sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
Itโ€™s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

Another busy week. Not much to tell. The weather has been warm this week, a bit too warm for my taste. I’ve been working on future tours, assistant work and current tours. Two new review opportunities and a cover reveal sign-up post went live this week. I had three tours run and a cover reveal this week. And I sent out a bunch of media kits for the 5 or so tours starting next week.

On Wednesday we visited my sister and went out for dinner with her and her boyfriend. We ate at a pizzeria and had a lot of fun chatting about their last vacation, books, games and other topics. The pizza’s were delicious and the dessert was really good too. I ate a vegetarian calzone pizza and as dessert a lemon filled with lemon ice cream.

Last weekend we watched the Maze Runner movie. I hadn’t read the book, as I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy it, but I thought the movie was well done. It was pretty action packed, although it did annoy me how at the start no one would answer Thomas’s questions. But the pace was well done and if you’re looking for an action packed dystopia movie it’s worth a watch in my opinion.

I am doing my best to get out of my weird reading mood. I started two reading two books by two of my favorite authors this week Missing by Kelley Armstrong and Keeping Kyler by Siobhan Davis. So far it has improved my reading mood a bit already as both are good books. Next up on my ipad is Witch Summer by HY Hanna. Followed by Arise by Emma L Adams and Paper Cranes by Jordan Ford, which are all 3 books I really want to read.

I am keeping my blog schedule a bit light for now as else I can’t keep up with the comments and I don’t read as much. I am skipping the My To Be Read list meme next month as I need some space to get through the review copies I have and any time left will be spent on whatever I feel like reading then. I hope to join again in July.

Picture of the Week

Sorry no picture this week ๐Ÿ™

What did I read this week?

CrazyPlanet Neverland

I finished two books this week, which was pretty good. Both were 3 stars, but on the high end of the rating as I enjoyed both of them. Crazy was a lot of fun to read and I am looking forward to read more by the author. Planet Neverland was a great Peter Pan retelling, I had some trouble getting int he story at first as the characters annoyed me, but that improved as I continued and there was some nice character development and depth later on.

What did I cook for dinner this week?

This week I blogged about:

Review: Love, Lies and Hocus Pocus: Legends by Lydia Sherrer
Review: Planet Neverland by JM Page and Juno Wells

What to expect next week on the blog:

– Review: Keeping Kyler by Siobhan Davis
– Review: Bearly departed by Meg Macy

  1. Good luck getting through your review copies ๐Ÿ™‚ I hope you manage to find some balance with blogging/reading, I know how difficult that can be sometimes.

Crazy sounds like a bit of fun, I might need to add that one to my list which can always do with more light reads!

    • I am mostly working on my recently acquired review copies this year, it’s going pretty well. And yes finding the balance can be difficult sometimes.

I would definitely recommend Crazy if you’re looking for a light and fun read.

  2. It drove me nuts in the Maze Runner book when nobody would answer his questions! I mean, does it take more than a few minutes to fill in the new arrivals?!! Hot weather and reading slumps do seem to go together don’t they! Ugh. It feels a bit cooler here today thankfully-hope it stays that way! Have a great week!

    • Yes exactly! I made no sense at all, why couldn’t they just explain everything to the new arrivals when they’ve been through that so often already. It felt like it was there just to keep the readers/ viewers in the dark a bit longer.

I hope it cools down a bit here soon. It’s way too warm now.

  3. I’ve never watched the Maze Runner, or read the books. But now I’m curious and think I will check out the movie. Hopefully it will be on Netflix.
I find cutting out memes from time to time, helps me catch up with reading, and prepping blogging posts. And then other times, I love doing them, catching up with old blogs, and finding new ones.

    • If you’re looking for a fast paced movie with a lot of action I would definitely recommend it. I thought it was a good one. I never really was interested in the book or movie, but I am glad I gave it a try.

I enjoy participating in memes, but with the the weird reading mood I am in, I think it’s better to create a bit of space in my reading schedule by skipping this meme. I do feel bad about it as I don’t think I missed a month so far, but I think it’s for the best.

  4. I’ve been curious about The Maze Runner. I will get to that one someday. Good on the steady work and yay, for a pizza night with your sister.

