sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This week was quite stressful, but there is some good news as well. My boyfriend had a lot of job interviews and calls. Thanks to corona he can do all of those at home, which is handy, but it also made for a really busy week with him having so many interviews. He had a lot of first talks and waiting to hear back whether he goes to the next round or not. At the end of the week he finally got a call with a job offer. There are still a few things they need to agree on before it’s official, but if all goes well he has a new job now. Yay!

Besides that there were plenty of small things going wrong, most of those where only minor things, but it added to the already stressful week. And then my sites have been going down now and then, and I just don’t have the brain space or time to look into it. For now I am just hoping something about the previous update caused it and a future one fixes it, I’ve had that happen a few times in the past. It also hasn’t been the best reading week, more about that later, but luckily I had one amazing read.

Work wise it was a decent week. I sent out two media kits for tours starting next week and wrapped up the three tours that had ended last Sunday. I also got a good amount of assistant work hours in. There’s a fun set of social media posts I got to work on for one of my authors. I also wrote the draft for a future blog post for authors. It’s been kinda slow with no new tours getting booked, so hopefully that picks up again soon.

What did I read this week?

Broken Flyght audioThe GangsterMy Secrets to KeepWhat We May Be

I really enjoyed my re-read of Broken Flyght. I love this series and this book is still one of my favorites in the series. I enjoy seeing how she meets Jinzo and falls in love, the start of her relationship network and then the chase scene and the twist afterwards. The Gangster didn’t work for me at all. It had such a different vibe and feel than the first book. I went in with different expectations and was unable to enjoy this one. And then there were the creepy mechanical men and the way the love interest seemed less interesting in this book and I am still not sure how I finished this one. My Secrets to Keep was a fun contemporary romance about a princess who falls in love with a boy at a school for royalty and such. I liked these two together and it was a fun read. What We May Be was an interesting read and I enjoyed parts of it, but I didn’t care as much for the suspense and found the reason why Sean left the other two a bit unrealistic. I did really like the dynamic between the three characters and they way their romance only worked with all three of them.

My current reads
I am currently reading Counted Corpse, which I am really enjoying so far. This is such an awesome cozy mystery series. I was in the mood for a cozie and a book by an author I already knew and I know I made the right decision to pick this one up. I haven’t started a new Kobo book yet at the time I am writing this. And I haven’t started a new audio either, I am listening to a few podcasts for now as it’s been a while I did that. My favorite podcast has a bunch new episodes and I wanted to catch up on a few of those.

This week I blogged about:

Review: The Devil Went Down to Florida by Lidiya Foxglove
Review: The Warrior by Jordan Ford

  1. Sorry it was a stressful week but YAY for your boyfriends finding a job (fingers crossed)
I know how hard that is!

Glad your assistant work is going good,. If you need help with anything for that, let me know. I never heard back from that author so I am not sure if she still wanted the banners.

I hope this is a great week for you with awesome reading, Lola! Happy reading! xx

    • I am really happy he found a job, this really is a tough time to find a job.

I just emailed that author to ask whether she received your email, I’ll let you know if I hear back.

  2. Sometimes a bunch of little things stress me out more than if a big catastrophe happened. Yay for the unofficial job for your boyfriend and that you got some good work done on your business tasks.
Too bad you had some meh books this week, but glad that was balanced with some enjoyable ones, too.

    Have a great week, Lola!
