sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This was another busy week, still a bit stressful with some of the things going on. I am still a bit tired and my sleep routine still isn’t as on track as I would like, but maybe next week. This week I mostly focused on finishing up the work for the author whom I’ll stop working for next year and I wanted to get most of the work that was left wrapped up this week. Which I got done, only a few minor things left where I am still waiting on feedback for and a few days of email checking for that account and that’s it.

A lot of this week was focusing on the upcoming holidays. I shipped the package for my mom and her husband and it miraculously arrived the next day, normally shipping takes awhile these days, so I was quite surprised and happy it arrived that quickly. The present I ordered for my sister and her boyfriend hasn’t shipped as far as I can tell and I am worried that might be late, but hopefully it will get shipped soon and maybe still arrive in time for Christmas. We also bought another present for my boyfriend’s mother and are now finished with the Christmas shopping. A package arrived from my sister with our Christmas present which is under the tree now.

We decided to stay home this year with Christmas, not visit anyone and stick with video chats instead due to the rising Corona numbers. We don’t want to risk getting sick or making one of our more vulnerable family members sick. It was a difficult decision, but I really don’t want to risk infecting someone or getting sick myself. It’s still difficult to deal with the disappointment of family members tough.

On the topic of corona we’re back in lockdown till mid January with additional rules to hopefully slow down the spread, guess we’ll see how that all goes with the holidays coming up. I have to say I am not too optimistic.

Besides that I got plenty of work done this week. Besides assistant work I also got some tour work done. I launched my christmas giveaway at Lola’s Blog Tours. I also did the usual tour work: replying to emails, checking sign ups and checking tour stops. I had 3 tours run and end this week that I worked on. And a new tour got booked as well, which is awesome.

Lola's Blog Tours Christmas Giveaway
I am running a Christmas giveaway over at Lola’s Blog Tours. I am giving away two books (winner’s choice up to $10) from the Bookdepository as well as two ebooks (winner’s choice up to $5) from Smashwords.

2020 Audiobook Challenge

I listened to 18 audiobooks this year! My goal was 15-20 so I fell nicely into the middle of that. I am glad with how many I could listen to this year, although I am not sure if I can replicate this next year.

2021 Audiobook Challenge

As I am not sure if I can replicate last year’s success, my listening has slowed down a bit to about one audiobook per month. I am setting next year’s goal to Stenographer (can listen while multitasking) 10-15.

What did I read this week?

Writing and Marketing SystemsMurder in the Wine CountryDeathmaker

Writing and Marketing Systems was a great non-fiction book, I enjoy the author’s writing style and how she explained how to set up your own writing and marketing systems. She had some great tips and advice in how to get insight into how much time things cost you and how much you can do in a day. Murder in the Wine Country was another solid cozy mystery, I enjoy this series and the characters all feel familiar by now and I enjoy spending time with them. Deathmaker was a good sequel following different characters with appearances from the first couple, it kept my attention while reading. I liked the characters, but didn’t fully feel the romance and would like to see more of the world building. I also wasn’t a fan of how the prisoner type plot line got used again in this book as I don’t really like those type of plot lines. I am curious to see where the series goes next.

This week I blogged about:

Review: A Roost and Arrest by Hillary Avis
Review: Hunter of Demons by Jordan L. Hawk

Your Author Business PlanStructophisPrime Time CrimeMystic Pieces

Mystic Pieces I got for review from the author through Booksprout, I’ve been looking forward to this one since I first heard about it and was excited to find the author was offering review copies. Your Author Business Plan is Joanna Penn’s newest release, I have enjoyed her books so far and decided to pick it up when she sent out a discount code to her newsletter. Structophis sounds like the unique and fun type story I would enjoy, so I couldn’t resist buying it. And the Prime Time Crime box set was discounted to 99 cents and I liked the sound of this cozy mystery series with an older protagonist.

How was your week?

  1. I am also going to try to wrap up the year. I will have the rest of your images probably next week (or at least some of them) Last week and this week just got more crazy than I thought. We are also staying home, however, my mom and sister are coming over but we are skipping it with the rest of the family.

The schools are closed in my town but they haven’t locked down anything yet. I have a feeling in January it will happen, whatever keeps people safe and the numbers down, I am fine with.

I hope you have a wonderful week, Lola! Merry Christmas! oxox

    • I look forward to seeing how the other images turn out :). Thanks so much for all of your design work!

That’s nice you get to see your mom and sister at least on Christmas. Happy holidays!

Same here, I am glad we’re in another lock down as it might help keep the numbers down.

    • I am sorry to hear your library stopped their curbside pickup :(. It makes sense, but still sad. That’s strange casinos are still open.

  2. Yes, I’m definitely not to optimistic about these COVID numbers. And it’s still so busy outside despite the lockdown. I don’t get it.
I’m glad you got some work done. And Christmas will definitely be different for a lot of people. I hope you’ll still have a great time.
Have a great week and Merry Christmas.

  3. Too bad about the sleep trouble still, but I’ll hope that it is better over the next few days. Neat that you are getting your author’s work done and your Christmas tasks out of the way. We wanted to go visit my husband’s sister, but are choosing to stay home and maybe visit with family next year. Glad you did so well on your audio challenge and hopefully you’ll do great for your new goal in 2021. Mystic Pieces does sound good.

Have a great Christmas week, Lola!

    • I hope once things calm down a bit I can sleep better. I got some work related things wrapped up and try to get a bit more free time in this week.

That’s too bad you won’t be able to visit family now, but it sounds like the safest option definitely. Hopefully next year you can visit again.

I am glad with how well i did with the audio challenge. I just started Mystic Pieces 🙂

  4. I think you will be surprised on your listening. As soon as I started listening to audiobooks, it kept steadily increasing. Now I listen to as many audiobooks as I read other books, and I still read the other books! So it has doubled my reading. You just have to get used to listen while cooking, shopping, doing laundry, etc. I’m so glad to hear you will have a nice safe Christmas at home. I wish you peace, joy and some time to relax.

    • I also listen to podcast and I feel like I discovered most of the times I like to listen to for now as well as not having as easy access to audiobooks as when I started listening. So I think 12 is a doable goal for me for now, maybe in future years it will increase again.

Happy holidays to you as well!

  5. I’m glad your package for your mom arrived. Everything is so up in the air this year, it’s nice when something goes right. 🙂

We kinda did the same thing w/ Christmas, our big family party is canceled and we’re all staying home. Going to do a Zoom chat on Christmas Day so everyone can see each other. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas Lola!

    • Exactly it’s nice when something does go right, I could hardly believe it had arrived so fast.

Sorry to hear your big family party is cancelled, it’s good you’re all staying safe. Hopefully the zoom will go well and next year will be different again.

    • Yeah I couldn’t believe it arrived so fast. I just received something I ordered from another country more than two months ago. And most orders inside of the country also take days at least.

    • I agree it’s the best for everyone, but it can be tough especially when family members had hoped for visits. I hope it will be only 1 year. It’s nice to have all the preparations done.

  6. Look how many blog tours you have going! That’s great! I’m glad to hear you’ll be staying home and safe for the holidays. It’s disappointing for everyone to miss family. I totally get that. We’ll be missing our family as well (though not missing the driving). I’ll be doing my wrap up posts this coming week! Looking forward to it!

    • Thanks! I am so happy to have so many tours going on. I love doing more tour work :).

I am glad we decided to stay home, but it was a difficult decision.

I look forward to your wrap up posts!