Glad you’re reading books that you are enjoying and hopefully that will keep up for you. Hopefully you’ll get through more of your review books like you want. Oh yum, I see you’ve got a good haul this week of three favorite series and on sale, too. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Have a good week, Lola!

    • I might pick up the book one day as well, but for now I am okay with having seen the movie.

I think reading what I want and some review copies at the same if possible works out for me and cures me of this weird reading mood. It already got a bit better this week.

It was a good haul with all next books in series that I am following :).

  5. You and me have been very busy this year. In some ways that is a good thing ๐Ÿ™‚ I hope you can break your weird reading mood. I haven’t had time to read and when I think I will I end of having to do something. I am really hoping the summer will help me get a lot of books read, even COYER.

Pizza is my favorite good! you need to come to NJ to have some amazing pizza, you will never find pizza like we have her in NJ. ๐Ÿ™‚ Only reason I don’t want to move, lol

Have a great week, Lola! Happy Reading! ox

    • Yes it seems be both are having a busy year. But it’s definitely a good thing in many ways. I haven’t had as much time to read lately either and I just can’t seem to fully shake this weird reading mood.

I really like pizza and would like to try your NJ pizza once :). Although I would have to overcome my fear of planes first.

  6. I’m not surprised that you are easing up on the blogging and reading for a while – work looks crazily busy. However, that must be a good thing, I hope. However, not when you are working in very hot temperatures. We actually got a day in the 80s this week which I LOVED, however it didn’t last, sadly. Have a great week Lola. My Sunday Post –

    • Work is crazily busy, but it’s definitely a good thing. Although working in very hot temperatures it not really ideal, but I’ll have it warm no matter what I am doing, so I guess it doesn’t really matter too much.

    • It is definitely a good sign, I am so happy to have my company doing well :).

We’re currently watching the second Maze runner movie and it’s not as good as the first one. It takes a very different direction.

  7. Eve Langlais has some great books. Her style is always a bit lighter and a good pick after you finished a heavy book, you know!
I read the first Maze Runner book, but never continued with the series. It was a good book, but apparently didn’t hold my attention enough!
Samantha recently posted…Sunday Post: Schools (almost) Out!My Profile

    • I really like her lighter style. I have a few of her other books already that I got for free at some point and I hope to read more of them soon. Her style fit my reading mood well.

I did enjoy the movie, but also wouldn’t have been in a hurry to continue the series. we’re currently watching the next movie and so far it’s not as good as the first one.

  8. Glad you had a good time with your sister, and the food sounds yummy ๐Ÿ™‚ I enjoyed the Maze Runner books, but I haven’t seen the movies. I’ve heard they’re pretty true to the books in a lot of ways. Glad you liked it!

We really need to figure out how to get out of these reading slump things!
Kristen @ Metaphors and Moonlight recently posted…The Weekly Update: 5/28/17My Profile

    • I normally read the books first before I watch the movie, but it was kinda nice to watch the movie without any prior knowledge of the story.

This week was a bit better, but I am still not fully out of this reading slump thing.

  9. I love pizza and could eat it all the time lol. Glad you had a good week. I liked the Maze Runner movie (I haven’t read the books either) and the second movie wasn’t too bad either- looking forward to the wrap up movie. I liked the casting.

Glad Planet Neverland was pretty good!

    • I couldn’t eat it all the time, but I do really like pizza and the restaurant we went to was really good.

Fun to hear you also watched the Maze runner movies without having read the books first. We’re currently watching movie 2, it’s not too bad indeed, but not as good as the first movie.

    • I think I finally got out of my weird reading mood this week :). I hope you’ll enjoy Crazy when you get around to reading it. I thought it was a fun one and I like her writing style, so I’ll have to make sure to read more of her books.

  10. I’m ready for super warm Weather! It’s still cold and rainy here and it’s almost June FIVE tours next week! That’s exciting! Glad to hear you had a good time with your sister. I usually go with vegetarian pizzas too ๐Ÿ™‚ I liked the Maze very much too. I hope Armstrong helps you with your reading!

    • The super warm weather can go away again for me. It’s way too warm. I prefer spring or autumn. I actually had 7 tours running at the same time this week. I had a pretty good reading week this week, doing some mood reading really helped.

    • It is a good busy :). And I am glad business has been going well this year. Not much breathing room this week, but maybe in a week or two, lol.
