What happened this week?
This was a nice week, not as much work as normal and I had more time to relax. I hope everyone had a merry christmas!
Last sunday afternoon Pita seemed a bit off, she was sitting quietly in a corner and her fur was weird. She is becoming a bit fat, so we decided to remove their rice and pasta from the cage and get Pita out the cage more often. Every evening I take Pita with me to the bed were I sit reading for a hour so Pita can have some out of cage time without the other girls. It really seemed to help and she perked up a bit as the week continued. We’re still keeping an eye on her.
Tuesday evening I was suddenly really ligth headed, my boyfriend was a bit worried and he did a google search and apparently feeling tired, light headed and having difficulties finding the right words are all symptoms of a B12 shortage. Which were all symptoms I had lately, ofcourse this doens’t prove anything, but as I am a vegatarian I have to be carefull I get enough of that as most of it is in animal products. So to be better safe than sorry we bought some vitamin B supplements. Every year or so I go to the doctor to test for B12 and other stuff, so I guess this means a visit to the doctor in the new year. The light headed ness went away a hour after dinner luckily, but it still scared me a bit.
The first day of christmas, 25 December we stayed home and did nothing really special. I kinda messed up lunch, trying to make a cauliflower mash and damn it was horrible, just horrible! My boyfriend tasted it and thought it was gross as well, worst way to waste a cauliflower. Then we had leftover peanut pasta as dinner and then when I got my quark out for dessert it landed on the floor and created a mess to clean up. So yeah we had some misshaps, but it was a fun first christmas day. I spend some tiem reaidng and playing Skyrim and snuggling with our rats.
On the second day of christmas, 26 December we went to my boyfriend’s parents to celebrate christmas there. I got rabit shaped pluche slipper, an external hard disk (so I can finally back up my computer!) and a mug. We had a delicious dinner, my boyfriends mom made one of my favourite desserts which involves apples, pear and bread, it’s really good! And we got soem leftovers with us for dinner for the next day!
Also we got our first snow of the year, it started snowing on friday on saturday night. It looks nice, but it’s not a lot of snow yet. And it’s cold outside.
Earlier that week we did presents with my sister, we got her a new lunchbox and a guitar pick. My sister got me Nijntje (Miffy) cookie cutters and some penguin sticky notes. And my boyfriend got me the game Skyrim during the steam sale! I already played Skyrim a few hours and I am having fun with the game so far, my character is a bald female Redguard with a big two handed warhammer. Oh and I bought a horse in game!
I also did some shelf cleaning on goodreads, removed some books from my to-read list, added a shelf for paperback/hardcopies so I can easily see which book I own and in which format. In most cases I remember, but there are some books I own I just forget about, so better mark it down. Some of my goodreads shelves really were a mess and I removed my not yet released shelf as I never updated it and most of the books on that shelf were already released, lol.
Finally started my first book for Coyer, Paragon (Legacy Code #2) by Autumn Kalquist.

Book Haul:
I didn’t got any new books this week.
So this post made me entirely STARVING. YUM. Except for the cauliflower catastrophe. That is sad…well, I don’t really like cauliflower, but it still sucks when someone you make doesn’t work out, right?! I burnt a loaf of bread to charcoal (don’t ask) last week and ohhhh IT RUINED MY DAY. I just hate it when things turn out awfully. Sadness.
I hope Pita gets better. :(((
And I hear ya with the lightheaded-ness! I’m not a vegetarian but I have low blood sugar which suuuucks. If i don’t eat breakfast at like 7:30….BOOM. Catastrophes are coming. XD
So glad you had a good christmas tho!! YAY!

I have a recipe for Cauliflower with potatoe mash and I love it! I never really was a fan of cauliflower, but lately I have been eating more of it, so I thought to give this cauliflower mash a try and ugh it reminded me why I never really liked cualiflower. I also messed up the cookies of yesterday evening, burnt them as our timer I set for the cookies doesn’t make sound anymore and then when i lok at it, the cookies already should be done and they were burnt badly :(.
I am not sure if anythign’s really wrogn with Pita, but she can be such a grump sometimes, we really have to force her out the cage. I normally don’t like forcing them out of the cage, but I’ve gotten better at it as I know it’s good for her.
I also have to eat breakfast as soon as I am awake, else things go wrong. I almost passed out once and since then I never skipped breakfast anymore. I love my breakfast!
I hope you had an amazing christmas as well!
Opphhs, your Christmas day sounds messy! But those are the things that you look back on and laugh at. I think peanut pasta sounds interesting, I’d like to try that sometime. Enjoy all your pressies.

Yeah it was a bit of a messy day, but as it was only my boyfriend and I it didn’t matter as much and it’s fun to laugh at it afterwards. The peanut pasta will be on my blog as a recipe post in february I think, it’s one of my favouriter pasta recipes, it’s just so good! Okay I checked I have the recipe post scheduled for 6 February, so make sure to stop by ;).
Yum, looking forward to it!

