Henry has always enjoyed a good prank, and when it comes to Grace, he gives as good as he gets.

Now that the next round of their cheerleading competition is coming, they need to work together. Could they discover that there’s more between them than just mischief?

My Review

I received a free copy from the author through Booksprout and voluntarily reviewed it.

I love the Obscure Academy series and was excited the next book was here. I picked it up when I was in the mood for a lighthearted and fun book. This book fit exactly what I was in the mood for. It’s always fun to return to this series and read more about this academy and the characters who study there.

I have to admit I was a bit hesitant when I found out from the blurb that the two main character start out not liking each other and end up in some sort of prank battle, but once I started reading I actually thought that part was really well done. It’s not really pranks, but instead they have this pixie dust magic which can cause minor curses that last for an hour. And as they both are pixies and agree to the pixie dust war they’re both aware of it and have fun with it. I think that was the part that made this work for me, they were both having so much fun with the pixie dust war. It felt like this was their way of flirting together. And the pixie dust curses are all these minor inconvenient or annoying things, but nothing too dangerous and it wears off after an hour again. It actually was quite fun seeing what they came up with and seeing how the curses worked. Also this book felt filled with magic due to the pixie dust, which was fun to read about.

I just had a lot of fun reading this book. I liked learning about pixies and the pixie dust as well as how their wings and pixie forms work. Both main characters were fun to read about and I liked gettign to know them. Their romance was great, they both try to deny they have feelings, but as their pixie dust war progresses they gradually realize how much they care about the other. I also liked that from the start they trust each other already. There’s also some more about the cheerleading team, they have another competition and there are multiple practice scenes throughout the book. I don’t know a lot about cheerleading, so it was interesting learning a bit more about it.

Grace is best friends with Krissi from book 1 and it was fun to see some more of her. There are mentions and appearances of other characters that have been introduced in earlier books and it’s fun to see those again. As well as some hints about the next book’s couple.

To summarize: This series is great and I had so much fun reading this book. It’s a lighthearted and fun romance with two pixies main characters. I wasn’t sure what to think of the set up at first, but I thought the pixie dust war was fun to read about. They come up with all these minor curses that are annoying or inconvenient, but do not harm anyone. It’s filled with magic as they throw these pixie dust curses at another throughout the whole book. I liked seeing them both slowly realize they have feelings for the other and how that builds on the mutual trust they already started with from working together in the cheer team. I liked reading more about pixies and how their magic, wings and pixie forms work. There are some recurring characters from previous books in the series which was fun. I can’t get enough of this series, it’s so much fun, I definitely recommend it!
