sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

Woohoo this is Sunday Post #600!

This week started off pretty good, then some things went a bit less smoothly. I am still figuring out what I can and can’t do on a day. And later in the week I had some things pile up and some fuller days that made me tired.

I baked some cookies early in the week, they were chocolate covered cookies with orange peel in them. I came up with the recipe myself and used the basic cookie recipe from another recipe. They were really good!

We started with cleaning out some things in the house, we have a lot of things we just put somewhere without looking at or deciding whether we wanted to keep it and we’re trying to slowly work our way through the house. It’s going to be a huge task, but we’re trying to take it slow.

The mosquito situation continued to improve, we’ve spotted less of them this week than the previous ones. We still found a bunch, but I feel like the situation is improving. I still got bitten a few time,s but luckily the anti-histamine pills kept workign well against my allergic reaction.

I continued with cleaning out my inbox and have unsubscribed from even more emails. I am now receiving less emails per day and mostly ones I am interested in, which is good.

Work wise I had a fun formatting task to work on. One of the authors I work for wanted a special edition paperback and ebook with fancy artwork and chapter headings and it was so fun to work on it. I am now waiting on feedback to see what needs to be changed.

What did I read this week?

Love by a LandslideHoney and PepperThe Cookie Crumbles

Love by a Landslide was unfortunately a DNF. It felt slow, boring and too trope-y and typical for me and I couldn’t get into it.

Honey and Pepper was a great gay romance story set in a fictional world inspired by ancient Rome, it felt fresh and unique and had a nice slice of slice cozy vibe.

The Cookie Crumbles had a great set up with a cookie competition and a mystery, but couldn’t fully keep my attention and had lots of small things that didn’t work for me. It did get better the further I got and the ending and wrap up was well done.

This week I blogged about:

Review: Self-Care for Autistic People by Megan Anna Neff
Review: Dating a Music God by Laura Greenwood and Arizona Tape
Review: Blue’s Dawn by Cecilia Randell

What to expect next week on the blog:

– Review: The Nameless Storm by Novae Caelum
– Review: Recalling Memories for Forgetful Phoenixes by Laura Greenwood
– Review: Otherworldly by F.T. Lukens

    • I thought it sounded so good, so I was sad it turned into a DNF. I hope it continues this way and we’ll soon be rid of all the mosquitos.

My little household pests are the little black ants. I’ve set out ant traps and am careful not to leave food out or open, but they are persistent. 🙂 Bummer you had a DNF. Your special edition formatting project does sound neat. Hope the house cleanout goes great.
I wish I lived close enough to try your cookies. 🙂

    Have a good week, Lola!

    • Sorry to hear about the black ants being so persistent even with the traps and you not leaving out any food. It was a shame about the DNF as it sounded so good. I am havign fun with the special edition formatting project.

I wish you lived close enough so I could share some of my cookies 🙂

  2. Well you are doing a lot so not surprising to be tired sometimes. The decluttering is exhausting and I can’t get to it right now with repairs and medical appts and general house stuff. But it’s in my mind. You have a talent with cooking!

    • We finally had some time to declutter after years of not being able to, so it’s good to get to it, but it really is exhausting. Good luck with your repairs and medical appts.

  3. I know what you mean about decluttering. We’ll have been living in the same house for 30 years come October so it’s past time we had a big clear-out. But it’s very tiring! Glad you are gradually getting on top of the mosquito problem – and the bites are not so bad. I use anti-histamine cream which is a lifesaver this time of year. Have a great week, Lola.

    • We’ve been living here nowhere near as long, but took a lot of clutter with us from our previous houses and never had the chance to clean it out and then only accumulated more stuff we didn’t want somehow. It really is tiring sorting through everything, but so worth it.

I haven’t been able to find an anti-histamine cream yet, but luckily the pills work well. I hope in another week or so we can get completely rid of the mosquitos.
