The moment I meet Lucas Spencer, I know falling for him will end with a broken heart.
As a Princess at the prestigious Rosewood Academy, I’m here to keep my head down and study, not to fall in love with a commoner.
Especially when the secrets between us could risk destroying me.
When the truth comes to light, I have to decide if I trust him.
Or if he’s just going to hurt me again.

My Review

I’ve been enjoying Laura Greenwood’s books so far, so when she released this book I decided to buy a copy. This is the first contemporary romance book I read by this author and I really enjoyed this one. This book is told from the point of view of Sophie, she’s a princess attending Rosewood academy, where everyone is the son of a king, duke or high ranking person. While at the academy she falls hard and fast for Lucas, but he’s keeping a secret form her that might ruin their relationship if it comes to light.

I liked Sophie, she liked to study and get good grades, but on the other hand she also liked to party and have fun. I also liked how while she’s a princess it never goes to her head and she feels like a pretty normal person. That’s one of the reasons she falls for Lucas as he treats her like a normal person instead of caring for her status. I also liked her friendship with Charlotte and how they become close friends quickly and are there for the other.

Lucas was such a nice guy and I liked how respectful he is of Sophie. They really made for a great couple and I liked reading about the dates they go on and seeing them grow closer. There is some drama later in the book when Lucas’ secret comes to light, but I thought it was handled well and made sense how the characters acted. I also like how they get over it and how Sophie is the one to bridge the gap after it. I like how they both apologize for their role in it. The epilogue is sweet and gives a hint of their future.

To summarize: This was a fun sweet romantic read. I liked Sophie who while she was a princess felt like a normal person. I thought it was interesting how she liked to study as well as party. I liked her romance with Lucas and reading about their dates, they made for a great couple. There is some stuff they have to work through when Lucas’ secret comes to light later in the book, but I liked how that was handled. All in all this was a great read and I look forward to more in this series.
