Connor is Kerri’s good luck charm, but is he lucky enough to win her heart?

Basketball star Kerri “Killer O’Connor” knows she’s bad luck, and she’s tried everything to keep it from ruining her life — a rabbit’s foot, a horseshoe, her dad’s lucky shirt — she’s never without one.

When her dad gets hurt in a freak accident on Friday the 13th, Kerri is sure she’s to blame, but then a boy shows up wearing her father’s old sweatshirt, and Kerri’s luck suddenly does a 180.

Convinced that Connor Murphy is the talisman she needs to change her fate, Kerri begs him to be there for her while her dad is recuperating. Connor doesn’t believe in luck, but he’d do anything to win the girl of his dreams, even if that means spending all his time with Kerri.

Connor never expected to fall for the kooky girl with the crazy superstitions, and Kerri’s convinced that Connor wants someone else. But when luck turns to love, can Connor convince Kerri that he’s more than just her lucky charm?

My Review:
This book was so much fun to read! My previous book that I read seemed to help me out of this weird reading mood I was in, so I decided to pick up another contemporary romance book. This book was exactly the type of read I was in the mood for. It was fun, sweet, cute and romantic.

Good Luck Charm was well written, the writing flowed well and I easily got sucked into the story and wanted to see what would happen next to Kerri and Connor. It was a lot of fun to read. Kerri has the worst luck ever and has an overabundance of good luck charms to try and counter her bad luck. It might sound like it would be too much, but I actually really liked how the author handled the luck theme. It added some quirkiness to Kerri’s character and caused some fun situations. Although I did feel bad for Kerri with how much bad luck she had.

I liked both Kerry and Connor. The book is written in dual point of view and that helped to get a feel for them. After her father lands in the hospital due to an accident, Kerri convinces Connor to be her good luck charm. And that’s how their friendship starts. This book is a bit of a friends to lovers romance. For the longest time they don’t realize they have feelings for the other, but that moment when they do realize that was great.

Kerri is a great female main character who speaks her mind and isn’t afraid to say what she thinks. And while others might not believe her bad luck, she does. This book lightly touches upon the power of superstitions and how this influences her character. I liked how she was a bit quirky and very forward, but also nice. And Connor was such a nice guy, he was so sweet and helpful to Kerri. And he knew how to cook, that was a nice touch as well.

I liked seeing these two become friends and how they interacted. And how they have some slightly awkward conversations at first and how they talk through them was fun to read. There is a bit of drama toward the end that I didn’t care too much for, but it was necessary for the plot and to resolve everything. And I was happy with how things ended. I wouldn’t have minded a few scenes to actually see them as a couple, as the book ends right when the become a couple.

There are some side characters, but the main focus is on Kerri and Connor. Kerri’s family also plays apart and they were fun to read about. Then there is her friends Mia, who is the main character of the first book. But even tough I haven’t read the first book I never felt like I was missing anything. And Jake the character of the next book gets introduced, but I found him kinda annoying. I wonder if he changes in the next book. Mallory was a bit of the typical popular girl, although at least she wasn’t too mean. And she did have an important role to show that looks aren’t everything.

To summarize: This was the first book I picked up by this author and it certainly won’t be the last. Good Luck Charm is a fun and cute romantic read centered around the topic of luck. Kerri has a lot of bad luck and asks Connor to be her good luck charm after he helps her out. These two were so fun to read about, I liked seeing how they become friends and then slowly more. And I liked how both are great characters, Kerri is quirky and fun and Connor is really nice and sweet. The writing flowed smoothly and I had a lot of fun reading this book.

  1. What a great book to read for St. Patrick’s Day holiday reading. I like that this is a friends to lovers romance and the uniqueness of how superstition seems to be a big deal for Kerri and she has to work through all that. Hopefully, the author will turn things around and make Jake a likable character for his own book.

    • The whole series is set around holidays and are released close to the holidays they feature as well. I really enjoyed this one and how the St. Patrick’s Day and luck theme were handled. I really liked how the superstition was a big feal for Kerri and it felt realistically how it impacted her life and she had to work through that. I am not sure yet if I’ll pick up the next book, but I am curious if the author can make Jake a likeable character in his own book. So my curiosity might get the better of me.

    • I did read a novella centered around the theme of luck last year, but I think this is the first one I read that was set around St. Patrick’s Day. It was a fun one!

    • The cover fits the book well too :). It was exactly the type of read I was in the mood for and I already read another book by this author by now.
