Justin wants his sister’s wedding to be perfect, the only problem is that the cupcakes have magically gone wrong. Luckily, the enchanting baker behind them is willing to fix the problem.

Working together only reveals that there’s something more between them, but can Justin and Oakley manage to make it work?

The Cupcake Witch is a paranormal romance and part of the Broomstick Bakery series. It includes witchy bakers, a wedding, and a standalone m/f romance.

My Review

I received a free copy from the author through Booksprout and voluntarily reviewed it.

I’ve been really enjoying Laura Greenwood’s books and jumped on the chance to read and review The Cupcake Witch, the first book in her new Broomstick Bakery series. The Cupcake Witch was a great read, it’s light, fun and romantic. Oakley the cupcake witch ends up ruining a whole batch of cupcakes for a wedding when her ex makes an unexpected appearance. When the best men comes to pick up the cupcakes they realize the cupcakes don’t taste right. She has to redo the whole batch, but her mistake brings her into contact with the best man Justin. They have an instant connection that leads to more.

I liked reading about Oakley and Justin, their first meeting was fun to read and I liked how they started dating afterwards. I liked how they connected and talked things through. There is no drama and all the things that could cause trouble they talk about. Oakley and Justin are both likable characters and their banter and dating was so fun to read about.

I enjoyed reading about the bakery and all the sisters that worked there. Willow and Azíl from the Coffee Cauldron series make an appearance as well, which is fun as the broomstick bakery and the sisters got mentioned in that series too. And with the cupcake title I was happy to see there were plenty of cupcakes in the story as well. I especially liked the magical twist and reading about how Oakley added magic to her cupcakes and used it to make them.

To summarize: I really enjoyed this book. Oakley messes up some cupcakes for a big wedding event, while she tries to fix her mistake she comes in contact with the best man. Their instant connection leads to more as they start dating. I liked the light and fun tone of the book and the sweet romance. Justin and Oakley were a great couple and I liked how they talk things through and there’s no drama. The magical bakery was fun to read about and I especially liked reading about how Oakley added magic to the cupcakes and used magic to make them. I look forward to reading the next sister’s story.
