  1. Moving is the worst. After moving to our house, we are now selling my moms (after she passed) cleaning things and getting this done is expensive and just a lot of work.

I am glad you got to spend some time with your boyfriend on friday, it’s good you had a nice walk.

Sorry to hear about your mom, I do hope she is clear soon. Ovarian can be more treatable and it’s good they are able to get this moving to get her better.

I hope this week is awesome for you Lola! Happy Reading! xoxo

    • I totally agree moving is the worst, I am not sure if I can handle moving again, this move was way too much. I was sorry to hear about mom passing and that sounds tough having to clean out her house.

It was nice to have that one relaxing day and spend some time with my boyfriend.

I didn’t know that, so it’s good to hear ovarian cancer is more treatable, so I am hoping for the best.

Wow! That is really expensive for what seems like just a few small things to be done. Ugh. I hope that you guys can get all that fixed quickly, easily, and cheaply this week and then that will be one less thing to stress you. I love that you are able to walk in your new neighborhood. I wish I had a better area for that with sidewalks. Sending prayers and positive vibes for your mom. Hoping they can get a treatment that isn’t too traumatic but that will help her out. Have a better week!

    • We were both really annoyed at how much money they are charging if we don’t fix it, we really feel that this is just a way for them to get more money and we hope we can fix it all and don’t have to pay anything. It sure has been way more stressful than we wanted.

Here in the Netherlands cities are pretty walkable luckily with lots of sidewalks and we have cycling roads too, so it’s been nice being able to explore the neighborhood.

I am really hoping the treatment will help, she’s very determined to go through the treatment, but it sounds like it will be very intense and I hope it won’t be too traumatic or tough for her.

    • I hope we can wrap up all the things at the old house this week and then focus on the new house going forward. Thanks for the best wishes for my mom!

  3. Too bad about those ticky-tack issues at the old place and very frustrating when you know some of it was that way before you got there. Hopefully, it goes smoothly with this week’s efforts and your done and dusted with the place. Partially good news about your mom with the cancer being very treatable. Still, she’ll have it rough going through treatments, I’m sure. Ah, sweet that you had a nature date on Friday to relax. Looks like you got a fair bit done and some reading. I just started the Annette Marie Guild Codex series this week.

    Have a good week, Lola!

    • I hope we can get it all done at the new house and don’t have to pay anything, but it sure was more stressful and took longer than we had hoped.

It was a bit of good news with my mom’s cancer being a more treatable cancer, but not so good that it’s in a far stage already. I definitely think she will have it rough going through the treatments.

Oh that’s so exciting you started the Guild Codex series! I really like that series.

  4. Yes… I always think it’a a huge racket the way rental businesses behave at the end of the lease. Ethan has just gone through the whole nonsense – the place he moved into was absolutely filthy. Stuff plastered across the walls that he had to scrub off and lots of hair he needed to hoover up off the carpet – and when he moved out, he accidentally left a bag in one of the drawers, so they’ve stopped £40.00 for a ‘deep clean’ of the room. I hope that you manage to get the details sorted out this coming week.

As for your mom – it sounds like she’s got a tough time ahead, but it’s great that she’s got such a determined attitude and at least they have a treatment plan all mapped out and ready to go. Wishing her well.

I hope the coming week is a good one, Lola.

    • The rental company had been good until now, but this mess at the end definitely was not nice. It really felt like a money grab. Luckily nowadays they takek pictures of everything so it will be easier to show how we got the place if we ever move away here. Such a hassle Ethan had to go through that and I hope he found a way to not pay that ridiculous bill. Really how deep are they going to clean that room for that money?

My mom definitely has a very determined attitude about it all and I hope that helps. It sure sounds like it will be a very intense and difficult treatment process.
