sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This week was a lot better than the previous one, but also was a bit of the aftermath of everything going on, so it still didn’t feel as relaxing as I had hoped. Thanks everyone again for your kind and helpful comments on my last Sunday Post it really helps.

On Monday I decided to would fix the email invoice problem and actually managed to do so, once I got into contact with another employee it all got resolved easily. Which leads me to believe the first person I had contact with didn’t know all the ins and outs enough to help me. That was a weight of my shoulders to have that resolved and have the stress away. After such a stressful event I always feel a bit drained so that stuck with me for a bit.

I’ve also have been some troubles getting my sleep routine back on track, so it’s been all over the place this week. Some days I seemed to need way more sleep and sleep in a lot, but then that put me behind a bit for the day, so then I am scrambling to get everything done and have difficulties getting to sleep on time. I hope next week goes smoother in that regard.

As for the humidity issues in our house, we settled into a new routine where we air out the house for about half an hour in the morning after we just woke up and the central heating isn’t on yet, then put on the heating for the rest of the day. It seems to work well and the humidity has gotten less. It’s still quite humid outside, so we probably need to continue this for a while longer.

On the reading font I decided to just focus on what I want to read this month, no focus on review copies, but if that’s what I am in the mood for I would read them. I started the month with a great re-read and now picked up a cozy mystery I got from Netgalley earlier this year, I hadn’t gotten around to reading it back then and I am glad I picked it up now. I also started playing a new game, it’s a bit like Pokémon with how you capture monsters and battle other tamers. It’s so much fun and a bit nostalgic and fresh at the same time as I played so much Pokémon as a kid.

I am so trying to get the Christmas presents for my mom and sister all bought and shipped to them. I am almost done with that and hope to finish that next week. I had a video chat with my mom this week to check in as we hadn’t spoken each other for a while and decided to do video chat with Christmas as well as corona cases are still high here.

And besides that I’ve been busy with work still this week, which is great! I’ve done a good amount of assistant work hours and worked on a new task that came in. I put two new tours live, one blog tour and a bookstagram blitz. And got in some new tour requests as well. I am so happy with how business is doing and really hope it keeps up!

2021 Challenges

And two of the 2021 challenges I want to join were live, so I want to announce I am joining these again next year.

Coyer 2021
I am joining Coyer 2021. I look forward to the new coyer and it sounds like the organizers have some fun plans for 2021!

2021 new release challenge
And I also joining the 2021 new release challenge. I always read a bunch of new releases. I am hoping to focus more on re-reading and reading books I bought, so I am setting my goal a bit lower: 31-60 books per year – New Release Pro

What did I read this week?

Chaos in Kadoma WardSummoner of Storms

I finished two great reads this week. I thoroughly enjoyed my re-read of Chaos in Kadoma Ward, which is my favorite book in the series so far. And I hope to get to book 3 soon, so I am all caught up again with the story before book 4 releases somewhere next year. Summoner of Storms was the last book in the first SPECTR series and I enjoyed how it wrapped up this part of the story, there were some great reveals and developments plot and romance wise. It formed a satisfying conclusion to this part of the story and I look forward to starting the next series soon.

This week I blogged about:

Review: Sympathy for the Demons by Lidiya Foxglove
Lola’s Kitchen: Vegetarian Wellington Recipe

The Beautiful Things ShoppeDialogue

I got The Beautiful Things Shoppe for review through Netgalley. I enjoyed book 1 and look forward to this one. Dialogue I bought as it sounded like a good read and I was looking for a new non-fiction book.

How are you doing with your Christmas shopping?

  1. I have the same problem in my bathroom, I leave a window open but the steam from the shower just keeps creating mold on the walls and have rusted my drop ceiling. It’s super frustrating.

Sadly my sleep schedule has been so off, I either sleep too much or not enough and there is no in between. Regardless I seem to be forever tired lol

Glad you are joining COYER again! This year is going to be so crazy but fun! I can’t wait.

Have a great week, Lola! Happy Reading!

    • Humidity is so hard to deal with, I’ve been battling mold in our bathroom for a while now too.

That’s sounds frustrating with your sleep schedule being off and being tired constantly because you sleep too much or too little :(. I hope your sleep schedule improves soon!

I am looking forward to next year’s coyer!

  2. My family doesn’t exchange gifts much anymore so I don’t have to buy anything. 🙂 Hope this week keeps getting better for you. . I just started a new book blog so I am just getting started again. I had a book blog before for many years. If you are interested I have a post on my blog. I hope you have a great week reading!

    • That sounds nice. I actually would be happy to do less of the gift exchanging, but that’s hard to do when everyone else does it. Good luck with your new book blog!

  3. It sounds like an amazing week with problems solved, and good work. I have done software support and I just know when I’m talking to someone who is clueless. So I hang up and call back for someone else. I always “schedule” December to read what I want, so that’s a great plan. I look forward to seeing you at COYER.

    • I am happy to get some of the problems solved and a lot of work done. Good idea to just hand up and call back for someone else. My trouble was that I was emailing and I kept getting to same support person, next time I know to call earlier and make sure I speak to someone else.

I think I might do this going forward to schedule one month to read what I want, it’s been great so far!

  4. Glad the humidity problem is better. That can be a tough thing. Especially airing out your home- cold air is no fun!

The Pokemon- type game sounds fun too.

Hope your week ahead is a good one Lola!

    • It sure is tough to deal with, but our current solution seems to be helping even tough airing out our house with cold air isn’t fun.

I am really enjoyed the Pokemon-type game so far 🙂

  5. You sound so much more up-beat and I’m glad you figured out your invoice with the new worker and how to deal with the humidity. Great that you were able to vid-chat with your mom and get your Christmas presents going. Hopefully your sleep will be back on track.
Yes, those both look like good books and cheering you on with your new reading challenges for 2021. I’m doing COYER with you.

    Have a good week, Lola!

    • Having the invoice thing resolved and the humidity thing going better really made a difference for my mood :).

That’s great to hear you’re doing COYER as well next year.

    • That sounds like a good way to handle it. Usually I am quite good with not accepting too many review copies, but I usually still read a decent amount of review copies so it’s nice to take a break from that.

    • I usually don’t struggle with sleep and have a very consistent schedule, which works for me, having my sleep schedule not work well is very frustrating :(. I hope your new sleep solution keeps working out! I hope this solution for the humidity works long term, so far so good.

    • I asked the first person if I could get into contact with someone else, but only after a few phone calls I managed to get it resolved. Good to know this is a common thing when it comes to customer service, I’ll definitely keep that in mind for the future.
