sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This week was okay. Unfortunately I am in a bit of a slump. This week was a bit of a struggle as I couldn’t find the right book to read or the right game to play. It’s tough when I can’t unwind in my free time. I just got annoyed at everything I do as it’s not right for my mood. I hope the slump is over soon, I think I might be slowly crawling out of it as I am enjoying my current read and found a game I enjoyed, so fingers crossed the slump is going away now.

Last weekend I got my first vaccine shot and I got minimal side effects. I had some pain and soreness in my upper arm and I felt a tad feverish the first night, but that was all. By now my boyfriend has also received his first vaccine shot. Netherlands is opening up and restrictions are disappearing everywhere. I got quite the shock when grocery shopping and hardly anyone was wearing a mask. I know a lot of people are vaccinated already, but still a lot aren’t and it seems too early to lower all the restriction.

It was a solid work week. I finished up my work for June for the authors I work for and made a start on this month’s work. I also had two tours I organize take place this week and I sent out the media kits for the tour that starts next week. I also made the time to write a new blog post for authors. I really enjoy writing them, although I am not sure how many authors are finding and reading them so far, but I hope once I have more of them published that will help.

What did I read this week?

A Glimmer of a ClueThe Queen's TriumphTrack the Sun<

I gave A Glimmer of a Clue a 3 star rating. I liked the fairy and fairy garden theme, but didn’t care for the mystery. Track the Sun also got a 3 star rating, I really liked the world building and mythology surrounding the magic, but didn’t care for the characters and the back and forth romance. Besides this I DNF’d two fiction books and a non-fiction one. The Queen’s Triumph was a great read and I really enjoyed the ending to this series.

This week I blogged about:

Review: Spell Tamer by Laura Greenwood
Review: Draw and Order by Cheryl Hollon

  1. Sorry you are in a slump, those are no fun. I have found a nice groove with gaming and seem to be obsessed with cozy games recently. It’s nice to unwind with a cozy game, especially when some days are super stressful.

I need to start writing some posts, I have so many ideas just can’t seem to find the time to sit and do it. πŸ™‚

Have a great week, Lola! Happy Reading! xx

    • I found a nice relaxing puzzle game that fit my mood and had some great reads this week, so I am doing better now. That’s good to hear you found a groove with some nice cozy games.

It really is hard to find time to sit down and write posts.

  2. I read a book which I didn’t really enjoy but it was for a blog tour and it took a whole week! It was short and normally I would finish a book that length in 1-2 days. UGH. Sometimes if I am not happy reading, I have to switch genres or read something upcoming I just really want to read. I am also concerned about how people are dropping restrictions as not everyone is vaccinated and those under 12 don’t have a vaccination available.

    • Sorry to hear you also read a book you didn’t really enjoy. It’s amazing how much slower you get through books when you’re not enjoying them. I often switch genres indeed when a slump happens and in this case I also went with books I really wanted to read which helped.

I think the cases here are already going up, not surprisingly. I am staying home as much as possible.

  3. Bummer about the slump. I’ve slowed down in my reading, but so far avoided a slump. Hope it moves on. Yay for wrapping up your June work and getting a start on July’s. Nice stack you got read this week and glad the last Queen’s Triumph turned out great. Glad your shot went well.

    Have a good week, Lola!

    • I am trying to take on less review copies, so I have more time to read what I want. I hope that helps. I think I made it through this slump at least.

  4. Being in a reading slump is no fun – and the annoying thing is that it often takes different strategies to get out of it, depending on what tipped you there in the first place! And I entirely agree with you regarding far too many folks discarding their masks and social distancing – our infection rates are climbing far too fast in the UK. Glad to hear you didn’t have a bad reaction to your first vaccination, Lola and I hope you have a better reading week:).

    • I tried multiple things before I got out of the slump, luckily this week was a solid reading week.

I think cases here are rising again as well as all the restrictions got discarded. I am still keeping my masks and distance.

  5. I hope you feel better and your slump ends soon. Finding a good book to read can make so much difference.
I got my vaccine and had no side effects at all which I was glad about. So many people aren’t wearing their masks here either.

    • Thanks! Luckily I found a way out of my slump and had several good books this week, it really makes a big difference.

I am glad to hear you had no side effects from your shot and sorry to hear hardly anyone is wearing their masks there either.

    • I agree it’s nicer when you can take the time for a book instead of reading for a deadline. I try and not accept as many review copies close together, but it’s tough sometimes.

    • It really was a tough week. Luckily this week was a lot better, I had some great ebooks and started First Flyght in audio πŸ™‚ .

    • That’s what I plan to do, keep masking up in most indoors settings or when close to people. I think our case numbers are rising again with the restrictions gone.

Luckily this week was a lot better reading and gaming wise, so I think my slump is gone now πŸ™‚
