The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.
What happened this week?
This was a pretty decent week. I got some smaller things done and had a nice week until my period migraine hit later in the week. I struggled with the usual brain fog, but the pain wasn’t too bad. I feel like I finally found the right balance with the meds and what to eat and what not. I am always careful with how much sugar I eat as I know my body doesn’t respond well to the sugar spikes, but I always ate more sugar during my period as I am feeling worse. Now I know not to do anymore as I feel a lot better if I don’t eat as much sugar.
I tried calling the person for questions about the rent going up as we can’t really afford it, but couldn’t get hold of them, so I’ll have to try again next week. I was frustrated I couldn’t get that done, but it was 5 May this week which is Liberation day here, so I thought maybe she had a few days off. I’ll try again next week.
I got some cleaning and de-dusting around the house done, which felt good to get done. And I think we finally resolved the issue with mosquitos getting inside the house, so that’s a relief. We still have one left somewhere in the house which was before we applied the last netting Saturday, but haven’t noticed any additional ones getting though, so that’s tentative good news.
I also got some assistant work done for one of the authors I work for, mostly some social media posting, some updating of the new book covers for one of her series and more prooflistening.
What did I read this week?
Finished three great books this week. Goat Magic was so fun and I really enjoyed this graphic novel and the pretty artwork.
Monster’s Mistake was a great read by one of my favorite authors and I really liked the romance and all the stuff about being a gorgon.
The Potion Dealers was awesome, I loved it so much, great story and characters that feel real by one of my favorite authors.
Dragons & Dumplings is a prequel to a new series. I was so excited for this new series and this prequel was great with a likable and relatable main character, a slow burn friend to lovers romance and plenty of baking.
This week I blogged about:
– Review: Paper Cuts by Ellery Adams
– Review: The King’s Weaver by Novae Caelum
– Review: Sabre Woods Academy by Laura Greenwood
What to expect next week on the blog:
– Review: Mystery at an Irish Wedding by L.C. Winters
– Review: Axing at the Antique Store by Beth Dolgner
– Review: Winning Back Persephone by Laura Greenwood
I love Graphic Novels, I will have to look into Goat Magic 😁. Have a great week!
I hope you check out Goat Magic, it was so fun. I got it through Netgalley, maybe it’s still available?
Way to go figuring out how to alleviate most of the suffering from your period migraines and dealing with the mosquito issue. Happy belated Liberation day! And, hopefully now your housing manager is back in. Good reading week for you, too.
Have a good week, Lola!
It’s a shame I can’t eat all the sugar and pastries I want anymore during my period, but it made such a different, I am just glad I found something that helped. Thanks for the reminder to call about the rent, hopefully I can get that done today.
Yay for hopefully blocking the mosquitos! I hope you can get the rent thing figured out. You have some good books there and some reviews I need to get to! Only 2 more weeks of school and then I hope to be home and get caught up on reading blogs.

Fingers crossed this is the last we see of the mosquitos, but that one remaining one is still in our house somewhere. I really hope I can get the rent thing changes, but I don’t have high hopes. That’s exciting you only have 2 more weeks of school left!
Finger crossed you are done with the mosquitos. It’s hard to move but maybe you could find a better place without the mosquitos? Otherwise I hope you figure it out. I would find it hard not to have some sugar. I like sweets.
Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
We are looking for a new place, but it’s tough finding a new place with the way social housing works here and we haven’t been signed up to the sites long enough to have a high chance for getting a house.
On the bright side I do think we have the mosquito thing figured out, as long as we can find that lone remaining one in our house.
It is hard to eat less sugar as I always crave pastries on my period, but it made such a difference in how I felt to eat less sugar. I still eat some sugar, but not as much and not as much at once.
I bought a can of compressed air and kept it around when the gnats got in. When you spray it, it gets so cold that it freezes the gnats and they fall to the ground. LOL I realized they were getting in through the sink drains and put drain stoppers on the drains. But that compressed air works great for stopping small flying bugs in their tracks.
I have diabetes so I try not to eat a lot of sugar either, it’s so hard though because I love sweets.
Oh I never heard of using compressed air for that. That’s a good tip. Although the problem is sometimes finding the mosquitos. We also have drain stoppers on our drains after they got int through the sink drains last year, that really helped.
Same here, I love sweets, but I feel so much better if I don’t eat too much of it. I still eat some, but try not to eat too much or too much at once.
That’s a great tip for compressed air as a bug killer without filling the house with poisonous chemicals! And like you – I’ve found that sugar isn’t my friend when it comes to tackling my long covid exhaustion. I also found that I’ve a lot less wrinkles on the days I don’t eat sugar:). Best of luck with finding somewhere else to live – it’s really hard when housing keeps on going up in price:(.
It’s a shame I cna’t eat as much sugar, but it made such a big difference in how I feel that it’s worth being careful with it. Sorry to hear you have the same issue with your long covid exhaustion and how sugar isn’t your friend either.
There isn’t enough cheaper housing here, which is a problem. I hope we can find something else in a relatively short time.
