My Review:
I got a free copy of this book from the author and voluntarily reviewed it.

Gah I loved this book! After I finished book 1 I kept thinking about this world and the series, I read another book afterwards and knew that after that I had to dive back into this series. The first book was good, but this book was even better!

This book starts shortly after the end of book 1. At the end of book 1 Olina made a big decision, in this book we see how that pans out and her search to solve the mystery, while at the same time she finds new friends a place to belong. There’s a lot of character development in this book for Olina. It’s hard to say a lot about this without spoiling the twists in book 1, but let’s say that I really enjoyed seeing her find her way in this book. I like how she fights for what she believes in.

I had thought we probably found out the answer to the mystery plot line in this book, but while there are some new things we learn about that in this book, we still don’t know who was behind it. But I did like how that plot line progressed and there’s an important piece we learn at the end of the book about which type of people might be behind it.

There’s a lot that happens in this book, I liked seeing where the story went. There are some great twists and reveals and I enjoyed every second of this book. While reading I often think of other books I want to read or what to read next, but when reading this book I had the revelation that I was reading exactly the book I wanted to. It was great! I had a hard time putting this book down and my lunch breaks often became a bit longer as I had to finish another chapter.

I am not even fully sure what about this book it is that makes it such an addictive read, but as soon as I start reading I just want to keep reading and I want to know what happens next. The end of this book is a bit of a cliffhanger, but it does it’s job of making me curious about book 3. I love reading about these worlds and the events that transpire there.

In Fantasy of Flight we meet a whole bunch of new side characters. I did have some trouble keeping some of them apart, especially with all the snow and ice related names. But slowly we do get a feel of all of them and many of them have their own story and personality. I hope we get to see more of them later in this series. But I also was happy when we got to see some side characters from book one again as I’ve grow fond of those and we don’t see them for part of this book.

There’s also a small side plot line involving a bit of a romance for Olina. I have to admit I wasn’t quite sure about the romance at first, but it’s slowly growing on me. And I do appreciate how he agrees with her decision at the end of the book. I am curious to see how their romance will develop in the next book. I did got a bit annoyed about Olina’s decision to run away at one time, but at the same time it did feel in character.

There’s more about the worlds we learn in this book, including some big reveals. We mostly learn more about Glacium and the outer rings. There’s also a bit of politics, but it’s pretty limited, which works great in this book. The focus is more on Olina’s story and what happens to her in this book. The ending is well done and sets things up for the next book and I can’t wait to read what happens next.

To summarize: this book was amazing! Book 1 was good, but this one was even better. There’s a decision Olina makes at the end of the previous book and we see how that plays out here. I liked seeing her make new friends and how she developed in this book. I feel like this book is a very important one for Olina as a person. A lot happens and there are some nice twists and big revelations. Once I started reading I had a hard time putting the book down as I had to know what would happen next. I was completely enthralled with the story and it’s been a long time a book captured my attention like this. I liked reading more about Olina. We also meet some new side characters and see more of already familiar side characters as well. There’s also a bit of romance, I wasn’t quite sure about the romance at first, but it’s growing on me. The ending is a bit of a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to read the next book and read what happens next!

    • The first book was really good already, but this one was even better. This author has quickly become a favorite author of mine šŸ™‚

  1. That’s great when the sequel gets even better than the first book, and wow it sounds like you really loved this one! That’s good that both the side characters and the romance are growing on you, and the rest must have been good if you couldn’t put the book down. There are some books that just have that special something, even if you can’t quite place your finger on it. I actually have a review for my latest five-star book going up tomorrow!

    • I was really happy this was such a good book and even better than the first book. I am still not fully sure what about this book it was, but I couldn’t put it down. I hope the romance will keep growing on me.

I’ll have to stop by tomorrow to read your latest 5 star review :). I know how rarely you give out those 5 stars.
