sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

Ugh what was wrong with this week? I started Monday with a major headache and promptly went back to bed after eating my breakfast and slept for another hour or so. It stayed the whole day and it wasn’t as productive a day as I would’ve liked. That seemed to set the feel for the rets of the week, it seemed like there were lots of little things that needed to be done this week and it felt like a busy week, but not as productive or efficient as I like. It just didn’t feel like a good week.

There is a new cover reveal and blog tour open for sign-up over at Lola’s Blog Tours, so that’s good news. I also did some work on a few open tours, sent out a media kit and a buy link for another tour. So on Lola’s Blog Tours things went well.

Thursday we went to the city center to bring back our new vacuum cleaner as it seemed broken, it made this high pitched sound that drove me crazy even with headphones on. Even my boyfriend got annoyed by the high pitch. So we brought it back to the shop and looked in other shops to decide which vaccuum cleaner to buy and later ordered that one online. The new vaccum cleaner arrived yesterday and my boyfriend tried it out and compared to out old vaccum cleaner and the new one we brought back this one is very quiet. I hate vacuum cleaner as my ears can’t stand the nise and I often have to put headphones on when my boyfriend vacuum cleans. So I can’t explain how blissfull it is to have a vacuum cleaner that doesn’t make that much noise. Oh and it’s red, it looks fancy.

Then friday evening I went to the vet with Snickers to get her lump checked out. It was indeed a tumor and she’ll have her surgery tomorrow. The vet said Snickers still looked like a healty rat and he had no worries about doing surgery on her. So while I know things will go right probably, but it’s still worries me every time they have to go for surgery.
We gave our rats some extra yummies this weekend to prepare for the hard week ahead when Snicker has to be seperate from Smarties when she recovers. They got some boiled egg this weekend and nut paste. I also bought an advocado for them, but it isn’t ripe yet, so they will get that later this week.

Oh and after seeing Michelle her app review last week of Dumb Ways to Die I decided to install the game on my ipad last sunday and now I am addicted, it’s a fun game with mini games and everything goes faster and fasterer and everytime it’s game over I try again to beat my highscore and you can unlock the characters to stand on the train station which is the main menu.

And sign-ups for Coyer has started! I love the Coyer Reading challenge and am really excited for this one. This will be my third time participating in Coyer! I already made my sign-up post and it will be posted later this month. The summer editions are always very lose and you can read everything and there is a great facebook group and fun twitter parties, If you want to read more about this challenge stop by one of the sign-up posts.

mini blogahead
I didn’t do as well as I hoped. I started with 36 scheduled posts and anded at 34 scheduled posts on 14 May. I had aimed for 40, but I had even less time to blog than I expected. I wrote 7 posts last week and only 2 this week.

Post I’ve written this week:
– Sunday Post #126 – May 17
– Lola’s Kitchen: Banana Crumble Muffins Recipe – August 7
– Review: These Broken Stars by Meagan Spooner and Amie Kaufman – May 30

What did I cook for dinner this week?

  • Sunday: dinner at my boyfriend’s parents pizza and spanish tortilla
  • Monday: Leftover pizza
  • Tuesday: Risottto with egg, onion and red bell pepper
  • Wednesday: Leftover Risottto with egg, onion and red bell pepper
  • Extra: Banana Crumble Muffins
  • Thursday: Peanut Pasta
  • Friday: Leftover Peanut Pasta
  • Saturday: Korma
  • Extra: Brownies

Random Picture(s) of the Week

Snicker and Smarties with their nut paste
Snickers and Smarties eating nut paste. I made nut paste for through the Korma, so I kept a bit aside for the rats as they really like nut paste. It’s basically nuts with water blended with a hand blender and it forms a sort of thick nutty paste.

Plant
One of the four plant pots with plants we got from my boyfriend’s parents. No clue what these are, some sort of spices I think?

Pudding
A vanilla pudding with choco sauce. Our supermarkt had discounts on puddings this week, so I brought this one for my boyfriend and a lemon pie pudding for myself, which didn’t look as fancy, so I didn’t take a picture.

This week I blogged about:

The sport she loves is out of reach. The boy she loves has someone else.

What now?

She expected to start Harkness College as a varsity ice hockey player. But a serious accident means that Corey Callahan will start school in a wheelchair instead.

Across the hall, in the other handicapped-accessible dorm room, lives the too-delicious-to-be real Adam Hartley, another would-be hockey star with his leg broken in two places. He’s way out of Corey’s league.

Also, he’s taken.

Nevertheless, an unlikely alliance blooms between Corey and Hartley in the “gimp ghetto” of McHerrin Hall. Over tequila, perilously balanced dining hall trays, and video games, the two cope with disappointments that nobody else understands.

They’re just friends, of course, until one night when things fall apart. Or fall together. All Corey knows is that she’s falling. Hard.

But will Hartley set aside his trophy girl to love someone as broken as Corey? If he won’t, she will need to find the courage to make a life for herself at Harkness — one which does not revolve around the sport she can no longer play, or the brown-eyed boy who’s afraid to love her back.

The Goat's TaleTales of the Zodiac – The Goat’s Tale (Tales of the Zodiac #1)
by P.J. Hetherhouse

Format: e-book

You can find Tales of the Zodiac – The Goat’s Tale on Goodreads

Blurb:
It is the distant future. Time has seen humanity rise and fall many times, seemingly
unable to learn from the mistakes of the past. Now, on the brink of another decline, twelve people step forward to change the course of destiny. Each of them has a tale
to tell…

The tales of the zodiac is a series inspired by Celtic mythology, Arthurian legend and, most importantly, astrology. Living in a time when Mother Nature has resumed control, the human race has regressed back to its feudal past. It is here, in two civilisations gripped by political intrigue and religious fanaticism, that the tales take place. We begin with Capricorn – The Goat’s Tale.

