My Review
I was in the mood for a light and fun read and decided to pick up another Obscure Academy story. I really enjoyed Secret Santa for Grumpy Elves, Holly and Chris were great together and the tone and feel of this book was perfect for what I was in the mood for.
Holly is an elf who doesn’t like Christmas, when she has to get a secret santa present for one of her flatmates she bumps into Chris who works at the soap store where she’s buying the present. The two connect and arrange to meet again. I liked seeing these tow spend time together and how Chris could show Holly the joy of the Christmas season and Holly opened up about why she didn’t like Christmas and slowly grew to like it more.
I really like the way Laura Greenwood writes romances, Holly and Chris were so good together. They respected the other and they were so sweet together. I really could feel their connection and I liked seeing it deepen.
The paranormal element was pretty mild in this one, but I liked how it still adds something to the setting and story. I liked the Christmas timing and the secret Santa gift theme. I thought the Christmas vibe came across well and I liked reading about some of the UK Christmas traditions like the crackers.
To summarize: This was a lighthearted and fun story set around Christmas time. I really enjoyed this one and it fit my mood for a lighthearted and fun read perfectly. I liked Holly and Chris and the way they meet and start dating. It was such a sweet romance and I could feel their connection. I really like the way this author writes romances, they feel real and romantic. The paranormal element here was light, but I thought it was fun to read a Christmas story about an elf.
That cover is really hilarious and seems to match the story well. Glad it gave you a light-hearted tone and lots of holiday fun.
It really is a great cover that fits the story well and conveys the Christmas vibe. I really enjoyed this one.