I can’t believe no book haul this week. Glad you had a Merry Christmas! I did some shelf cleaning on Goodreads myself recently. Some of those books have been on there for years and years and I just know I’ll probably never get to some of them, so I removed what I felt like I’d never get to. Hope you have a happy new year!

I did (pre-)order some books, but they haven’t arrived yet and I’ll feature them when they do. I hardly ever get books for christmas, I did got money from my grandma, which I spent on books.
I think I removed about 200 books form my to-read list which I am not interested in anymore or I forgot about them and decided to remove them, just to clear thigns up a bit and feel less overhwelmed. I think I wetn from 650 to 420 or so. It took a long time, but it felt so good to have cleaned my shelves.
I love Cauliflower mash but it’s a pain to make and it takes forever. I grate the cauliflower first then cook it in a pan with some butter and salt. Once it’s mushy I add a little cream and it usually isn’t to bad.
I am glad you had a fun Christmas, my son use to LOVE Miffy, he would watch it on TV all the time.
I really need to clean up my goodreads shelfs and books, might be a Bloggiesta goal for me this year. I spend so much time on it, it would be nice if it was more useful π
Have a great week Lola and Happy New Year!!!
I have a recipe for cauliflower mash that involves potatoes, but with only cauliflowers it’s too strongly cauliflower flavoured for me. I cooked it, then blended it and added butter and milk. Horrible is the only way to describe it, I don’t even dare try making it another time, but maybe with different ingredients it’s better?
I plan on making cookies next week, so I’ll post a picture of the Miffy cookies in next week’s sunday post.
I think I removed about 200 books from to-read list. Mostly books I added in the first few years and no longer interested. I actually didn’t bother reading the blurb and just deleted them if I couldn’t remember the book to make it easier. I love how my shelves are finally a bit more organized. I only need to organize my read books a bit more as I haven’t categorized all of those with e-copy or physical copy yet. But as that’s less important I didn’t do those yet.
B-12 Shortage is no joke. See the doctor ASAP. Hope you are feeling better. It seems that reading your meal plan is making me hungry. Pita sounds like she needs some attention. I’m glad you had a great christmas.

I am feeling better and didn’t got anymore lightheadedness after that, it also might be due to somethign else, but I will pay a visit to the doctor in the new year. I did discover my breakfast cereal contains B12 as well, so if I eat an egg each day I should reach the daily recommended amount. I hope the extra attention is good for Pita. Hope you had a great christmas as well!
I’m officially hungry lol! Everything sounds so good… Well except the cauliflower mash. I’m not a big cauliflower fan anyway, so if you didn’t like it I’d definitely pass π
I hope the vitamin B helps – its hard to be vegetarian and get all the vitamins you need and usually get from meat. Fingers crossed that Pita’s doing better too π
Happy New Year!

I am not really a cauliflower fan either, but recently I have eaten quite some recipes in which I liked it, so I thought I would give it a try. Guess Cauliflower mash isn’t for me. My cooking feature is started in January, so excited to be sharign my recipes with you all :).
I am pretty sure I get soem vitamin B thanks to milk, breakfast cereals, eggs and dessert, but not sure if it’s enough. I guess it can never hurt to get some extra vitamin B, although I have trouble shallowing pills, so now we mix it through a bit of yughurt and ugh the taste is horrible.
Pita is doing good I think, it’s difficult to cauge and he’s has been a bit off ever since the last operation for the tumor. I just get her out of the cage a lot as she seems to enjoy that even though when I get her out it seems like she doesn’t want to. She’s such a weird girl sometimes.
Sorry the mash did not work. That is a pretty tricky recipe requiring the exactly right moisture content. Or a vast amount of cheese. Or both! We did not have any bad recipes — we had Too much good food so we’re on a Smoothie and soup regime for a couple of days.

I think I threw in too much milk, or maybe cauliflower mash just isn’t for me. Luckily it was only my boyfriend and I that day, would’ve been horrible if I had a cooking disaster like that when cooking for more people.
Oh no! That sucks about the cauliflower mash and the dessert slip π But it sounds like the rest of the week went well. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you! I hope to see more of you in 2015 π

Thanks Stormi, I hope you had an awesome christmas as well! Peanut spaghetti is this yummy dish were you make a pasta sauce from peanut butter and soy suace and cook the spaghetti in the pan with the sauce. It’s really good! I’ll be doing a recipe post about it on 6 February!
So glad to hear that you’ve had a lovely christmas despite the kitchen mishaps! And I’m glad you’re feeling better Lola, make sure you take care of yourself lovely! I hope the new year treats you well, and enjoy the snow! So jealous…I really want a white Christmas π

Actually we only got the snow after christmas, but it would be aweosme to have a white christmas. And yeah I am glad it was a good christmas even with the kitchen mishap.
I hate days where everything that can go wrong goes wrong! Sounds like you salvaged the day though. Hope you and Pita are feeling better! Have a great week and a happy New Year!
