sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

It was so warm this week! I don’t deal well with heat and felt very overwhelmed and disregulated because of the heat most of the week. We don’t have air conditioning and it got very warm in our house. Luckily it’s getting a bit cooler already and should stay that way next week as well, so hopefully we can cool our house down a bit.

Besides that we continued cleaning out the house, which went a bit slower due to the heat, but I am still glad we got a few things done.

Still some mosquitos in the house, but we found most during the day. Until last night when there were 9 of them total during the night that kept waking us. On top of too little sleep I have a swollen eye now as one of them bit me there and my allergic reaction causes it to swell a lot. I don’t even know anymore where they can come from as we have mosquito netting on all windows and the way we thought they got in has been sealed of.

I also went for an eye measurement at a nearby optician as I thought my eyes had gotten worse, turns out they actually have gotten better and I have ordered new glasses which should arrive in a few weeks. It was a bit stressful, but I had a kind and patient employee, which helped. I still felt tired after the appointment and needed some time to regulate and relax, but I am glad to have that done.

Work wise I worked some more on the special edition paperback and ebook I am formatting for one of my authors, it’s been a lot of tweaking and figuring out how to do some of the special things, but the versions are looking very pretty and it’s been fun to do.

What did I read this week?

Pippi's Inn for Wandering SpiritsDungeons and Drama

Pippi’s Inn for Wandering Spirits was a lovely cozy fantasy read with a sentient inn and a likable main character. I didn’t care for the romance, but the rest was great.
Dungeons and Drama was a cute and fun contemporary romance with the fake dating trope and a D&D, board game and musical theme.

This week I blogged about:

Review: Otherworldly Izakaya Nobu 1 by Natsuya Semikawa
Review: Cursed by Lindsay Buroker
Review: Still Life and Death by Tracy Gardner

  1. No air conditioning? I would die! I am not a fan of this heat at all. I hope you’re able to get some relief. The mosquito thing is crazy! I had a couple on me last week outside. But I must have got them off me right after they started because I haven’t had the normal bites swell up, just felt when they first landed and tried to bite me. Dungeons and Drama is on my TBR, glad to hear it was good!

    • Without air conditioning this heat is just too much. Luckily this week was a lot colder. I can’t figure out the mosquito problem and it’s driving us crazy, they’re so annoying. That’s good you got those mosquitos off you right away so they couldn’t bite. Dungeons and Drama was great, I look forward to hear your thoughts about it.

  2. Yes, the heat is like a vampire sapping our energy, right? What a pain to keep getting those mosquitoes inside! Somewhere nearby, somebody’s got a container with standing water in it for them to keep showing up. I’m glad you made it through the eye appointment and could relax after that. Ouch to the swollen eye from the bite.

Hopefully this week will be better, Lola!

    • That made me laugh how you worded that, I agree the heat is like a vampire. The mosquitos really bother me, we do live close to water en there are some gardens below us, so that’s probably part of it. I heard there are more mosquitos than usual this year due to the wet spring. The eye swelling went down quite quickly luckily, but it sure was annoying.

    • The heat was really bad that week, luckily this week it was a lot cooler. I am glad I had such a patient optometrist, that helped.
