The influx of new mythical animals proves a tough challenge for the Griffin Sanctuary. For the first time, they’re housing a kelpie but trouble brews as none of the keepers have much experience with this particular breed. It’s up to veterinarian-apprentice Charlotte to keep the kelpie as comfortable as possible but an unforeseen pregnancy makes the task harder than expected.
Failure is not an option because her job, the kelpie’s life, and the future of the Griffin Sanctuary are on the line.

The Kelpie Crisis is book 7 in the Griffin Sanctuary series about apprentice veterinarian Charlotte as she learns how to care and handle mythical animals. Every book has a new animal case and can be read out of order. The series contains a slow-burn sapphic romance. If you enjoy mythical creatures, zoo documentaries, slow burn sapphic romantic sub-plots, and a heroine who loves animals, start The Griffin Sanctuary series with The Unicorn Herd.
My Review
I really like this series and enjoy following Charlotte as she works with mythical animals at Griffins Sanctuary. I was excited to read this newest book and it was so good! I liked reading about the kelpie and seeing how Charlotte and the other people at griffins Sanctuary did their best to help it out and provide him with an appropriate environment to give birth in.
This is just such a fun series, I like reading about all the different animals and this kelpie was so interesting to read about. The way the author writes about these mythical animals makes them feel real. With all these little details about how they live, where they live, how they give birth, what they eat and more. I enjoyed seeing Charlotte and the others at Griffin Sanctuary do their best for the kelpie and I enjoyed seeing it all play out.
There is a bit of drama on the romance front, which I am not a fan of, but on the other hand I did feel that their struggles in this book were very realistic. And I liked when they finally talked things through. Not a fan of the passive aggressive stage they went through with avoiding the issue and just being rude to each other, but once they finally got past that and really talked with each other it was great to see them get to the root of the issue and resolve things. I also feel a bit sad at the huge work pressure they are both under. I know they don’t really have much of a choice and they love their job, but it still makes me sad seeing them so overworked and tired.
To summarize: This is such a fun series! I was excited to get into this newest book and had a great time reading about the kelpie they are helping in this book. The kelpie was such an interesting animal to read about and I liked all the little details the author added to the story which made him feel like a real animal. I enjoyed following Charlotte in this book and reading about how she handled things. Not a fan of the bit of drama romance wise and how they handled it at first, but it did feel realistic what they were dealing with and I liked when they got to talk it through and resolve it. I had a great time reading this one and look forward to the next book in the series!
The kelpie as the new mythical animal needing their help would be an interesting element. I’m glad that if you had to have all that drama that it felt realistic for this situation.
The kelpie was so interesting to read about, I really liked it. And I appreciated that the drama felt realistic at least.
This sounds like such a good series. So glad that you’re enjoying it so much. Thanks for sharing!
