sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This was a pretty decent week, but also a bit tiring somehow. Where last week was very warm, this week has been rainy and windy, it sure is a weird contrast with last week.

I am getting used to my new Kobo ereader and am loving it. The cover I ordered for it arrived this week, but I ended up buying another one as the first one didn’t fit what I wanted. The new one is great and I am happy to have a good cover for it now.

I got a lot of work done this week. I helped an author with her website, which was fun and in only a few hours I managed to get most of the content added to her website and have it fully functioning and helped her sort some things out. I also put two new review opportunities live on my Lola’s Blog Tours site, please check them out if you like. And I worked on scheduling some social media posts as well. I wrapped up my June assistant work and made a start on this month’s work.

My right arm has been hurting a bit this week and I think it’s due to frequent computer use. I am trying to stretch it more, massage it and take some small breaks and hopefully that helps before it gets worse.

Some good news. I won two giveaways this week, it seems this was a lucky week for me. I won an ebook copy of a MM contemporary Romances book as well as an audiobook by another author! I was so excited to win these!

Last weekend I tried a new recipe for vegan cinnamon buns. I am not vegan, but I like to try vegan recipes so far sometimes and I hadn’t done a lot of vegan baking yet. I recently spotted some vegan butter in our grocery store and this was a great recipe to try it with. These cinnamon buns turned out so good, they tasted delicious and as they didn’t stay long well I froze some and then took them out later in the week. Picture below.

June Reading Stats

I had a good reading month and read 15 books. One audiobook and 14 ebooks. Again a wide variety of genre, I read books in the following genres: non-fiction, contemporary romance, cozy mystery, paranormal cozy mystery, Gamelit, High fantasy, Science Fiction and paranormal romance. I read 8 review books this month, 6 bought books and 1 free book. I read 3 books with an MM romance, 3 books with no romance, 1 book with a reverse harem romance and 8 MF romances.

My favorite read of the month was Vangie Vale and the Murdered Macaron by R.L. Syme, which got a rare 5 star rating from me, I loved this cozie mystery book and hope I can continue the series soon.

What did I read this week?

Chili Cauldron CurseMy Future HusbandTaking the Short TackTime of my Life

Chili Cauldron Curse was a fun prequel novella that introduced the characters and set the stage for book 1. It was a bit short, but I like the glimpse we got so far. The mystery did feel a bit to the point and wasn’t as engaging. I am looking forward to book 1. My Future Husband was a sweet contemporary romance book where the nice guy gets the girl. I really liked the male main character of this one, he was funny and sweet, but it took me longer to warm up to the female main character. Taking the Short Tack was a great read focusing on short fiction and the different ways to utilize it. I paused Fateseal the audiobook I was listening to as I couldn’t stand the annoying back and forth between the two main characters. And instead listened and finished Time of my Life this week, which was a great contemporary romance read set aboard a cruise ship and featuring pole dancing, both were interesting to read about.

This week I blogged about:

  1. Glad the new Kobo is working out and you found the cover you wanted. Way to go getting caught up on your work and launching the website.
You had a nice spread of books finished last month. I need to work on reading more of a variety like that.
What a lovely book haul and yay for two wins!
Your vegan cinnamon rolls look yummy!

    Have a great week, Lola!

    • It took a bit of research to find the right cover, but I am really happy with the one I have now.

I am always surprised with how much of a variety I end up with at the end of the month as I don’t really pay attention to that during the month, I just read what i feel like or what’s next on my review list.

  2. Cinnamon buns! I love those. It’s been so long since I had one. I hope your arm feels better. I have carpal tunnel, so too much computer time makes my arms ache and my fingers go numb. Taking breaks usually helps. Congrats on reading 15 books. Have a great week!

    • The cinnamon buns were awesome. I am sorry to hear you have carpal tunnel. I think I overuse a certain muscle and it needed a break as my arm is doing a lot better now.

  3. Ooh those cinnamon buns look yummy! I’m glad the vegan recipe turned out well. And sorry it’s been kind of rainy this week. I’ve had a lot of rain too – and it’s supposed to be really hot this week, which means there are always chances of summer storms.

    • Thanks! I was happy with the wins :). And the cinnamon rolls were so good, I really like them, but usually don’t make them because I don’t have the patience for al the rising, luckily these didn’t have to rise. The new Kobo is great!

    • The cinnamon rolls were really good and I am so happy with this vegan recipe as they didn’t have to rise. I don’t have the patience for that, so this was awesome. I am so happy with my new ereader.
