The Tea Witch’s Secret (Purple Oak Oasis #1.5)
by Laura Greenwood and Ariana Jade
My Rating: 4 stars
Genre: Cozy Fantasy Romance
Age Category: New Adult
Type of romance: m/f
Blurb:
Hana knows she shouldn’t fall for Oliver, even if his familiar training constantly leads him back to her for healing. As a tea witch and healer, Hana knows her role in Purple Oak Oasis, and as the heir of the Steeper family, she knows better than to fall for someone she shouldn’t. But the heart wants what it wants, and for Hana Steeper, that means Oliver Fields.
Oliver’s trouble with his owl familiar leads him to the infirmary, where he gets to flirt with the very cute Hana as much as he wants. When their friendship turns into something more, it’s not long before they’re unable to resist.
Are their feelings stronger than the rules they should be listening to?

My Review
I received a free copy from the authors and voluntarily reviewed it.
The Tea Witch’s Secret is the second story in the Purple Oak Oasis series. I struggled a bit with book 1 due this series being reworked and being different from the original version of the series. I wanted to read more books in the series to see if I would enjoy those more. And I am glad to say that worked. It was easier to get into this reworked world now with the second book and I really liked the romance between Hana and Oliver. I was able to leave the original series behind more and settle more comfortable in this new reworked series. The cozy fantasy vibes are awesome and I had a great time reading this one.
I really liked the romance between Hana and Oliver. They struggle with similar issues as the couple of book 1 namely that they are both from two of the four big families that rule the town and are forbidden from dating each other. They eventually decide to give it a try in secret as they really want to be together. I just really liked these two together, they were so sweet and something about their interactions was just so fun to read. I really felt their connection and it made me happy reading about them. There were so many awesome scenes between them and I just really liked reading about them.
In the first book it was clear already that Oliver had trouble training his familiar Howie and I liked seeing that get addressed in this book. I did feel the solution was a bit of an easy one and I couldn’t fathom why he hadn’t tried that before, but in Oliver’s point of view this does make a big more sense. I liked seeing the bond he and Howie have as well as seeing the two of them from Hana’s point of view. It also was fun to see more of the tea witch powers in action as Hana is a healer.
I did feel that just like with the first book the ending feels a bit incomplete as a certain thing still isn’t addressed. I wonder if this will happen in a future book? I do think the series so far is best read in order as I liked seeing more of Katie and Brew in this one, but it definitely works as standalone romances as each book has it’s own romance.
To summarize: This was such a cute romantic cozy fantasy story. I enjoyed this one more than the first book and was able to settle more into this new reworked series and leave the previous version further behind. I really liked reading about Hana and Oliver, they were just so cute together. I really liked them as a couple and there are so many great scenes with the two of them. I liked seeing Oliver’s bond with Howie as well as more of the tea witch magic as well. I did feel one plot line didn’t really get resolved but maybe that happens in future books. I had a great time reading this one and can’t wait for more books in the series.
Those forbidden romance stories can be fun when they are in a cozy fantasy like this. Glad you got to see certain things take place and also have a plot thread to anticipate how it will work out.
I thought the forbidden romance was quite well done and I look forward to seeing if the underlying plot thread gets resolved in future books. I definitely look forward to the next book.
I hope the next book is just as good.
I just got the next book, so I hope so too 🙂
Sounds like another good one in this series. So glad you’re enjoying them!
