sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This week didn’t go as smoothly. I had a visit with my mom and I was quite tired afterwards. I still haven’t figured out how to make social events less tiring. I ate something that didn’t agree with me and my stomach was upset for two days, which was not nice. Then my boyfriend had an important and stressful appointment, which he felt didn’t go well, so that was stressful too.

And I didn’t sleep well for multiple nights due to mosquitos in the house. I don’t react well to mosquito bites and I am allergic to their bites, so I got some bad bumps which caused sensory discomfort on top of my feeling bad due to not enough sleep. We think we figured out how they entered our house and hope to make sure that will no longer be an option. The last two nights no mosquitos, so fingers crossed we resolved that.

I didn’t get as much work done, but luckily I didn’t have a lot that needed to be done. I put a review opportunity live for a non-fiction book early this week. Then later in the week I got some work done for one of the authors I do assistant work for, I worked on a variety of tasks and am feeling good about catching up on some of the work, hopefully I can get to the rest next week. I closed the tour that I organized that ended this week and checked some new sign ups for review copies.

  1. Urg! Mosquito bites… These days, they tend to leave me alone, I’m guessing my aging body isn’t all that inviting. But I do recall being regularly covered in bites. Glad you’ve discovered where they’re getting in and stopped it. I hope you manage to get some rest this weekend before next week’s workload. Have a better week, Lola.

    • I am glad I don’t have as severe allergic reactions as when I was a kid, but the mosquito bites are still pretty bad and they always prefer me over my partner. We’re still finding mosquitos, so not sure if they came in before this or if there is another way they’re getting in.

    • Same here social event are just so stressful and I still can’t manage to fully unmask on all social situations which makes it more tiring. Sorry to hear you also deal with that :(. That burned out feeling afterwards is so difficult.

  2. Ugh, sorry you had such a lousy week. I had a few nights where I couldn’t get to sleep either. Saturday I seemed to be dizzy all day for no reason that I could tell. Although once I threw up I felt mostly better the rest of the day. Hope you have a better week!

    • Sorry to hear you had some trouble sleeping as well and were dizzy. I hate throwing up, but it is helpful how it can make you feel better afterwards sometimes.

    • I hope so too, so far we’re still finding mosquitos, but not sure if that’s because our solution didn’t work or because they were already here.

  3. You sure did have a series of events to really make you miserable. Glad you could see your mom and get some work done. Too bad about the stressful appt for your boyfriend. I plant marigolds by my backdoor to keep the mosquitos away. It works a little, I guess. Good that you could figure out how they’re getting in.

    Have a good week, Lola!

    • I hadn’t heard of marigolds helping with that, good to know. We have two plants that smell like lemon that are supposed to help and we never find the mosquitos near them, but that still leaves a lot of house they can get. Not sure if the solution is helping as we’re still finding them so far.
