sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This was a bit of a stressful week. They’re going to do some major renovations here with the windows and I am already stressing about it as it’s happening soon. Not only will we have to move furniture so they can access the windows, but there will be people in our house the whole day which stresses me out. Besides that we had some minor things going not as smoothly. It just tired me out.

On the days we could we did a bit more cleaning out, it’s been tiring, but also good to make progress. This week we tackled two of our messiest rooms, we basically just threw things on the floors there and left it as we didn’t have the time or energy to deal with it. We got a lot of the stuff on the floor cleaned up now. Found a bunch of socks and slippers that I didn’t realize we had this many of, so now we can actually use those. And we threw a lot away or put in boxes to donate or sell. I also dealt with how much throwing things away makes me anxious, but it’s also a relief to get it done and have less stuff to deal with.

And one of our fire alarms went off with the noise that meant it was broken or the batteries didn’t work anymore. We couldn’t figure out how to get it off the ceiling for a while and all the while it kept making noise every 45 seconds. Eventually we pulled it off the ceiling and found out it was a model that you couldn’t switch out the batteries and then more time was spend figuring out how to turn off the alarm about it being broken. We finally figured it out, but that took more effort and time than we hoped and it was stressful. Loud noises are very stressful for me due to my sensory sensitivities.

What did I read this week?

All for Knot: Book 1Her Texas CowboyIntara's Guide to Cozy ValesThe Very Secret Society of Irregular WitchesThe Whispered Word

I started the week with a DNF and then some good reads. I didn’t list the DNF here.
All for Knot: Book 1 was a great one. I was in the mood for a book by a familiar author and this one fit the bill.
Her Texas Cowboy was the third book in this fun series about three sisters traveling together in an RV and all finding love along the way.
Intara’s Guide to Cozy Vales was a fun cozy fantasy travelogue. I enjoyed it and the cozy vibes.
The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches was a re-read and I enjoyed it just was much as the first time.
The Whispered Word was the second book in the series and I enjoyed it even mroe than the first one. Realistic characters and a compelling mystery.

This week I blogged about:

– Review: Stalking Around the Christmas Tree by Jacqueline Frost
– Review: Rite of Blood and Bonds by Laura Greenwood
– Review: Go Ahead…Pick Me Up! Put Me on Your Backpack! by Dr. Pamela J. Boehm

    • I agree all home repairs are stressful, but outdoors ones are bit preferable.

Her Texas Cowboy was a good one, as was the whole series.

  1. Hallo, Hallo Lola,

It has been awhile I know since we’ve been in touch – I saw your comment on The Sunday Post, where I was leaving my own comment as I like to update my blog via that meme whenever I can. I spied a mutual read of ours – The Secret Society of Irregular Witches. It is on my #SpooktasticReads TBR and I’m looking forward to starting to listen to it at long last! I’ve only attempted it so many times and faltered to connect into it due to different reasons. Mostly lack of time. Most of my reads this year are Witchy but I am exploring other Spooky Reads too which will be revealled as the event goes forward.

I never have a chance for rereads of late so that is a luxury I wish I could have myself. Glad to know its a good choice as it was rec’d to me earlier in the year, too.

    • I look forward to hearing what you think of The Secret Society of Irregular Witches, I really enjoyed that book. I rarely take the time for re-reads either, but I’ve been trying to do that more regularly.

    • I just really get anxious about the act of throwing things away. Like you I haven’t missed anything I threw away so far, so that’s good. I hope that trend continues for both of us as we get rid of more.

  2. Yes we had a go round with the carbon monoxide detector earlier in the month. It was more shrieky than chirpy. I had half the windows replaced last summer and they were fast, one day. Like you, I hate having people in the house. They left the front door open a lot. I was worried about bugs but they let in a mouse I had to trap. UGH. I hope yours goes much better.

    • It’s a pain when those detectors stop working and making that sound, sorry you had to deal with that as well. The windows should take only a day here as well luckily. I just hate having people in my house and with our mosquitos problem I am afraid a lot will get in while the windows and door are open, we won’t have any mosquito netting until we can set up new one either. That sounds annoying they let in a mouse in your house.
