sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This was a pretty decent week. I got plenty of work done this week and was kept busy with both tour work and assistant work. We took a walk in a nearby park with my boyfriend’s parents for a visit as that’s safer than inside a house. We all wore our masks too. It was a bit chilly, but besides that a nice day. And it was a nice way to catch up and have a relatively safe visit this way. I video chatted with my mom later in the week, which has been a nice way to keep in touch.

My back is doing better mostly, but there are still a few movements that I can’t do yet. I hope it continues to improve.

I’ve been busy with tour work for Lola’s Blog Tours this week, which makes me happy. I put two new sign-up posts live this week, one for a urban fantasy book with demons review opportunity and one for a blog tour for a ghost fiction series. I’ve got plenty of tours and review opportunities open at the moment. I also got some hours of assistant work done.

I tried my new ergonomic vertical mouse this week and I love it! I thought it would take some time to get used to it and that it would difficult to switch, but it wasn’t. I got used to it within an hour or so, after switching some settings for mouse speed and such so that it felt better. It’s much easier on my arm and wrist and it’s so comfortable and more intuitive than a normal mouse for me. I wish I had known before how awesome this would work as I would’ve switched much earlier. I can definitely recommend it. It’s also a very nice texture. It’s soft, but too smooth, so my hand doesn’t glides off. I am so glad I decided to give this a try. Although I did bump into once or twice this week as I am still getting used to the fact that this mouse is higher than my previous one.

We’ve been making progress updating my computer’s drivers, so far the problem hasn’t been resolved yet, but there are still quite a few to go. We try to space them apart so we can detect any additional problems or when something works. I also keep track of most things as well in case something goes wrong.

Unrelated to my computer issues, I also ran into a software problem recently where the program stops working every time it updates and then I have to reinstall it, so that works, but it’s a bit of a pain to have to reinstall it every time after an update. I haven’t found out yet what causes it. so for now I just reinstall it every time it decides to update.

What did I read this week?

The Amethyst Panda

I also finished the non-fiction book Killer Subject Lines which was a great read about newsletter subject lines. It was short, but filled with information. The Amethyst Panda was an awesome sequel! I really liked this one, seeing how the story continued and how Sam deals with everything, there are plenty of epic monster battles as well. I am almost done with some of my current reads, so I hope to finish those soon.

This week I blogged about:

Review: Gatebreaker by Michelle Wilson
Review: The Amethyst Panda by Kay MacLeod
Review: Lending a Paw by Laurie Cass

I had quite the book haul this week. Delivering Evil for Experts, The KC Warlock Weekly and Learned Behaviors I got for review. Then I bought two new releases, Songs of Blood and A Stitch in Time. I couldn’t resists that non-fiction book Creating Character ARCs. And then later in the week I spotted a sale for both Boyfriend Material and Songflight, which both were on my wishlist, so i grabbed those too.

How are you staying in contact with family and friends in these times?

  1. I’m glad your back is doing better, Lola. Are you doing exercises to strengthen everything? I keep having to do that for my own back pains, but nowadays, I sometimes forget because my back hardly ever hurts anymore.
Also really good news that you have enough work these days! That’s definitely important.
Have a wonderful week ahead, stay safe and healthy 🙂

    • Yes I looked up some exercises for my back that I am doing a few times per day and that helps a lot with loosening it up and keeping it mostly pain free. It is hard to remember to do them on the days where my back hardly hurts, but I try to keep it up even now when it’s doing better.

I am really happy with the few good work weeks I had and I hope it keeps up.

  2. Oh yes – do keep up with the back exercises, as they make all the difference:)). And I’m also really delighted that you have got on so well with your egonomic mouse – I absolutely love mine and it’s made such a difference. I hope the coming week is another busy one and that your back continues to recover, Lola:))

    • I plan to keep up with the back exercises as they really seem to help. I am so glad I finally bought an ergonomic mouse, I couldn’t have imagined how nice it is, but now that I tried one I don’t want to go back to a normal mouse again.

  3. Glad your back is feeling better.
I want to upgrade my sons computer but I think I might take it someplace since I really have no patience for if things go wrong.
I have never heard of that type of mouse but it looks interesting. i need a mouse that scrolls up and down and left and right and a lot of PC mice don’t come like that. So I am stuck with my apple mouse. Which at the moment isn’t working that great and it’s expensive to get another right now.

So Glad you are getting busy!

Have a great week, Lola! Happy Reading!

    • It’s really a pain when things go wrong computer wise. I just hope this issue will be fixed soon.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a mouse that scrolls up and down as well as left and right. Must be difficult to find one of those.

  4. Looks like the mouse is going to work out well and that is great that you got to visit with your boyfriend’s folks and your mom. I’ve been exchanging calls with my folks and brother, but get to see my husband’s family in person, periodically.
Hope your back continues to do well with your exercises and you eventually get the drives figured out. Yeah for more work.
Looks like a fun haul. I got a few sales books this last week, too.

    Have a good week, Lola!

My back is improving each day, I’ll keep up with the exercises for now. I hope the drivers will fix the computer issue.

It’s nice when you can grab some good sales 🙂

    • It was a nice haul this week :). I am so happy the new mouse works so well. I am hoping one of the driver updates will resolve it, we’re pretty sure that’s the problem.

  5. Glad you had a good week, and were able to see some people. This pandemic sure makes things hard, doesn’t it? And sorry to hear you’re still having computer problems. Ugh those are such a pain.

Hope you have a fantastic week ahead! Be well and take care.

  6. I’m so glad the mouse is working out for you! I hope that it also helps out with shoulder pain, too. I also did a distanced visit this past week with my cousin. It’s nice to be outside and talking to someone other than my immediate family. I stay in touch with my parents and other family members via zoom. It’s really helped to keep my spirits up!
