The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance toΒ share news. A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share what is coming up on your blog for the week ahead.
This week was okay I guess. I still didn’t got a whole lot of reading done, but at least it only took me 5 days to finish my current read, that’s an improvement from 8 days, right? I am already hebind on my Goodreads reading challenge and am considering whether to low my goal or just read a lot of short stories and novella’s soon.
And I made the descision yesterday to switch to self-hosting with both Lola’s Reviews and Lola’s Blog Tours. I am already reading things about switching and self-hosting and with every new thing I read I am feeling more and more confident that I can actually do this. So if any of you know a site or blog which posted some usefull information about self-hosting and making the switch to self-hosting, please drop the link in the comments. It will probably a few more weeks before I make the actualy switch, but at least the descision is made.

Sounds like you got some pretty good reads, I hope you enjoy all of them Lola! Congrats about the self-hosting, it is so rewarding and so much more control over your blog. As long as you have a great hosting provider, then you’ll be fine (I use Dreamhost and have heard great things about godaddy)
Jeann @ Happy Indulgence
At the moment I am thinking of using godaddy, as I heard some good things about it. I have a wordpress for dummies book, I probably will spend quite some time reading that in the next few weeks.
I am also thinking about things as which domain name to buy for Lola’s Reviews and which plugins to install. There is so much to think about! But I am also really excited about the switch!
I am switching soon also. Blogger is just to glitchy for me and I feel like I am missing out on so much. I heard great things about godaddy.
I know Nosegaze and Parajunkee have a lot of info in their blogs about switching. Even step by step instructions
http://www.nosegraze.com/moving-from-blogger-wordpress-walkthrough/
I can’t find the Parajunkee link but I know she has it or you can tweet her for the link.
Good luck on the move π

Because reading is better than real life
Thanks Michelle! I have the Parajunkee link about switching already (I have it bookmarked), she has some great information on her site about it. Thanks for the link to Nosegraze, I will definitely take a look at that page.
Actually I never had too many problems with blogger, but I still want to switch for the extra control and options. Also I am using wordpress.com for my Lola’s Blog Tours site and I really like wordpress. So now I am going to switch both sites to self-hosting :).
I checked out the Nosegraze link you posted here and it’s really helpfull, thanks a lot π
Congrats on your decision to switch to self-hosted site. That’s awesome. Good luck with all of that. I don’t have any sites to offer you, but Kimba did a post on the things you should research before moving I think.

Ah yes I remember Kimba posted about that when she made the switch, I’ll have to look up her post again. If I remember correctly she also mentioned some great plugins to install.
Nogiku Blog tour starts tomorrow! π And I self-host everything and have since 1998. But I was a web design professional before becoming an author. You can totally do this!
I am so excited for the Nogiku blog tour to start :).
Can I ask with hosting provider and FTP client you are using for your website? Did you design your own website?
I am only now learning more and more about html and self-hosting, blogger was an easy way to start with blogging, but I am ready for self-hosting now (I hope).
Kimba has a post about selfhosting and I would definitely check it out. I have been selfhosted since the beginning and love it. It is a lot better. Enjoy your week.
Jenea @ Books Live Forever’s Sunday Post
I think it’s easier of you self-host from the beginning, then you don’t have to worry about taking everything from your previous blog with you. And I really hope everything will be a lot better after the switch!
I’ll definitely will check out Kimba’s website again, I have one of her posts about it bookmarked already.
I use GoDaddy and have had no issues, they have treated me well when I call in. I totally recommend you get UBB for the review blog and I know her tweak me theme is super easy to use. Good luck my friend
Good to hear you never had issues with godaddy! I heard a lot of good things about the UBB as well and I plan on buying it when I have some money to spare. I’ll check out her tweak me theme as well.
For my Lola’s Blog Tours site I am letting a custom design made, but for Lola’s reviews it will be something simple probably.
I use godaddy and am doing self hosted WordPress. I love how nice their staff is and they are friendly. Also if you are doing self hosted WP, Get UBB from Ashley over at Nose Graze. Ashley and Rachel aka Parajunkee are also great resources if you are making the switch….they helped me tremendously.

Thanks Grace :). I think I’ll just go for godaddy, it really helps hearing from other bloggers that they never had any problems with it. A blogger who commented on this post dropped a link to a post on Nose Graze that I have been reading today and it’s been really helpfull! I also have a post from Parajunkee bookmarked as reference for when I am making the move. I keep hearing good things about UBB and how it saves time and effort when blogging, I definitely plan on buying it eventually.
It’s still really really *really* early in the year, so don’t rethink your GR Challenge goal just yet. Give it some time. When I feel like I’m getting too far behind I like to toss in a few shorts and it makes me feel better, as if I’m actually getting something accomplished. π Hang in there and good luck when you make the move. π
Yeah that’s true, I am just used to always reading more than my challenge and I have been reading so little these past few weeks. I am reading a really good book now and that means I make more time to read.
I think it is great that you read your current book faster than your last one! That is progress and you might get on a roll. π Reading some shorter books and some fun light reads might help! Good luck!
~Jess
It feels good to read a bit faster again. I plan on reading some short books soon, but I also have a few reviews books for blog tours I have to read.
