Enchanting Songs For Silent SirensEnchanting Songs For Silent Sirens (Obscure Academy #3)
by Laura Greenwood

My Rating: 5 stars

Genre: Paranormal Romance
Age Category: New Adult
Type of romance: MF

Blurb:
Melody loves to sing, which is a bit of a problem when doing that could enchant everyone around her with her siren magic. Instead, she doesn’t talk to anyone about her love of Christmas carols and keeps her powers a secret.

Until she meets Josh and the two of them form a connection deeper than any she’s ever experienced before.

Can he help her find her voice?

Enchanting Songs For Silent Sirens is a holiday story and part of the Obscure Academy series. It’s a light-hearted m/f paranormal romance with a deaf love interest. It is Melody and Josh’s complete story.

My Review

I received a free copy from the author through Booksprout and voluntarily reviewed it.

I really love the Obscure Academy series so far and this is probably my favorite book so far! Enchanting Songs for Silent Sirens was so good. I really loved the romance, Melody and Josh were so great together. And I thought it was interesting to read about a deaf love interest and how that influenced how they communicated.

There’s something about this series that just really works for me. It’s so fun to read about and I like the lighthearted vibe and I like the way the author writes the romances. I really like the interactions between the characters and getting to know the main and side characters. There are so many interesting characters in this series.

I really enjoyed seeing the romance develop in this book. Melody is a siren who can’t sing as she’ll bewitch people, but she loves singing. While Josh is a deaf warlock. A chance encounter where they bump into each other leads to them getting hot chocolate together and form there their connection grows. I liked that Melody already knew how to sign and could communicate with Josh that way from the start. And she also was willing to learn more and figure out how to communicate with Josh and which situations worked best for him. I loved how accepting she is and never see him being deaf as a problem. They were just so great together and I really liked seeing them grow closer and getting to know each other. Some of my favorite scenes where them doing something special for the other, like a certain gift Melody buys for Josh which fits so perfectly and the touching event Josh organizes for Melody. These two were just so perfect together and I really enjoyed seeing their relationship develop.

There are some fun encounters with side character too, I think one of the mers will get her own story and I am hoping the ghoul flatmate will get one too. It feels fun returning to the academy and getting to know more of the characters and reading about the different paranormal types. I liked reading about the mer society and the pool they have in this book and seeing more of the merfolk.

To summarize: I loved this book. The romance between melody and Josh is so awesome and sweet. I really liked getting to know them and seeing how their romance progressed. I like how accepting they both are and how they really are there for the other. The touching gift and event they do for the other were some of my favorite parts. I thought it interesting to read about a deaf love interest and how they had to communicate differently. I liked how Melody never saw him being deaf as an issue and how accepting they both were. I liked how they figured out their own signals and ways to communicate and convey things. I had so much fun reading this book and the Christmas theme was a fun addition. I look forward to more books in this series!

    • The deaf representation was really well done and handled respectfully. The romance was awesome and I liked how accepting they both were and they made for a great couple.
