My Review
I received a free copy from the author and voluntarily reviewed it.
Ruins of Knowledge is a standalone story set in The Egyptian Empire world. I really enjoy the stories I read in this world and was excited to read this one. Ruins of Knowledge follows Tali, who is a Priestess of Thoth and wants to be youngest earned Blessed for the temple. In this book she visits her father who is handling a renovation project in Egypt and her knowledge of the time period is instrumental in determining if this building was built then.
I liked how this book delved a bit in the history of this world with when the alternate timeline starts and how some other gods are taken up in the Egyptian pantheon. It was interesting to read a bit about these ruins and the work that goes into dating and restoring them. It also was fun to read a book set in Egypt instead of London which is where the other books I’ve read took place.
I liked Tali’s passion for knowledge and this specific period in history that she focuses on. And I liked seeing her meet someone who shares her passion. I liked her romance with Shen, although I wouldn’t have minded a few more scenes to deepen their romance. I liked them together, but wished there had been a bit more. I also liked reading about the sacred animals.
To summarize: This was another interesting story set in the Egyptian Empire world. This one delves a bit more into the history of the world due to the main character’s work and passion for history. She’s helping out at some ruins to help figure out when this was built. I liked seeing her met Shen at the ruins and falling in love with him, I would’ve liked a bit more about their romance. I liked them together and their shared passion for history and ruins. I also liked reading a bit more about the sacred animals and different gods and temples in this.

Getting more info about the history sounds good. I’m glad you liked this one.
The history aspect was interesting.
Glad you are continuing to enjoy this series. I think the sacred animal stuff would be interesting to me as well. Great review!
I am really enjoying the stories set in this world so far. The sacred animal stuff is a lot of fun too.
