In the new Secret, Book, and Scone Society novel from New York Times bestselling author Ellery Adams, the rain in Miracle Springs, North Carolina, has been relentless—and a flood of trouble is about to be unleashed . . .Nora Pennington figures all the wet weather this spring is at least good for business. The local inns are packed with stranded travelers, and among them Nora finds new customers for her store, Miracle Books. Since a little rain never hurt anyone, Nora rides her bike over to the flea market one sodden day and buys a bowl from Danny, a Cherokee potter. But the next day, after Miracle River overflows its banks, and Danny’s body is found floating within the churning waters, Nora decides it’s time for the Secret, Book, and Scone Society to spring into action. A crucial clue may lie within the stone walls of the Inn of Mist and Roses: a diary, over a century old and spattered with candle wax, that leads Nora and her friends through a maze of intrigue—and onto the trail of a murderer . . .
My Review
I really enjoyed the first two books in a series and not long after listening to book 2 I decided to listen to book 3. I really enjoyed this book, there’s a interesting tie with some history and some new characters that get introduced. The murder is quite sad, but I liked how hopeful the ending is.
This series has that perfect blend between cozy vibes as well as some heavier topics. It feels very real and I love reading about Nora and her friends. There are some great developments in all their lives in this book and I like seeing how they deal with it all. There are some interesting new side characters and I especially liked Sheldon.
The mystery kept me guessing. There are people who are keeping secrets and until those came to light the pieces didn’t fall on it’s place. The twist at the end felt well done and I liked how the past played a role in this mystery. The mystery and murder was quite sad, but I appreciated how the ending still ends things on a hopeful note and honors the memory of the murdered man.
I like the narrator for this series and how she does all the different voices. It’s pleasant to listen to and I already bought the next book.
To summarize: I really enjoyed this book. This series has such a perfect blend between cozy vibes as well as some heavier and realistic topics. The characters all feel very real and I enjoy reading about them and seeing the developments in their lives and how they deal with it. There are some interesting new side characters in this one as well. The mystery was a solid one and kept me guessing, there was a nice twist and I liked how the past played a role with it. The narrator for this series is great and I like how she does the different voices. I already bought the next book.

Sounds good, I’m glad you liked it.
It’s a great series so far 🙂
Says a lot for the series that you are jumping into the next ones quickly. Love the way you describe it as cozy, but a touch of deeper realism, too. I’ll have to read them at some point.
Definitely. I rarely read a series so quickly one after another. It’s a really good series and I love the combination of cozy with realistic topics. I look forward to hearing what you think of them when you get around to reading them. The audio versions are great too.