A boy of sixteen, Gruff is old beyond his years. He is a dour, dogged, determined
character driven by competitiveness and his rigid moral code. Unsurprisingly,
this attitude wins him more enemies than friends and, eventually, earns him the most powerful enemy of all – the king.

This royal enmity sets him on a quest that will change his life forever. With nothing but sheer belligerence, and the help of three fierce companions (including Cancer and Scorpio), he defies the king and ultimately achieves an unthinkable victory. Above all things, The Goat’s Tale is a tribute to the indomitable soul of the Capricorn.

  1. Sorry that you had the headache to started the week off and get you out of rhythm. At least you got a few things done.

Oh yes! I hate our loud vacuum cleaner, but I’ve had it for a while so now I’m determined to use it until it dies b/c I feel bad buying a new one when this one still works. I put my earbuds in too and that helps.

Looks like you got a few books to keep you busy. I grabbed The Year We Fell down too. Hope you do well for the new COYER challenge. Looks like you did pretty good at Blog Ahead even if you didn’t make your personal goal.

    • It was a bad start of the week with that headache. And indeed loud vaccum cleaners are the worst, our old vacuum cleaner made a lot of noise as well, but we didn’t want to buy a new one until it died. It was getting really bad and we had to tape it together, so now it was finally time for a new one. I am happy we brought the previous new vacuum cleaner back as this one is much better, even though it also costs more, it is worth it. I always thought I was the only one who did earbuds in my ears when vacuum cleaning (or when my boyfriend vacuum cleans), glad to hear I am not the only one :).

I feel like I didn’t get more posts written than in a normal week, but when I list it like that I am still surprised by how many posts I write in a week. I am really curious about The Year We Fell Down, I heard good things about it.

    • Oh thanks! Now I at least know what it is. I lvoe fresh herbs as well, although we only have a balcony and this window still, so not too much space to grow them. It was nice to get some plants from my boyfriend’s parents, I love seeing them grow.

I always let me boyfriend do the vacuum ceaning, it’s one of the household tasks I hate the most. I hate the noise and I always bump into everythign, it’s frustrating. My boyfriend doesn’t mind vaccuum cleaning, so he can do that.

    • I think it could be parsley andchive indeed. Thanks! I am glad that other peopel do recognize the plants so I know what to do with them. I’ll post a picture of the other plnats next week, so you can tell me what those are. There is a card in one plant for tomatoes and I remember one of the others was small tomatoes, but I don’t know what the other one is.

Our rats love nuts, we often give them hazelnuts or walnuts, but they also like cashews which is what the nut paste is made of. They only can’t eat almonds as those are bad for them. It’s so fun to see them enjoying their food.

    • I also had my eye on The Year We fell Down for a while, so I am really happy I was able to get it for free. I heard good things about this series so I hope to read it soon.

  2. Great news that Snicker’s should get through the procedure safely. They are such cuties! I had a headache all week too. I think it’s from the pollen explosion here. That and the humidity make it harder to breathe clearly. And I couldn’t seem to focus on any one thing this week. All those little need to be done things kept nagging at me. LOL

    • I hope her surgery goes well, it still worries me a bit. Headaches are the worst, I’ve had a hard time concentrating this week and it just wasn’t a good week. And lots of little things that needed to be done, although on the other hand it’s also good to have those all done now.
Lola recently posted…Sunday Post #126My Profile

    • Most people agree that the left one should be chives. I am thinking the other is parsley as that one is more common to grow here, but I use cilantro more, so I am hoping it’s that, lol. Thanks for stopping by 🙂

Yeah they love the extra attention, although it’s sad the rats need to be seperated while Snickers will be recovering from her surgery.

  3. Ugh sorry about your headache, those are just awful.

I hope Snickers is ok! I wish her lots of luck on her surgery tomorrow!

LOL I am so glad you like the game, it can get very addictive. Those little jellybean guys are soooo cute and DON”T PUSH THE RED BUTTON!!! 😉

Have a great week Lola! Happy Reading! oxox

    • I was really happy when that headache finally went away, it was a really bad one this time.

I brought Snickers to the vet this morning and am now waiting to hear back from them. They call when she’s awake from the narcose again and then I can come and get her. I always hate the waiting part :(.

It’s such a fun game, and the jellybean guys are very cute indeed. My boyfriend is really good at the game so I let him play once in a while so he can unlock a new character for the train station. I get easily frustrated when I don’t unlock a new characetr for my trains station after a few tries and I want to unlock those minigames I don’t have yet.

      Thanks for stopping by!

    • One more person mentioned the right one might be cillantro. Maybe I’ll just have to taste that one to be sure. Thanks for stopping by!

  4. We both had health issues this week! 🙁 I have my fingers crossed that all goes well with Snickers. Poor little thing. That photo of the two of them eating the nut paste is adorable. <3 I love it.

I really want dessert after seeing that vanilla pudding. I may have to treat myself!

    • Let’s hope this week is better when it coems to our health!

And it wa sso adorable how both their heads aren’t visible as they are to busy eating the nut paste. Snickers wans’t happy when I brought her to the vet this morning, but I hope she’ll be okay.

You deserve a treat! Go get a dessert!

    • I get them usually once every two weeks or once every week if I am unlucky. I’ve tried to figure out what’s causing them or what to do, but nothing seems to work except for waiting them out. They usually last about 24 hours plus or minus 4. Luckily this headache disapeared monday evening and it stayed away since then.

    • Thanks my rat’s surgery went great! She’s recovering now and doesn’t eat much yet, but she’s doing great.

I hope you check out the app, it’s such a fun and addictive game.
